A couple of friends raised their kids on a sailboat for the first couple years. They once visited the waterfront in Seattle and were at the iconic Ivars Acres of Clams outdoor fish and chips stand that ran alongside the windows of the fine dining establishment inside overlooking the commuter ferries and the dock. 5 year old Abe, used to relieving himself overboard, dropped trow and bellied up to the railing and arced his micturition into the Sound with a full house of diners as witness. No word on how many were pissed off.
I am the oldest of six (that’s right, a mid-20th century Catholic mother). My mother told us that, regardless of trying to watch as much as a mother of six can, all of us around the age of two got away from her…out the door on the run and down the street. Sometimes she caught up to us and sometimes a neighbor brought the runaway home.
I suppose that if it was today the accompanying music would be “Born Free” or “On The Road Again”. I don’t mean any of the six adult children today but rather if it was a two year old now or for Calvin if he had been a bit faster.
Sorry Calvin. I remember when my son little younger then Calvin, he and a friend decided to pull their pants down and letting fly, I saw a woman driver same as I shocked and then laugh, me I opened my window as I was inside house, and yelled pull pants up the boys moved fast.
My daughter lets her 3 year old son run around naked so he doesn’t pee in his pants. Don’t laugh, it works because he doesn’t want it splashing up on his legs. Go figure.

You were trying to leave home nude. Of course you weren’t getting away with that

My kids were all nudists at heart. For quite a few years. Though as far as I know they mostly wear clothing outside now that they’re adult. I suppose.

Calvin made two mistakes today. First, he forgot to bring Hobbes. Second, he should have waited until he was outside to leave his clothes.

When you think about it, a small child not being able to play outside nude in the summer time is an odd cultural taboo.
