I don’t know which was worse – the game or the commercials. The only good thing was having Mahomes taken down a peg and the cameras avoiding the celebrities, political and show biz ones. The commercials were so frenetic and crammed with CGI that I couldn’t follow them or tell what the products were most of the time.
There was a great episode of “3rd Rock From the Sun” where Cindy Crawford was part of an evil alien plot to take over the Earth. The aliens made themselves look like supermodels and created a beer ad 50,000 times more powerful than any ad in human hsitory.
The entire world would rush out to get drunk and the aliens would take over.
I had my usual experience of not watching. One year I did attend a Super Bowl party, but I was outside with a fryer full of oil, frying chicken wings. I might have seen 5 minutes of the game.
If the aliens contact me and ask me about this year’s football playoffs, here’s my absolutely biased oped of what happened this year.
The entire NFL playoffs (including the super bowl) were a bit disappointing. It seemed as if all the games were decided well before the clock ran out. I don’t remember a close game at all this year in the playoffs.
Even my Superbowl meal was disappointing…I forgot to remove the card board bottom insert from the pizza before I baked it. I suppose I’m grateful it didn’t catch fire in the oven.
I’m not a fan of Tom Brady’s announcing skills and was wishing Tony Romo was there instead.
I thought the first penalty of the game was a harbinger of how the entire game was going to be biased with penalty calls. Fortunately KC was not the benefit of any more dubious game changing calls.
I muted every commercial during the Superbowl. I cannot tell you any ads that played. It kinda bothers me corporations have such deep pockets for a 30" Superbowl ad, but are so stingy paying their employees better wages/benefits.
I was happy to see the cameras focused on the game and not the celebs attending the game. I’m sure the aliens would be confused as to why they are being shown camera shots of people who came to the game to watch the game. I’m hoping they don’t have any idea of what celebrities are.
And finally. . . I’m sorry to inform the aliens that I muted and didn’t watch the half time show. I find them terribly boring.
As a long suffering Lions fan, I’m disappointed the Lions did not make the big game, but congratulations to the Eagles. They played very well and deserve the win and the title of Superbowl Champs.

The game kinda gets in the way of the ads and the self-indulgent and incomprehensible “Half time show”. and now it all starts over for next year.

most of the commercials were totally forgettable. The Dunkin’ commercial was decent. None were laugh out load funny, most did not garner a chuckle

Taylor Swift got booed, the PoopUS walked out because “his” team was losing big, and there was no “Dynasty” talk after the game. Win-Win-Win!

My wife liked the Coors sloth ad.

The Doritos one made me chuckle. That’s about it.

Those skanky little pizza rolls? I was surprised they wasted the money on a Superbowl ad. Who eats those things?

The commercials were better than the game, but that’s not saying much. I was glad that KC lost, but it would have better if they at least showed up.

Oh and everyone went out to the patio to avoid the half-time show.

Recognizing the best part.
(Please understand I’m not a sports viewer but I certainly like the artistry of a good advertisement.)
