Death, be not proud, though some have called thee mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so; For those whom thou think’st thou dost overthrow die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me. From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be, much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow. And soonest our best men with thee do go, rest of their bones, and soul’s delivery. Thou art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men, and dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell, And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well, and better than thy stroke. Why swell’st thou then? One short sleep past, we wake eternally. And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die. (SHAKESPEARE)

I remember an old story. A rich man dies and goes to Heaven and when he gets there he’s met with great rapture. He asks St. Peter if he’s being rewarded for how hard he worked to get to the top? No. His great war record? No. His children? No.
Turns out the important thing he did was give some kid a summer job and some old books from his basement. That kid went on the change the world.
The cycle of all living things on earth is to be born, eat, drink, have offspring, eat, drink, die. The eat and drink is important because that is how the earth keeps its balance — by some species eating others and the dead decomposing to provide nutrients for others. It’s the cycle of life. Man is the only species that interrupts that cycle by changing the environment to suit just ourselves. We level forests, blast mountains, dig holes, drain swamps, dam rivers, dump contaminants, clear out any animals and plants we don’t like. We think of it as necessary for progress; we don’t think about what might be necessary for survival.

The only true state of equality. Even though people make religions to believe inequality continues after death.
