Looks like Calvin needs to hire Tom Smothers to teach him yo-yo tricks.

Are you kidding? yoyoing is very difficult and takes lots of practice and dexterity. i never mastered it. : (

Ah, yes—doing yo-yo tricks REALLY builds character!! Right, Dad??

You are wrong Calvin, all that hand maneuvers are preparing for “virtual reality”.

If you learn the physics behind those yo-yo tricks, that might do you some good.

… and/or impress girls. Useful whether you like OR hate them…

My brother was an expert with a yo-yo. I could barely get one to go up and down!

But those are the lessons that bring contentment when mastered. They kinda make up for the ones that don’t work so well. Mess up on one, Well, I can always yo-yo.

You never know, Calvin…there may be an opportunity where you have to use that skill…

I just bought a Yo Yo last week, I’m 69 next month and still playing with toys, LOL, I’m going to send my grandsons a couple of Duncan’s. Regular and Butterfly.

As a kid, I spent hours playing with one of those things. Even made a small one out of some pieces of a Tinkertoy set.

Just ahead of your time, Calvin. You would have had many followers if you had had YouTube, TikTok, etc.

Yo Yo ing teaches co-ordination and alertness…

And yet, he can’t ride his bicycle without it killing him. :P

Consider the possibility that your teachers can do it even better, Calvin. Very deflating.

I’m horrible at yo yo’s

Juggling- Catch a ball, decide what to do with it, get rid of it and move on to the next thing that comes along.

It keeps you busy and out of mischief…..

Sounds like the majority of college students that graduate with a degree that might get them flipping burgers or drying cars at a car wash.

Now that I have more time, I’m thinking maybe I could try the yo-yo again and maybe make it come back more than once. …or I could just watch tiktok for a couple of hours.

Those skills are the best!

I remember the hours I spent as a kid learning various tricks with a yo-yo. I haven’t seen a yo-yo in decades and probably couldn’t even get it to go up and down now.

I’m sure that yo-yo has some application in real life, Calvin.

Hey, don’t knock it, kid – Tom Smothers had an entire second career as The Yo-Yo Man.

The easiest to do for me were “Around the World” and “Walking the Dog”. The hardest I attempted (and got only a couple of times), was “Rocking the Baby”…

He could become the Joey Chestnut of the yo-yo

This why we need to bring back the draft – for both sexes. The military has great training and education programs. And maintains total control over its weapons. Whick is good in Calvin’s case.

That makes you unique.

At least he finally says it. He learns what he wants to, not what he’s forced to.

Reminds me of guy I worked with. His son’s biggest point of pride is that he had won some kind of award for continuous time typing on a smartphone. !!!!

Never figured out how those work. I call them Yos because they go down and stay there.

Calvin was just ahead of his time. Today, he could make a fortune doing yo yo tricks on TikTok and the like.
