Let’s all live by Puck’s heart compass.

And go to Burt when we need advice.

And not have a merry kick-mas.

At this stage, not only are they all on the naughty list, it also looks as though they are all doomed.

Good morning and happy Hump Day, orbsters and orbabies! Alice and Violet, I’m sure you mean well, wanting to rescue your sister, but all you are doing is making a bad situation worse. Burt, you know the robber mice if you all live in the barn, maybe you can intercede?

Two years in a row now, I have lost someone I cared about shortly after my birthday.

Last year, it was the sister that I was closest to.

This year, it is a friend.

    Everyone is now on notice:

Absolutely NO ONE within my circle of friends, family, and loved ones is allowed to die in the month of December ever again.

If you feel that you absolutely must go, please, at least wait until January.

Burt’s sage advice, Puck is himself again. Even with the unnecessary rescue antics of Alice, I’m feeling better about this… there is hope there…

I love how Burt asks Puck if he can make an observation. Too many times people, including me (I am THE worst offender) offer well-meaning advice that the other person didn’t ask for or isn’t ready to hear. And our Pucky was smart enough to know he needed to hear someone else’s voice in this situation. I can’t believe we only have 6 more installments until Christmas, I don’t want it to end!!!

I must be having an allergic reaction or catching a cold because between panels 3 and 4 my eyes got leaky. I often have to remind myself that this is a comic strip. Then I correct myself – it is so much more. Thank you for sharing your creative juices with us. Now I must reach for a tissue to care for my ‘allergy’.

Hey, everyone, I am visiting my 91-year old in Virginia’s watermen country where the internet is almost non-existent, so I rarely make it through the comments before “buffering… pls wait…” Any word on our missing orbsters?

Agnes was right, her sister is doing something stupid. Kick the kitty in the face and spill his cookies? No better way to get Pucky mad again. Silly Alice.

    In happier news:

On Monday, I stopped by the local True Value store to ask about a traffic cone. They didn’t have any in stock, but could order one. It arrived today, and I was there just as the delivery truck arrived. I got the cone hot off the truck, and am now getting ready to decorate it.

I’m not a fan of the orange color, so I plan to paint it. Unfortunately, my camera has not worked in awhile, so I won’t be able to take a picture of the finished project to share.

    UPDATE:

Trixie had her spay on Thursday. Lisa asked them if they would please give her a bath.

They gave her that very special look that says “You want US to give your feral cat a bath? Really? REALLY?” And then they laughed and pointed and laughed and laughed.

So we have this sort of scruffy cat with a shaved belly. The surgery was uneventful (except for Trixie) and she spent the night. Bandit spent portions of the night pathetically mewing for mom and was played with quite a bit more than usual.

Mom’s return was to great joy by Bandit, not so much by Trixie. Once again that very special look that says “You rump-wipes! What am I going to do for fun on Saturday nights?” But seriously, she was a bit lethargic for about 2 days, slowly picking up energy as the incision heals and the pain fades. We gave her pain meds for a few days then tapered off.

On Sunday we propped open the screen door. It has been utterly anti-climactic. Which causes us no complaints. Trixie has still not ventured beyond the 2 steps up from the bathroom (as far as we know). Bandit has been more adventurous. On Monday we discovered her out in the living room snuffling about. She took one look and fled back to the bathroom.

She is now making regular forays into the living room, exploring under chairs and the couch and such. There has been a surprising lack of interaction between Trixie, Bandit and the others. They are aware of each other but pretty much keep their distance. A small change on that today.

    (continued)

Lisa discovered a previously unknown kitten hole next to the wet bar. She used the squeaky mouse on a string to coax Bandit out. That involved a full court press by The Stampede Partners, with all 4 vying for the mouse. Eventually Bandit emerged and there was an almost dog-like round of mutual sniffing. Tiny bit of hissing but no fuss. Bandit finally decided it was too much and fled to the bathroom.

Lisa plugged the hole because it is one of those “tear down the house to retrieve the cat” spots. We really prefer to be able to impose order in the house as required. And it is never a good thing to have to do cat retrieval 10 minutes before the vet appointment.

So, Trixie goes back in next week for stitch removal and follow up. If she doesn’t begin exploring on her own this week, we will begin the process of bring her out close to the bathroom, then slowly extending the distance as she learns how to get back to her safe place.

I’ll post again in a week or 2 with progress. Many thanks for all your encouragement and support.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, Joyous Festivus and a glorious whatever else you celebrate.
