Crystal: "Leslie Knox! Principal Hightower wants to see you about the incident in the restroom"
Leslie: "Hey, who told? You? HUH?"
Crystal: "You didn't hear about the school's new security cameras?"
Leslie: "JUST A FRIENDLY CHAT HERE!"
I finally figured out who that boy band is there, in the shadowsâŠItâs none other thanâŠ. "New Kids In The Hall "!âŠ..â It seems recently, in January/February, Greg sends the one âleast hero-isticâ character to go up against a bad guyâŠ.a sort of âmatch of antagonistsâ âŠThere was TJ vs. Ann⊠could it be, this year, Crys vs. Les in a âLoser Leaves Townâ match, like the old days of âwrasslinâ ? â Could Crystal be ssending this âHound Dogâ on a mission to chase his own tail?âŠCould she be telling the truth about telling on him, and then bluffing her next step, when Les pressed?âŠLying is definitely reprehensible⊠hope that she isnt â ârightingâ a wrong with a wrongâ!âŠ
If sheâs trying to get him to go confess himself to the principal, then he has to describe what the circumstances were that resulted in him punching Knute. Including K.âs having struck the first âblowâ (something Crystal didnât witness). The unblinking eye of a security camera, imaginary or no, would have caught that.
âBrought to youâ byâŠParsonâs SecurityâŠ. âTech so effective, they wonât need to see any more!ââŠ. â Tyson CamerasâŠ. "Winners of the prestigious B. Lack and B. Luen âEyeâ award!âŠ" â Eddy T. âNew security cameras in the menâs restroom. Will Leslie Knox really be stupid enough to believe this? While he might be concerned about being seen beating up Knute, he might be more concerned about all the times the camera saw him using a urinal out in the open with his man parts out of his pants.â
ââŠI expect by the end of it Leslie Knox will be doing time in jail.âMore than likely this is supposed to spur Les to a low-key profile, even a disappearance to avoid authority.
Where does it say the cameras are in the bathroom? She could mean in the hall, so back off! From Leslieâs reaction, he is also thinking in the hall. This is how this strip gets so out of hand . Stuff is made up in the comments and then becomes gospel.
Has anyone ever noticed that Greg draws Les somewhat like a long-haired young Bob Hope? The ski slope nose etc and itâs odd that Bob Hopeâs real first name was âLeslieâ. I have some of those old Bob Hope comics they made in the 1960s and wonder if that is where he got a little of his inspiration for him.
This also proves that Leslie didnât believe Knute, when he said Crystal was in the bathroom, for those who believed that he was saying âshould be funâ on purpose!âŠ
Actually, either way (though yours was the more direct one, Lol!)âŠ. â But one reason I gave the Facebook page URL in addition, as even the âStudioâ suggested, is to follow when the site will be back up, also there are other strips one can follow on the Facebook page, in addition to our LuannâŠ. and too, Gregâs FB page has some things that isnât going to be on the âStudioâ âs siteâŠ.
Les will be doing time very soon, whether Crysis instrumental or not. At the moment she isleading him up the garden path, where he willsoon find himself up to his eyeballs in excrem-ental effluvia.
Exactly, she didnât say in restroom she just said new security cameras. It would show, in Leslieâs mind, she going in, lute trying to stop himâŠToo much conclusion jumping here.
Iâm thinking we are about to see Leslie get hisâŠ.compliments of Crystal. Heâs going to be tricked into spilling the beans on himself. LOLâŠ.wait for it ;-)
your immaturity is showing. I guess you havenât lived long enough to see how often menâs restrooms are used to handle the overflow from he womenâs rooms. Not only was Knute justified for trying to protect Crystal but Leslie could end up being prosecuted for sexual assault. You donât even have to be convicted for that stigma to ruin your life.
âIs Leslie wearing a suit with a black tie to school?â.Doesnât everyone?.Now it is time to go to explain to the principal what the principal has never heard about in the first place. Letâs see if he condemns himself as he indemnifies himself.
