Georgia’s signature is beautifully placed and it took me a couple of times before I saw a certain tail sticking up

Lupin looks like a startled squirrel while Puck reminds me of my late Bagheera’s “oh don’t mind me” routine. At least he never tried the Groucho Marx disguise, LOL. Stay classy, Puck!

I never had a cat that was overly impressed with bacon. Butter, yes; cereal milk, YES; bacon, if you drop it-I’ll eat it-but otherwise-meh.

Wow, the Woman and the Man are yelling. That doesn’t happen very often. But the provocation – loss of half the bacon – is immense. Plus Lupin might need a facial due to the bacon grease. And his paws wiped. Oh heck just give him another bath.

Why am I the only one repulsed by the sugar, salt, and fat conglomeration that is bacon? The only thing that makes it tasty is the smoke. And I can add that to anything.

We’re in the process of teaching Blackjack NO, DOWN and OFF without using a squirt bottle. Yesterday when I turned my back and saw him on the counter eyeballing the cheese I was going to add to my eggwhites, he looked at me and beat feet out of the kitchen. He’s learning.

Today is the big day. Cleaning all the carpets in the house. It’s going to be a challenge.

Not only do i have a bit of back pain already, yesterday i caught two fingers in a pinch point of my garage door.

Not only am i going to be cleaning all the carpets in the house single handedly, i’m going to be doing it (as much as possible) with a single hand.

    :-J

    Wish me luck!

Thanks to all who left good wishes and advice for giving medication yesterday. He did eat a tiny bit of food but still won’t eat much. I’m afraid he’s now come to associate food with pain and is avoiding it. I will try again later today. The one medicine has a bitter taste so the vet said to offer food right after I give him that medicine and he might eat it just to get the bitter taste out of his mouth. Also, I will try to get some liquid food or maybe some baby food that I can put on my finger for him to lick off.

As for today’s strip, that bacon looks seriously undercooked, almost raw in fact. I like my bacon crispy and somebody upthread who mentioned bacon and tomato sandwiches has got me craving one. Not on toast, though. I prefer my sandwich bread untoasted.

I better go, I hear thunder approaching and we’ve lost electricity several times the last few days even without thunderstorms.

The big draw with our tribe is ham. Baked ham, “raw” ham, fried ham, boiled ham, sugar cured, black forest, it makes no never mind.

    KITTEN UPDATE

So much for supervised. That didn’t last long. We’re back to leaving the screen door open during the day, closed up only when we go to bed. The taste of the house is too much. Elvis sits and scratches on the screen. A disharmonic minor key serenade, like a cat walking only on the black keys.

So, the door is open and oddly enough, the unescorted forays are limited. We think. Elvis has also discovered Lisa’s loft. They venture out into the living room but are still very skittish. ZOOM under the sofa into the bathroom or whatever is in the direction kitten is pointed at the moment of real or perceived ALERT!

Both kittens have settled in enough with the giant humans to have stopped the single hissss when we enter the bathroom. They have also mostly stopped skittering away or stepping back when we reach in for rubbies. It is so easy to forget that they are still only a few weeks away from feral and those instincts are very near the surface.

We have progressed to wanting to tussle with the Giant Rubby Hand. Belly rubs can now turn into mild rabbit kicks and tiny gentle little gnarr gnarr nibbles only to suddenly revert to plain old rubbies. This is an area we need to be careful with. We don’t want the gentle wrestle to get too energetic. That is the path to blood….usually mine.

    FLASH: Kitten Hurricane.

As I was typing the kittens were in the shoe jungle at the front door, sniffing and rolling amongst the aromatic flora of work boots and laces. Lewis (who are these little a-holes and why are they getting my attention) was watching intently. Closer than usual, no hissing at all, getting to know you, getting to know all about you, getting to….CELL PHONE RING TONE!!!!! Scatter, run for your lives.

With a great whirl of claws and tails the shoe rug is a jumble, the kittens are in the bathroom and a startled Lewis has caught the wave and is suddenly on the other side of the room with that look that says “what? I meant to do that.”

OMC I love bacon! I know that seems odd for a vegetarian, but it’s true. I sometimes explain it by categorizing bacon as a condiment! Not that it matters but I am vegetarian more for texture reasons..

    Posting WAAYYYY late, but would you believe that I dreamt a out bacon last night? Very thinly sliced, oddly shaped, but definatly bacon! (At least, in my dream). I was trying to peel it apart to cook it, and the cats were wanting some NOW – SO unlike real life! :-}
