Technically the days (sunrise to sunset) has been getting shorter for nearly 6 months in Northern hemisphere. Here we also have already hit the earliest sunset, but not the latest sunrise
The Sun will be out today, but will it be out long enough to melt the snow and warm the world? It’s 17°F Partly sunny Feels like 9°. Baby It’s Cold Outside!
Somehow I find that “Good afternoon” just doesn’t work as a pleasantry in the way that “Good morning” and “Good evening” do. I find that I just can’t feel natural saying it. If it’s remotely close to either morning or evening I’ll go with one of those, and if it’s not I’ll go with “Hello.” Though that can feel too casual.
Fortunately my midafternoons rarely see me in situations where it’s likely to come up.

And the worst part is, just when the days are shortest and most depressing, WINTER begins — Nature’s meanest trick.

Must be near the Equator- sunset lasts a few seconds, not like in our Northern latitude, where it can last literally for more than an hour.

I’m getting jaded. I should focus on the joke, but can’t get over the moon being in the wrong quarter. (Bright side should be toward the sun.)

Teacher: Can anyone name an example of how things expand when they get hot and contract when they get cold?
Johnny: In the summer days are longer and in winter they’re shorter.

Yogi Berra summed it up best: “It’s getting late earlier these days.”

Half of what Yogi Berra said was apocryphal and the other half he never even said!

Good afternoon works until midnight, yet we never say ‘good after-midnight’. (when we ‘let it all hang out’…)

If the Sun just set, the Moon should be in a Waxing Crescent phase, not a Waning Crescent. Just sayin’