Some days Iâm even slower than usual.in panel 2 Leslie is trying to intimidate poor, little helpless Crystal.in panel 3 she has convinced him cameras have recorded his current actions and he has to lie for the camera and pretend it was a friendly interaction rather than a bully doing his THANG..Fear of being caught is all that constrains many..CAMERAS FOR THE MASSES â NOT JUST FOR BIG BROTHER
Why would Leslie care? He should say, âOh, the incident in which Knute jumped me from behind and tried to strangle me, until I fought him off? Boy, I hope Knute gets suspended! Iâll be happy to give the Principal my statement, you bet!â
@seismic-2 (and @ReallyBad), time to look inward. When almost everyone else thinks different, and the guy you are rooting for is getting in trouble, maybe its your own ethics that need a rethink?
Or maybe youâre gonna double down?
âFairâ is treating everyone special. And I think youâll find thereâs no âregulationâ about women in menâs rooms. After all, most of those who clean up are women.
Clearly, Knuteâs some kind of Official Volunteer Cleaner. With the right to shut down the bathroom. (What a domain ;) )
Crystal looks very smart. Les Knox looks rattled. Step One of the implementation of her Secret Power is complete. In fact, Les thinks heâs posing for the camera as he looks up while putting a âfriendlyâ arm around Crystalâs shoulders. And now, on to Step TwoâŠ.
Author has never said the good guys were always rightHe spells out that they were wrong, or at the very least handled situations wrongly..Nonetheless, we can root for those who mean well and dislike those who use force and bullying as a rule, even when they havenât been in the clear-cut wrong..you are free to root for Leslie if he is your ideal
I was down reading Luann Againn. I noticed something odd. Aaron Hill is sitting behind her. I noticed that on NCIS, tonight, Aaron Hill is one of the actors. He wouldnât be the same Aaron Hill, would he?
Bullying is most often carried out where authorities cannot see it. Doesnât take much imagination to realize that restrooms are an ideal arena â besides the bullyâs peers can see it, and thatâs often a benefit to the attacker. So the authorities would see themselves justified in discreetly placing cameras in the restrooms, and if confronted they would say they are just protecting the victims. Thatâs what Edward Snowden was revealing. If this occurs in âhigh governmentâ, dontcha think this could apply in high school?
-If so, I hope he does it in a fashion that incriminates Knute for attacking him first and Crystal for being in the boyâs bathroom,-Given that Les demanded that Crystal tell him âwho told herâ in the second frame, my take is that Les does not believe for one second that Crystal was actually in the boys room at all. -So if he does go to the principalâs office (very unlikely; heâs not that dumb), why would he mention something that he doesnât believe was true?
good point, so many miss the obvious things because they donât realize punctuation marks actually have meaning, that they arenât just random scribbles for the fun of it (not that they arenât fun)
-Since you are so disappointed in this comic, I have to ask why you continue to read it. Seriously. There are a lot of other comics, why not pick one that is more to your liking? The cartoonist has been writing this way for some time now, and has amassed a large following. Why would he change what has been a winning formula for him?-By the way, if you are reading as closely as you think you have been, you would realize that Lesâs reaction in the second frame of the comic suggests that he never thought Crystal was in the boys room, because heâs demanding to know who told her about it. So, if he did go to the principalâs office (which is highly unlikely), he wouldnât report her âinfiltrationâ of the restroom. Heâd only report that he was attacked and defended himselfâŠ-You might enjoy the cartoons âBaldoâ or âZitsâ that are also about teens. Try them. Maybe theyâll make your day happier, instead of a âreally badâ dayâŠ.
âKnute (who not known for lying) told Les that Crystal was in there.â,Plus as Clone #53 pointed out, the question was not who told Crystal about it but did Crystal tell the principal about it.
âCrystal has used her comment about the cameras to intimidate Leslie.â.Yes, she has. She has scared poor little Leslie into thinking his deeds may have been recorded and the way he is trying to intimidate her in panel 2 may have been recorded, so he is forced to pretend to be friendly in panel 3 to explain it all away.
