I don’t think she dated Les, she would be coming home puking. Now a tattoo would be interesting if Nancy said you show me yours and I’ll show you mine. Now being married to Elwood is intriguing (especially if there was a Jaguar or Rolls-Royce out in the driveway). :)
Hmmmmmmm it really seems ‘cold’ to be treating a daughter like Luanne as if she were a sponge on her parent’s finances…and unworthy of a little extra help to make her transition from child to business associate less painful. We’ve all watched her grow up and become ready to tackle the world. We’ve even watched as she volunteered in countries in crisis Etc. Etc.
What else did you expect from her? She’s working parttime and has done her final exams etc. Etc. She’s doing everything to make her parents proud of her..no drugs, no affairs, no slouching a la Tiffany….she’s working to help the poor and homeless. SHe’s proving everyday that she can be a daughter a parent can be proud of.
Shame on those who prefer to badmouth a comic character who is an excellent role model for today’s youth. You should be making sure your kiddoes read this comic and choose such a clean lifestyle to emulate.
It’s too easy for Luann to make fun of his parents. Some words and they fall for it. But it’s the kind of joke that you always like to do.However, seeing Frank read “The woman in the wind” made me curious about the book, the plot seems very good. I think I’ll read it.
Blah, blah, blah. This Sunday foible does do something funny though, directed at all of us Baby Boomers. This is really a generational comment between Gen Z, which Luann would be if in real life, or a Millennial in Luannverse time, to parents who have a bemused, and confused understanding at times. Like so many of us. The whole Bets/Gunther arc is so typical. It’s funny though. What she did does not matter really
Luann is no longer under age, but for children who are under age, if a parent can send a child to boarding school, why can’t the parent choose a boarding school in Siberia—if there are any?
I have a 15 month old puppy who is 1/4 Lab, and a swimming pool. I used to get upset when he got in the pool, now I just dry him off. I think parenthood is like that. You learn not to sweat the small stuff. No sense getting high blood pressure over something that’s going to repeat, repeat, repeat. Besides, in my case, it gives me a chance to be close to him and speak softly. In Luann’s case, it creates a learning opportunity at (now) an nearly adult level. It can be a good thing, assuming it’s not a really bad thing.
Exchange student? She can go to Siberia, and a young adult Russian can come and live with the DeGroots! “Luann in Siberia” has a fantastic ring to it! The strip can be quite educational, and we can enjoy Luann being way out of her element, learning Russian, eating Russian food, learning about Russian culture, riding the Trans-Siberian railway! Pulling out her Dad’s Yes CDs and memorizing “Siberian Khatru”! I LOVE it!

This wouldn’t be anything like the noodle incident, would it?

Well, that’s all wonderful pieces of encouragement, Luann.

You know something is really wrong when Luann comes home and talks to her parents.

OK, Luann, just what HAVE you done now?

I thought they went camping. I was hoping to see Luann and Jack ‘get busy’ by the campfire.

I’d go check the car.

Why does Luann’s dialogue sound EXACTLY like something from “Dennis the Menace”? She’s not…6 years old.
BJShipley1 about 5 years ago
It’s not against the law to make your kid move out though. Frank and Nancy really need to learn that Luann isn’t gonna grow up until she’s forced to.

Uh-oh, better call a lawyer!

She seems to be remarkably cheerful, for someone that is about to get sent to Siberia.

I often wonder if Greg sees these comments… Good or bad it shows there is a lot of personal investment in his strip.

It’s a shame Luann does not look more like her mom. A very pretty lady.
Willow Mt Lyon about 5 years ago
It is out of her parents’ hands. She has to pay for her own mistakes at 18. There is nothing they can really do except kick her out.
