So it is a trip to the moon! “Fly Me to the Moon!”

So … what’s going on? What are they up to????

Now this takes me back to the time when I was a kid and the Mooncoupé was in use all the time.

Responding to daedalusomega’s comment from yesterday: “Retik (9/30) has horns?”Here’s the only pic we’ve seen of Retik, from the 9/30 strip as you said. Tell you what, those do look like horns. Up to now, I had thought they were just bald patches, part of an odd hair style. But now I’m convinced Retik is a moon man.

By the way – Kudos to GoComics’ colorist for getting Diet Smith’s hair right! (Comics Kingdom gave him bright orange hair and moustache! Ouch!)I’ve complained many times about coloring errors, and one of my biggest complaints is when a regular character is colored inaccurately.So I want to praise GoComics for getting not just Diet’s hair right, but also Stephanie’s red hair.IMHO, the color work here has been improving, and I want to give credit where it’s due.

Will we get an Apollo 8 reference out of this?

I liked the way TEAM TRACY reminded us that Diet Smith is HONEY MOON’S God Father.

It’s starting to sink in. We’re going to the MOON! I can hardly believe it. What will we see there? WHO will we see there? I CAN’T WAIT TO FIND OUT!!!!!

Christmas with the Grand Parents is always nice.

I really hope that we aren’t going to see the return of the flying garbage cans and the “space coupe” permanently to the strip

A trip to the moon? Booyah!

I wouldn’t expect it. The very first series of strips by the new team made the point that Diet Smith feared that putting his magnetic technology into wide use would inevitably put it into the hands of criminals, and he would go to any lengths (including withdrawing the Coupe and personal flying machines, and creating the cover story that magnetic travel had dangerous side effects) to prevent that. The stage seems to have already been set for this to be a one-off Christmas tale.

But you never know, of course… Team Tracy has been serving up some surprises.

A lot of us (including myself) are having fond memories of the once-maligned Moon Period. While a return to see the other side of the family sounds like fun for this story arc, consider this…currently, in Tracy’s city, it’s already Christmas Eve. A lot of hush-hush stuff is going-on at the “Moon Suite”. While I wouldn’t rule-out a quick trip to visit the rest of Honeymoon’s family, perhaps DS and DT are using the Space Coupe as a means to be philantrophic (and to test-drive it, since while the Space Coupe is said to be fully-operational, it hasn’t been used for some time) and spread some Christmas cheer to kids who have nothing…

wouldnt it be GREAT if, when starting up the space coupe, it makes a “BANG ZOOM” sound? lol!

one other thing… i didnt know junior was so close to diet smith that he would name him as honeymoons godfather.

syd, tarry, vistabill, ken.. anyone shed some light on the relsationship/bond between junior and diet.. or was it simply because if it werent for him inventing the space coupe junior would never have met moon maid to begin with?

Really enjoying this story. But, “Godfather Smith?” Really? How about “Uncle Diet?” That seems more like something someone would actually say.

Wow! I’m not sure which upcoming Christmas space adventure I’m looking forward to more; The Tracy family or Dr. Who!

I read this strip every day and love it. And so happy that after all these years they’re going back to the moon. Exciting times!

I’m not so sure as some seem to be that a trip to the moon is in store. All the secrecy (turning off Wrist Wizards, etc.) seems to point to something more earth-bound. A philanthropic/testing the old coupe trip? A secret search for something/someone?

re: Christmas Eve 1969That’s a powerful reminder of why I looked forward to the Christmas strips when I was young. It usually meant Moon Maid would show up looking like that. To put it like B.O., Tarnation, she was hot!

anyone happen to have pics of moon maid when she was pregnant with honeymoon? that would be interesting.. to see if she still fit herself into the costume while flashing a baby bump at the same time lol

All these ridiculous pics of the “Moon people” are, to me, a perfect example of WHY the Moon period should stay dead and buried!

Moon Maid’s mother looked to be in as good of shape as she is.

Bringing Mysta back has raised fan excitement and involvement around here like nothing else has in the last 35 years. Everything about her story has been terrific in my opinion, but if there were certain parts I didn’t care for as much, I’d keep my eyes on the bigger picture: that Dick Tracy is 10000 times more entertaining today that it was just two years ago. Not every story or scenario Mike and Joe cook up is going to be my favorite, but I can happily live with the less favorite elements because the overall quality of the strip is so fantastic.