Last week, Knute (who not known for lying) told Les that Crystal was in there. ^Being told something (even if from a credible source) and believing said information are two different things⊠â If someone told you your significant other were cheating, or that your car is totaled, a passing thought would be to either believe that one is either âjust goofing aroundâ, or in the case of someone you donât get along with (as would be the case with Les and Knute), you would choose to disregard said informationâŠ
âfalse premise. corrected: âyou push your way past a man whoâs advised you the facility is currently occupied by the other sexâ.â.In this Leslie is innocent. He didnât push Knute aside, just went past him.
âIf TJ is not sent to jail. there ainât nobody in the strip headed that way.â.âI think this is going to be kept an in-school matter.â.I donât think Leviticus meant for this particular incident where Leslie clearly has grounds for his actions â even if some of us disagree with them â but rather for future actions his attitude leads us to expect.
Sorry.. Actually, I had read that for myself, and addressed this same thing in response to Argy at the same time as you responded to me about thisâŠâŠthat is, before I hit ârefresh commentsâ
âLeslie could end up being prosecuted for sexual assault.â.âExcept that the âsexual assaultâ that you speak of never happened.â..Physically touching her after obviously trying to intimidate her could be taken that way for current actions.(nobody would, but could)..There would have to be reliable witnesses such as cameras but cameras are even in telephones these days.
Iâll try to be more careful in the future, lest I draw any more grammatical ire⊠the flashbacks to the yardsticks in the schoolyard were a bit much to bear, and so I now choose to consider myself duly motivatedâŠ
âCrystal is trying to punish someone who tried to use the bathroom she took over (which the strip has already indicated is not allowed), and for punching her friend who attacked her in the restroom from behind.â.HIM. Leslie is a him.Knute attacked him.Knute attacked him in a misguided attempt to protect Crystal..Even though Crystalâs use of the boyâs room is terrible, terrible, terrible and Knute was terrible, terrible, terrible for abetting in this most heinous felony and both admit they did wrongly, the fact remains Crystal is wishing to punish Leslie for hitting her sweet baboo.,
âSheâs been a selfish twat this whole storyline.â.Nah, she had a biological need which she could not deny and the school obviously has ten times as many boyâs rooms as it has girlâs rooms, so she was using what was available rather than put the school in DefCon One and tie up a HazMat Team. That isnât as selfish as it seems to you. Definitely not a twat, even though we assume she has one.. â Secret restroom cameras in a high school would be highly illegal.â.Of course they would. The assumption that he couldnât be fooled by a mere woman, though, is questionable.-âLes might even get off for self defense and admitting to what happened.â.He probably could if he had cameras to back up his version of what went down. In fact, he needs a reliable witness that anything happened even if he confesses/accuses.-âBonus trivia question! You walk into a bathroom and a man chokes you from behind. Do you: B: let him choke you until you pass out and/or get raped.â.So you think Knute was trying to rape him? That would definitely make Knute a villain and is no trivial matter..I wouldnât have done it because I wouldnât have gone in the restroom knowing there was a GIRL in there, and they got cooties. We all have our priorities.
Where does Les âpush (his) way past a man whoâs advised you the facility is currently occupied by the other sexâ?Knute is leaning against the ajoining wall with his arms folded as Les opens the door to the restroom. and gives his line.Knute is not blocking the door in any fashion, so there is no "push"ing involved except as required to open the door. What strip are YOU reading?
So, Lesâ fate is sealed and he alone s to be punished, all justification for his actions to the contrary, just to satisfy Evansâ hatred of someone from his past?Talk about your âBizarro LuannââŠ
âCrystal, you know better than to use the boysâ room unless itâs an absolute emergency. Suspended.
