Coming Soon 👀 At the beginning of April, you’ll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
What goes on here? This looks like our Upper Midwest yard the past few weeks or so. Presumably our intrepid heroes live near the Gulf Coast so this scenario looks to be about a month or so late.
I thought that was a floating lavender bush with a shadow under it in panel one. Then I wondered why the shadow was rectangular and my perception went BOING!
This was my wife and I last night. Not gardening, but putting in a new fire pit. Cut out 200 sqft of sod and realized right quick we were idiots for doing it.
Back when I bought my home, it was legal for the builder to bury construction material under the back yard. You needed a pick ax to get past the old brick pieces, 2Ă—4s, and other garbage. Doing that is now illegal.
Did the same last Saturday, dug and planted until I remembered I forgot the sunblock and am now paying for it. Got out of the habit of sunblock with the coats and sweats.
I have been almost that tired. Literally staggering tired. It was a new experience for me. I’m still adjusting to what I persist in calling “late middle age.”
Our garden is going good. Harvest cucumbers, radishes, greens and swiss shard this morning. Zucchini, okra, tomatoes, beans, peppers and peanuts still coming up. Work early in the morning, too hot after 10 a.m. At 71, I don’t rush anything, lots of water, with break times.
Is it just me or is the implication that Arlo & Janis just had the best garden sex of their life and Janis is so satisfied Arlo has to wheel her back to the house.

Hot bath and a glass of wine and she will be fine, if she can stay awake.

I’m sort of worried about the pickaxe. Is that what you use when you’re really frustrated at your garden?

I can almost swear JJ spies on my parents because this is what happens when they work in their gardens all day.

Started 460 this year, gave away about 150 and been planting a little at a time. Got about 70 more to go. Doesn’t have to be done all in one day.

My wife has been doing the exact same thing for the past 40 years, every year without fail

My wife says it’s better to have back pain because she’s been gardening than to have it for no reason.

To the elephant in the yard, is this an intervention?

I can relate to this except someone coming to help me back into the house when I’m all worn out.

A 2 wheel wheelbarrow or large gardening wagon is a good investment for your back as you get older.

A lot of equipment…so little planted. Getting older makes the difference!

When the work is done and everything starts to grow and gets pretty, they will smile and enjoy the work they created….

Poor Janis. She looks so exhausted.

Janis has been gardening for years. Certainly she must know how much work she can get done in a day.

She took so long to get ready she wore herself out

Jimmy Jonhson, thank you very much for breaking up the idea of four distinct panels to give us the big picture.
