I have to admit, I am very disappointed with this settlement that does not include the requirement of an on-air retraction with multiple repeats on every Faux “News” show for a month, a year, or whatever. I also would have loved to see Rupert Murdoch, Tucker Carlson, Jeanine Piro, Maria Bartiromo, squirming under cross-examination in the witness seat, under oath.
I wanted a healthy dose of very public disinfecting by sunlight, but we can still look forward to Dominion’s separate lawsuits against Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, Mike “the Pillow guy” Lindell, NoiseMax and OAN. Hopefully someone will take it to a trial.
And yes, Smartmatic — the other voting machine manufacturer that was defamed by all of the above (and which has an even stronger case because none of their machines were even involved in any of the critical swing state elections) is also now waiting in the wings for its turn at Faux “News” and all the others.
Next; Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, and Mike Lindell. Hopefully Smartmatic will deal the death blow to Fox Spews. Otherwise, it’s business as usual for Fox.
I’m surprised I haven’t heard anything about the separate case against Lou Dobbs. He’s the only one Fox fired and Dominion filed against him personally.
So, once again faux news gets away with it. They pay a minor(for them) fine and can claim vindication and that none of the “rumors” about them lying have any basis in fact. They will say there is no, and never was, any evidence that anything they did was wrong and those who already believe them will agree. They can claim that all the emails and such that Dominion “claimed” it had are fake and practically slander. By settling Dominion gives faux and their ilk permission to continue with the lies and slanders that are the core of the murdoch model of “journalism”. Once again we get our hopes up that someone, ANYONE, on the reich will face a real consequence, and once again they slither out of it. Just like trump.
Baloney! They settled for less than half the money — petty cash for Fox and the Murdochs. And they didn’t even get an admission of guilt, let alone an admission of culpability!
Bear in mind that Dominion is owned by a private-equity fund. One might guess that politics or public service are at best secondary interests to just collecting a huge wad of cash. Not huge for dominion, but many (20?) times the prior value of the whole Dominion operation.
One does hope that Smartmatic will indeed go all the way with their suit, collect a whole lot more, and get all the people and lies out in public and on the record for future reference.
that’s merely the price of doing business. no consequences. (they have billions – this is a pittance) no on-air hosts on the stand admitting their culpability, and they are free to slide back into their propaganda/misinfotainment aided & abetted by The NY Post, the Wall Street Journal, & whatever other rag this s—t-storm-stirrer owns. he ought to be deported & stripped of American citizenship. this is a crime, not a faux pas.
It changes nothing :/ Odds are they were waiting to hear what the settlement amount would be in the first place, knowing they could pay it and move on. Now they can continue their lies with no remorse (as if they had any to begin with…)
Another few 000’s on the settlement would have been better because that old bastid will still try with every single chance he gets to pass of his sorry tuchus as being in sackcloth and ashes but we all know that the chances of his repenting are about 1,000,000,000,000,000:1
Slander and false election accusations should be vigorously prosecuted. Now, how about the long overdue trial of former Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook who fabricated the Russian Collusion Story after Trump was elected….fair is fair, right?
The trouble is stripped Murdoch has a big wardrobe back home. This judgement is a severe slap on the wrist, but better a little drop in the polls now, than a lot of drops later.
Reduced to a little over 700 million. No apology, (I thought Dominion really wanted an apology). To me it looks like Fox can claim victory. Did they have some interesting evidence on Dominion?
Nope, the payoff was chump change and Fox “news” didn’t even have to admit what they did (and are still doing) on the broadcast. Fox will just raise the price they are charging the cable companies. I want to know what Fox was so afraid was going to come out in court given what we already know.
I wish this were literal. I’d love to see Murdoch, Carlson Hannity and the rest sentenced to run around in their skivvies for a few weeks. It’s not even salicious, just for the embarrassment factor.
Ahh, this isn’t the end for the Fox liars. The settlement with Dominion only applies to the company, there is nothing to stop Dominion going after Rupert, Carlson, Hannity etc. Watch this space.
$787 million doesn’t begin to cover the damage Murdoch has done to this country, let alone their promotion of fascism upon the entire English speaking world. SmartMatic’s $2.7 billion lawsuit is next. I hope they grow a pair and refuse to settle.
I’d be okay with the settlement, but only as long as Faux News was forced to make an official public apology, on their channel at prime time, every night for a week, and admit that they all lied, every single one of the sick, evil little gremlins, Tucker, Hannity, Piro, Ingraham, all of them, and Rupert, too. At least maybe a few of their bonehead, gullible, deranged followers would get it and the veil would fall from their eyes.

If only, Clay.
I read that Fox’ revenue are on the order of $10 bil per year. Not exactly a crippling loss.
Probably tax deductible, as well.