âKnute, your heart may have been in the right place, but you know the rules about fighting. Possible danger and actual danger are two different things, you jumped the gun, and that makes you the instigator. Suspended.â
âLes, you were inconvenienced, no argument. But, A) You have the right to protect yourself, but when you go past that and then attack someone yourself, instead of reporting the incident, you put yourself in the soup too and B) You (Of all people, if what Knute and Crystal have told me about incidents with Rosa and Tiffiany is true) donât make âcuteâ remarks that could be mistaken for a threat, especially one possibly sexual in nature. Suspended.â
I was responding to what JPW said⊠JPW was saying that he believes that since Knute is not known to be a liar, that this would be part of the basis to conclude that Leslie should not have had any excuse to disregard him when he warned about Crystal being in the bathroom⊠â At which point I was saying that regardless of the credibility of someone, the other isnât under any obligation to believe him⊠and that there are situations that even if one told the truth, there would be a passing moment of feeling the other was âpulling your legâ (as in the couple of situations that I used in my response above for examples)âŠ.
Isnât âIf you donât behave in the restroom, the principal will know because he is watching you on secret cameras in there,â what teachers used to tell the kindergarteners, and the first graders would set the kindergarteners straight? What is the matter, Leslie? Didnât you go to kindergarten?
Thus, there IS (was) a camera in the boyâs restroom.âââââââââââââââââââââââââThat, at best, is just an assumption on your part.
Itâs as good as any other, and certainly better than some others have made up by reading in their own opinions into the story.
And mine isnât an assumption, itâs speculation. It seems like the only way Crystal could âshowâ that Les attacked Knute without showing Kâs aggression first.
Letâs see, entrapment is getting someone to commit a crime he would not normally commit..While Crystal may be planning to lure our hero, Leslie into committing a crime, just telling him the principal wants to see him regarding the incident is not pushing him to criminal acts..If Leslie goes to the principalâs office and says,âCrystal told me the principal wanted ro speak with me,â most likely the secretary would say. âNope, not to my knowledge. Do you know what it was concerning?â.Whereupon Leslie would say, âNo,â and that would be the end of it other than Crystal getting in trouble with the school and the unlikely possibility Crystal would be attacked if any violent people were involved..Entrapment seems unlikely.
And you are right there was no sexual assault in the restroom.Nor elsewhere in this strip. If you want to stir up a hornetâs nest, though, suggest that not all such claims are valid.(Note: i didnât suggest it here, wouldnât dare, wouldnât be prudent.)
Leslie Knox is just lucky that dear little Shannon didnât show up to bite his finger off. Such is the fate of villains, real or perceived, in the Luannverse.
Perhaps, all three of them should face some form of penance for their part in what happened.^Thatâs nearly similar to a thought I put forth last weekâŠ. that maybe itâs possible (conceivable) that either all three are guilty, or maybe that all three are each innocent., and not just the âsomeone is always right and someone is always wrongâ kind of thought, usually depending on who a person would be drawn to side withâŠ.
Methinks your lenses are a wee bit out of focus..You confidently assert our good friend, Leslie, wouldnât have touched/yelled at Crystal had she not told him that she had told on him. Given the fact Crystal had NOT claimed to have ratted on Leslie, that claim is self-evidently false. In fact, she did not even mention what the incident was..Your legal definition of entrapment leaves a bit to be desired. The idea that doing anything that would result in anyone committing a crime is fascinating. Banks are guilty of entrapment by having large sums of money which will seduce people to rob banks.Women are guilty of entrapment by walking around with their faces uncovered which will seduce law-abiding men to become rapists.Drug dealers are guilty of entrapment by carrying illicit drugs for sale which will seduce good people to shoot up heroin..Ah, but the banks, bare-faced women and pushers donât want the people arrested? The first two sets do. More to the point, there will always be SOMETHING which will tempt those so inclined to commit crimes..It is not illegal to have money in the bank, a bare face or even to commit the sin of lying (assuming she is) even though it will sometimes result in crimes. Even the crime of offering illegal drugs does not absolve the buyer even though so far it lands the dealers in jail too if caught, charged and convicted..Crystal is not yet a criminal other than for relieving herself in an unsanctioned location. Cast her in your dungeon for that heinous crime if you must but not for other imaginary felonies.
