The varieties of cloth and their traditional names should actually provide Earl great opportunities for lame jokes to raise Opal’s ‘piqué’:

Maybe Opal could per-‘suede’ Earl to take interest in fabrics from a humorous point of view relative to their quirky names …

I like the name of the store. At least Earl didn’t say she’s an old Sew & Sew!

I like these with them interacting about daily stuff. Makes me look forward to retirement with my husband. He will be sarcastic as well, but I love their friendship.

What does she do with all this fabric? You never see her sewing anything.

At first, I thought the carpet was flood water.

When I was a supervisor in Postal Service I was over 33 carriers. They had a joke where they said a dress suit “ Sears sold it and a sucker bought it.” They would all start laughing.

I love seersucker. I always thought it was very ‘boaty’. It makes for great shorts and light summer shirts that I envision people in New England wearing on their boats and yachts.

Seersucker: from the Persian words “shir o shekar,” meaning “milk and sugar,” describes the alternating smooth and bumpy stripes.

I believe the first seersucker suit was in the late 19th Century, when a bunch of people sued a psychic for fraud.

I don’t how it is elsewhere, but where I live, seersucker is very hard to find in our fabric stores.
