Not ALL visitors hold up traffic here in Florida. Just the ones who stand out.

If you’re driving in Florida, and the car in front of you stops, dead, in the road, drive around them. They’re dead.

Usually some people in Northern Europe migrate to Spain in winter. This year, there are heavy floods there as well.

I really enjoyed my 24 years of winters in Arizona. Now I’m a snow shoveller – sigh.

I happily stay up north year round. I know my roots – and I enjoy the cold (while we still have it)!

Happens everywhere. Returning from a trip out west, I came over a hill and found traffic stopped – both directions – two lane road in Wyoming. Mama bear with cub sighting! Everyone stopped for a photo shoot.

There are a group of people realtors in NC call “half-backs”. These are northerners who originally retired to FL but became disillusioned but didn’t want to go all the way back north so they moved to NC as a comprise.

Not hardly. Around here it’s usually someone from Missouri slowing things down. Or as someone here said a while ago, Missouri, The Slow Me State.

I lived in Port St Lucie Florida for a while. Traffic was okay during the summer and nuts during the winter.

A guy from my chess club said on Monday that he was heading to Florida to clean up the mess in his house. He knows that his car was destroyed. (I live in Ontario.)

When we lived in Florida, northbound traffic was always bumper to bumper as Easter approached and the snowbirds went back to their families. My husband claimed he overheard two cops on the day after Easter, one telling the other, “You know what day this is? It’s the end of left-lane season.”

At least they aren’t in Alaska, my Mom lives in Anchorage and she said they got a foot of snow over a day and half ( started Wed. night and all day Thursday). She is in the hospital so she said at least she doesn’t have to deal with it but they may discharge her this weekend, or Monday.

My first military assignment was in southern Georgia. I had to drive my car with New York State plates through a number of southern states to get there. This was pre-interstate days so you drove through “downtown Bubbaville” a lot.

I made sure I had and American Flag sticker on the back window, my military uniform hung up by the back window and wore my Air Force baseball cap. The only other thing I had going for me was that I am white.

I stopped for gas outside one small town and explored a curious sight. It was the only structure of its kind I had ever seen outside a L’il Abner cartoon: an outhouse. It was boarded up. The sign on it said, “Colored.”

All the news clips I had seen on TV did not prepare me for this. My understanding moved from by brain to my heart.