Then I can walk into your living room, making it de facto my living room, too? And if you arenât at home at the time, can I keep you out if what has become my house?
Possession is 9/10âs of the law. That 90% is intended to keep things in the possession of their rightful owners. For the rest room in question, that was the male students. Crystal is, in effect, a restroom âthief.â (Technically, sheâs a âsquatterâ. but under the circumstances, that would be a terrible pun!)
âPossession (is) 9/10ths of the lawâ-âââââââââââââââââââ-I actually had a cop tell me that once, and I had to ask him; âthen why do you guys chase burglars?"He didnât really answer thatâŠ
@Dave53LOL, that has stretch marks all over itâŠ:)-ââââââââââââââââââ-As much as I hate them, there ought to be a âLikeâ button here.
I canât swear to it, but have been told the nine tenths of the law statement means nine tenths of all law concerns questions of ownership, how you own a thing rather than someone else owning it..People have proudly announced native americans believed it was not possible to own the land. If so, those who sold Manhattan or some other piece of land to Europeans thought they were defrauding them of their money or whatever was given in exchange, but that was okay too because they also didnât REALLY own that either. In fact, there was a heap of fighting, stealing and killing over territory, personal effects and even people, all under the idea power to take was all that mattered..Our legal system is set up under the concept of legally establishing posession and enforcing that establishment. (Even Crystalâs actions were fair examples of the idea you are free to use what nobody else is using, just as Europeans figured nobody was really using most of North America, because vastly more people could grow crops on it, whereas the Native Americans were using it for hunting and gathering and they were constantly having off other hunter gatherers. After they took it, they were angry over those same people hunting their cattle and gathering their crops.).Come to think of it the entire toilet saga was a good metaphor for the invasion of the Americas by the Europeans.
Iâve seen the take-over of a menâs room by women on television to comedic effect where the men suddenly rush out, hastily re-dressing themselves upon entry of the females.Whereas, in âreal lifeâ, unless an authority figure tells me to clear out, I donât care. I have my âbusinessâ to attend to. If it offends the dainty sensibilities of someone closeted in a stall, too bad. The sounds and smells that emanate from the human body have to be tolerated if one is in a public (read: shared) facility no matter the sex.The calls for uni-sex restrooms are NOT going to happen in American public (or private) schools simply because teenagers in this country are steeped in a culture of SEX . It just wouldnât work.(The joke comes to mind that only an engineer would place a playground next to a toxic waste dump.)
Here I am on the end of things again: Crystal seems to be using her âWoman Powerâ⊠Thereâs going to be trouble once Leslie finds out Crystal lied about the principal wanting to see him⊠Maybe that will be funnyâŠI donât know. Will probably find out in tomorrowâs strip⊠;)
ââŠI hope Aaron Hill will make a huge comeback since he was Luannâs first love.â He canât come back because he was sacrificed to a local Hawaiian volcano⊠;)
ââŠCrystalâs power isâŠof⊠not of lying, but is instead the power of suggestion.â Hear, Hear! Very good show! Actually, I think this is the best explanation of her âpower.â ;)
ââŠlets enter the 20th century and have cameras where they belong and are effective and have âUni-sex rest roomsâŠâ Actually, this is the 21st century and one would think that there Would be uni-sex bathrooms by nowâŠhowever, Iâve only seen gender-neutral bathrooms as being one room only and not a room with multiple facilities⊠;)
âMy kids had to diagram sentences in school fairly recently. They didnât like it any more than I did when I was in school.â As Charlie Brown would say, AAAuuuuuuuuuuggggggggghhhhhhh!!! ;)
âPerhaps, all three of them should face some form of penance for their (Crystal, Knute, Leslie) part in what happened.â That is the best solution I have come across in my reading of todayâs posts!⊠;)
Yes, she mentions the incident but does not describe it. There are many restrooms and many incidents. And the incident could have been an off-stage mugging, someone wetting his pants, Knute attacking an innocent child.Simply saying âthe incidentâ is not informative.
