And the worst part is, just when the days are shortest and most depressing, WINTER begins — Nature’s meanest trick.

Must be near the Equator- sunset lasts a few seconds, not like in our Northern latitude, where it can last literally for more than an hour.

This is hibernation season

Technically the days (sunrise to sunset) has been getting shorter for nearly 6 months in Northern hemisphere.Here we also have already hit the earliest sunset, but not the latest sunrise

I turned on the outside lights at 3 today.

and when it gets dark at 8:30 in the summer, needs to be in the middle all the time

Yes, but we love when they start getting longer in about 9 days. :)

Next week they will start getting longer again.

That happened almost 3 months ago.

The sun sets 1 minute later starting tomorrow the 14th. Sunrise is later until the solstice.

Somehow I find that “Good afternoon” just doesn’t work as a pleasantry in the way that “Good morning” and “Good evening” do. I find that I just can’t feel natural saying it. If it’s remotely close to either morning or evening I’ll go with one of those, and if it’s not I’ll go with “Hello.” Though that can feel too casual.

Fortunately my midafternoons rarely see me in situations where it’s likely to come up.

I’m getting jaded. I should focus on the joke, but can’t get over the moon being in the wrong quarter. (Bright side should be toward the sun.)
