Is it better to buy all your appliances from one company or buy one from each company so you can tell which remote goes to which thing?

We only have have two – TV, Blu-ray. We used to have a cable box, but we signed up for YouTubeTV which records everything in the cloud. The TV remote controls everything through the app.

Kept asking hubby to show me what each remote was for and how to use them. But he was a procrastinator. So there they all sit.

What’s especially funny to me is this is what happened to my parents a couple days ago XD Except instead of the ceiling fan, they turned on the Christmas lights. We’re still laughing about it!

I remember characters in Gaston La Gaffe trying to shave by a transistor or taking pics by a drill.

You may need a labeler so that you can label which remote is which…

Go to a friends and he has 4 or 5 remotes. Takes him 10/15 minutes to turn on the TV and sound. It is entertaining to watch.

I have a Harmony remote, once programmed (which is very easy even for this 70 y.o) takes care of all the devices. Now I do have a box of RCs without batteries that is stored away. Bonus fewer batteries to recycle.

What Earl and Opal need is Martha Stewart! She’d tell them exactly what labels they should need for those remotes. The big problem would be finding the remotes with the labels.

Trust me, if he’s anything like my dad was the more the merrier. He bought a car a while back and was delighted that in in car stereo came with a remote control. He would even use the remote control for the Hi Fi unit we had in the living room when he was sitting right next to it.

I’m a true Luddite. I don’t like using any of them but years ago was forced to learn the basics. I actually would prefer a single keyboard type similar to the one I am using to type this comment. All the buttons in one compact panel with space for labels if needed. Wouldn’t need to be larger than about 6″×6″ if done properly and. please for heavens sake, labeled clearly and not printed black on black. At my age, my eyes are nowhere as sharp as they were and I keep a magnifying glass with me. But b-on-b is just ridiculous.

We came home and realized we (she says I) forgot to click off our fireplace remote. But now the family room is toasty warm, as opposed to 1 degree outside.

You can really use a remote for the TV because of all the commercials. And one for the garage door because of bad weather. Everything else is laziness.

Earl can’t use the TV remote that he has been using every single day? He should call his grandson who can most likely explain all of them to him and put the labels on, too.

Visited a friend at Christmas. Remotes for tv, cable, sound bar, DVD player, dining room light, fan, fireplace, Christmas lights inside, Christmas lights outside, outside fountain, community gate, garage doors (2), start each car (2), pool filter, computer, picture frame pics, kitchen counter lights, reclining chair. Was left alone for half hour and could not figure out how to turn TV on.
