I don’t think people ate peanut butter back in the 1700s.

Replicas are reproductions, not authentic; they would have to be made of snow from 1777/78 to be authentic.

Ah what a beautiful imagination kids had back when these were written. Fun was what you made it, not from a box connected to a television set.

I recently read “The Heart of Everything that is Valley Forge” by Bob Drury and Tom Clavin. It is an excellent book, I highly recommend it.

It starts by explaining the tactical and strategic situation during the fall of 1777. The chapter on the Battle of Paoli showed just how ruthless the British could be.

The next section tells how bad things really were at Valley Forge and why. Washington’s political battles were nearly as difficult as actual combat.

The final section shows what a strong force the Continental Army had become after passing through what was the crucible of Valley Forge. The chapter on the Battle of Monmouth shows what a decisive battlefield commander Washington truly was.

The book gives great insight into men like Washington, Hamilton, Lawrence and Von Steuben.

It’s a good book, well worth the time to read.

Of course she’ll name a lunch item that she’s familiar with. I don’t think we need any more analysis than that.

If the Bicentennial price is $17.76, wait till the Columbus Day sale and they’ll be knocked down to $14.92.

A good idea, Sally. The best souvenir is something that people can use – in this case, for neighborhood children to re-enact the famous Valley Forge Snowball Fight.

Sally has likely confused George Washington (the first president of the united states) with George Washington Carver, a botanist who studied peanuts and discovered 300 uses for the peanut and is the reason why we have peanut butter and other peanut-related products. hence the reason why there’s peanut butter on the snowballs that “George Washington” had supposedly thrown during the valley forge.

Authenticity is essential. Once you can fake that, you’ve got it made.
