Well, Karen has been helping write the strip, but she’s not a cartoon artist. If Greg weren’t drawing the strip, they’d have to find a new artist, and that’s a dicey proposition. Even many who could draw cartoons of their own would have a very hard time drawing the characters true to their traditional style, and that would greatly put off readers. So if Greg leaves the picture, I think the strip will end.

Phil seems pretty professional and mature. If he and Luann hit it off, he’ll likely find that he has a quirky, immature broad on his (gloved) hands.
