    Same, Earl. I’m very intellectually pretentious, but most poetry leaves me cold. Years ago, though, I came across and English poet named Gerard Manley Hopkins and dove in pretty deep. Very moving.

    Earl might have been turned off by Percy Dovetonsils, the Ernie Kovacs character as “poet laureate.” [certainly offensive these days] Now, if it had been Kim Novak reading poetry …