âDonât play the dummy.âThe incidentâ can only relate to the interaction between Les and Knute. Everyone knows Crystal is Kâs main squeeze, she could hardly be uninformed about what happened to him.â-She could be misinformed. Most importantly, there is no actual statement that the principal has been informed at all or of the particulars.. Iâm not a dummy â or donât think I am â when I say Crystal hasnât spelled it out for Leslie Knox. I donât understand why you accuse me of playing âthe dummy.â She is letting his own imagination work against him. âŠWhat does she know? âŠ.Does she have proof? âŠ..How will others look at it? âŠâŠWere there other witnesses?âŠâŠ.How did THEY describe it?-Another thing worth considering is the one of whether or not Leslie had the right to be where he was at the time. âŠWas he supposed to be in the Gym? âŠ.Did he have a hall pass?âŠ..Was he supposed to be going to a restroom on the other side of the school near his classroom?âŠâŠIf the accusations included him using some sort of contraband, would they search him?âŠâŠ.What might they find if they did decide to search him?-You sort of understand but might consider more deeply as to how it would look through Leslieâs eyes.

David Huie Green LikeNobody'sEverSeen about 11 years ago

David Huie Green LikeNobody'sEverSeen about 11 years ago
âCrystal has used her comment about the cameras to intimidate Leslie.â.Yes, she has. She has scared poor little Leslie into thinking his deeds may have been recorded and the way he is trying to intimidate her in panel 2 may have been recorded, so he is forced to pretend to be friendly in panel 3 to explain it all away.
JayBluE about 11 years ago
Last week, Knute (who not known for lying) told Les that Crystal was in there. ^Being told something (even if from a credible source) and believing said information are two different things⊠â If someone told you your significant other were cheating, or that your car is totaled, a passing thought would be to either believe that one is either âjust goofing aroundâ, or in the case of someone you donât get along with (as would be the case with Les and Knute), you would choose to disregard said informationâŠ

âLeslie could end up being prosecuted for sexual assault.â.âExcept that the âsexual assaultâ that you speak of never happened.â..Physically touching her after obviously trying to intimidate her could be taken that way for current actions.(nobody would, but could)..There would have to be reliable witnesses such as cameras but cameras are even in telephones these days.

âCrystal is trying to punish someone who tried to use the bathroom she took over (which the strip has already indicated is not allowed), and for punching her friend who attacked her in the restroom from behind.â.HIM.

What strip are YOU reading?

âCrystal, you know better than to use the boysâ room unless itâs an absolute emergency. Suspended.
âKnute, your heart may have been in the right place, but you know the rules about fighting.

Itâs as good as any other, and certainly better than some others have made up by reading in their own opinions into the story.
And mine isnât an assumption, itâs speculation. It seems like the only way Crystal could âshowâ that Les attacked Knute without showing Kâs aggression first.

David Huie Green LikeNobody'sEverSeen about 11 years ago
David Huie Green LikeNobody'sEverSeen about 11 years ago

Perhaps, all three of them should face some form of penance for their part in what happened.^Thatâs nearly similar to a thought I put forth last weekâŠ. that maybe itâs possible (conceivable) that either all three are guilty, or maybe that all three are each innocent., and not just the âsomeone is always right and someone is always wrongâ kind of thought, usually depending on who a person would be drawn to side withâŠ.
David Huie Green LikeNobody'sEverSeen about 11 years ago

Yes, she mentions the incident but does not describe it. There are many restrooms and many incidents. And the incident could have been an off-stage mugging, someone wetting his pants, Knute attacking an innocent child.Simply saying âthe incidentâ is not informative.
David Huie Green LikeNobody'sEverSeen about 11 years ago
âDonât play the dummy.âThe incidentâ can only relate to the interaction between Les and Knute.
