Hey Chuck, look on the positive side of things! In the future when you are adults she will likely be yelling at Marcie and not you! Of course you may end up with Lucy after Schroder dumps her to go play piano on a cruise ship or at dinner theaters! Plan carefully Charlie Brown!
I donât want to rub your nose in it but to love doesnât mean to lead someone by the nose, Patty. You donât even need to put your nose to the grindstone or so. Thatâs as plain as the nose on your face. Straight out and just follow yourâŠuumm ya know whatâŠ
One of Sparkyâs more interesting inspirations: After years of unrequited love, Charlie Brown finds himself uncomfortably on the other side. Sometimes itâs Patty and Marcie bickering over him. At least once it was Patty versus the Little Red-Headed Girl at summer camp. On Sundays itâs just Patty, hanging with the mostly clueless CB and trying to build a relationship. Theyâre usually posed as they are here, staring into opposite directions as Patty asks a question thatâs important to her and his well-intended answer misfires. Compare to Schroder ignoring or insulting Lucy as she insistently leans on his piano, demanding he place her above his music.
Just quote to Peppermint Patty, Shakespeareâs sonnet #18:
âShall I compare thee to a summerâs day?â and so on. Just tell her you will not find a definition of love in the dictionary. Love just is. But the Poets since antiquity sure have tried to describe it though.
To be fair, I imagine too many of us donât recognize when someone loves us for that first time and are oblivious unless someone spells it out for us, or tells us direct. Not just kids mind you, even adults.
Sheâs cute because I enjoy seeing her not because someone else tells me so. Cute for me may not be cute for anyone else â but if you are going to live with someone, it ought to be someone you enjoy seeing.
1Co 13:1-13: If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
Charlie Browns spent most of his early years wishing someone would love him. But he canât tell when someone actually does love him (two people actually, not forgetting Marcie in this little triangle)
Her first question, the answer was to give her a hug and a kiss Chuck.. and your just talking about Poems, prayers and promises.. You have a lot to learn young man!
Chapter One says you love her You love her with all your heartChapter Two you tell her You never, never, never, never, ever gonna partIn Chapter Three remember The meaning of romanceIn Chapter Four you break up But you give her just one more chance
Dr. McCoy: You wouldnât understand that, would you, Spock? You see, I feel sorrier for you than I do for him, because youâll never know the things that love can drive a man to. The ecstasies, the miseries, the broken rules, the desperate chances, the glorious failures, the glorious victories. All of these things youâll never know simply because the word âloveâ isnât written into your book.
That is exactly how things have gotten today. Canât even have a decent conversation of differing views anymore without being blocked from social media, etc.
So my sophomore year of high school I joined a a musical called âThe world according to snoopyâ and we actually had this scene followed up by a song by peppermint patty called âPoor sweet babyâ
