Wow. Its too bad Mrs. Garcia couldnât have seen Axel in action tonight. If she though she was âimpressedâ with him during the play, sheâd have been even MORE impressed with him now, doing and saying the right thing. To the point that sheâd probably allow Fay Future âsupervised datesâ with Axel.
At first i thought Fay should let Luann take her home. But maybe Fay figured out that this is the time to have a productive heart-to-heart talk with Mom.
Good to see Pru again. It would be interesting to see who Pru is attracted to in the Luann cast. The theme of potential attraction has been frequent among the other characters â so maybe not inappropriate for Pru. And Pru might show up with a date â somebody new?
Well, good to see you, Pru. What have you been up to?? Reporting to Quill on how Luann is doing? A girlfriend yet? Know anything about what is happening with Ann Eiffel and her fraudulent lingerie party that you were supposed to oversee?
Well, so much for the big Alexâs-brother cliffhanger. I had been holding my breath, dreading that the off-screen voice saying âBro! Too close!â was brother Aaron, who was chaperoning this two younger brothers, Axel and Ozzie. Someone did comment that Luann grew up around Aaron and would have known if he had a brother.
Luann should definitely drive Fay home. If the mom has to come and pick her up, she will become angrier and more upset on the drive there. Luann should take Fay home and go inside to make sure Fay tells the truth and answer any questions the mom has for her. Then Luann can leave them alone to talk. Donât upset the mom any more than necessary.
âMom, I tricked Luann into thinking it was okay with you for me to go on a chaperoned date with Axel but when she found out the truth she insisted I come clean with you.â
âOh. Well, have a nice date, Honey.â
âWho are you calling âHoneyâ over the phone?"
âMy daughter. Back to bed, Fred. Iâll rejoin you in a minuteâ
Prudence lives! I suppose Frank and Nancy finally got around to clearing out the basement behind the furnace, and there she was! âYou know, Frank, I thought there used to be another person at the breakfast table. Guess I was right!â
This is a seemingly somewhat odd change of plans for me here today. I think it would have been more appropriate for Luann to have taken Fay home and then have Fay explain her actions face-to-face with her mother. I am not really sure, that as a parent, such a âphone call confessionâ would carry as much weight or impact as a face-to-face discussion. In some ways I could understand Mrs. Garcia getting MORE frustrated at Fay via the phone call than she would if Fay were home and talking this through in person.
Not really sure what to predict at the moment. But, it is interesting to see Pru. Will the story segue into something about her, or will Pru just have a momentary side appearance here?
Weâll see what happens, but I hope this gives a chance for Fay to make things right and not lose any ground. Furthermore, I hope Lu doesnât lose ground with Fay for making her do the right thing. Looks like Fay is safe with Axel for future encounters, and thatâs good.
My screen has a button that says âBUY A PRINT OF THIS COMICâ. I wonder how many fans will buy a print of todayâs strip so they can hang it on their wall and remember this magic moment forever.
Fayâs logic here doesnât make much sense. Refusing a ride home from Luann doesnât make her any more honest, even in her motherâs eyes. It could be just an additional source of irritation for mom, having to come retrieve her daughter from a place Luann took her (and was responsible to return her from).
I am glad that Fay decided to use the more adult approach. If her mother comes through logically and lovingly then that will pay off for Fay. I really hope she is not too much of a helicopter parent to do so.
To say it more compactly: Peer psychology is more effective than the experience of an older person. But, Fay is taking it too far. She is attending an evening function in the company and protection of Luann. Momma has to give her a little space. 13 is old enough to stretch those apron strings.
A little growing pain for Fay this week and last, but I think she and Axel have a future as friends. So this wonât be the last of those two. As for Bro alias âDudeâ we may not see him any more.
This is not at all predicted, and thank you for your famous misdirection play, and the beautiful drawing Greg. I like Fay so much as a character I can feel her shame at lying to her mother, and why itâs important not to, even in the face of a crush. It was not to do with Luann meeting a new love, or Fay going with Axel, although I think they still will âdateâ appropriate to their ages in upcoming panels, but that could be wishful. But the life lesson is great. How will Luann and Pru help Fay feel better? Poor girl, but this is an important lesson. Will she be cheered up though?
The problem is Luann. Well-intentioned or not, Luann is a walking, talking Disaster for all whom she meets. And her mentorship with Fay had started out seemingly so wellâŠ.

I am struck by the persistent, occasionally tiresome, comments about the lingerie arc being left hanging. For me, that subplot was more or less finished. Tiffany shut down the SoufflĂ© business and got her friendâs money back. Ann, ever the slippery eel, got to Dad first, and won that contest. (We need Ann to stay in the strip, because she is the only villain.) Also, the Evanses have set up the possibility for a new story line. Finally they are creating some curiosity about about how well Tiffany is managing her depression, given her setback with her father. If she has recovered that needs time to plausibly occur. Truthfully, I think the guys just want to see Tiffany, even if there is no story at all. Greg should just draw panel featuring her in different outfits.
