Not just because the tail end of the IQ bell curve is pretty damned long and wide, there are people who should know better who will repeat this kind of garbage as truth.
The other day I argued with a friend that surely if someone posted something absolutely ludicrous such as “eating M&Ms cures covid” no one would believe it.
Did you know, I Read, there is this secret space station, maned by a group of idiots and one hot chick. They meet all kinds of outer space creatures, including Doughnut people!
Oh That’s absurd, You must be crazy. You know you can’t trust everything you read on the internet. Now that is scraping the bottom of the barrel.
On a serious note: Foucault’s Pendulum, by Umberto Eco. A publishing house puts out a text that incorporates conspiracy theories in way they think will be unbelievable, but then the nut jobs believe they must know something… Great book that illustrates the dangers of playing this game.
The best proof that there is no bottom to the barrel is the wide acceptance of the myth that organizations that depend on violence for survival can solve problems not related to violence.

My favorite “fact” about the moon landing is that THEY hired Stanley Kubrick to produce the footage… and he insisted on filming on location.
… Not sorry.

There really was no big bang, the universe did not expand, there are no galaxies and there are no stars and there are no planets..
It’s all just a liberal hoax to fool you that Donald Trump is not the best thing that ever happened to existence!

The Moon is not reflecting Sunlight. How could it at Night?
The Light we see is 100,000,000 Tiny Fairies having their monthly Orgy and lighting up the sky.
Fairies glow like living LEDs when they get Passionate.
