Usually its the Guy who wants something smallâŠbut Greg has Brad saying he wants a big wedding. But, then, their relationship (Brad and Toniâs) has been nonconformist. Brad being the romantic and Toni being the practical. Makes life interesting⊠;)
One reason for it being the other way around, is that Toni is from the âsmaller(ish)â family, Brad is from the âbiggerâ family. -Also, there is the fact that Toni is more used to a more private atmosphere, due in part to the smaller size. The DeGroots are a bit larger, and fairly more stable, on the total whole, and are used to more âopennessâ and âsharing (letting everybody in on stuff)ââŠ.
I am thinking that when todayâs topic is hashed out some few hours from now, the posts might at least be 150+ âŠjust conjecture, of course.
âAway! the moor is dark beneath the moon, Rapid clouds have drank the last pale beam of even: Away! the gathering winds will call the darkness soon, And profoundest midnight shroud the serene lights of heaven.â / P. B. Shelley/ April 1814⊠The hour is late, my IS is in her crate, time to call it a day and say, âNite all! ;)
Iâm exhausted just reading your Donnyisms. Iâm sure the guy was writing from an institution or a âhomeâ. Iâm wondering if heâs lost his internet priviledges. Strait jacket maybe? Do they even use those anymore?
Toni should do what Mary did in âAbout Timeâ to force Brad into making these wedding decisions (I wonât spoil what she did for those who havenât seen the movie, plus the fact for the younger people who read these messages itâs not kid-friendly).
A huge wedding on two firefighterâs salaries? Reality will set in with Brad. Frank and Nancy might contribute some, but Toniâs an orphan. So who will be paying for the wedding?
A while back, TJ indicated that their caterer decision is already made. What concoction will he dream up? Everyone will have gastroenteritis after the reception. Brad and Toni will spend their wedding night in the emergency room!
Average firefigher salaries in California ranged from $33,000 to $40,000. Firefigher paramedics could get as much as $55,000 in some places. -Not terrible, but considering that this is a job where your life is at risk, not as much as it could be.
Maybe Toni doesnât want a lot of people to see who she is marrying. Brad wants everyone he knows to see who he is getting married to. Neither one seems very eager to get married.
Since itâs been suggested that there will be drama about Brad and Toniâs wedding, Iâm figuring there will be a lot of disagreement about whether the wedding will be huge, manageable or small. And ultimately, the two WILL probably elope!
âA Book of Verses underneath the Bough,/A loaf of Bread, a Jug of Wine, and Thou/ Beside me singing in the Wildernessâ/ Oh, Wilderness were Paradise enow!â â Omar Khayyam
Tas, youâre rightâ traditionally the brideâs parents would be comandeering the wedding. But in this case, I remember that their parents were killed in a car wreck when Toni & Josh were just teens.
My advice, for what itâs worth, have a small wedding. If you really want to invite your 6000 or so facebook friends and relatives, invite them to the reception. No gifts, BYOB.I mean, come on. Whatâs the point of going into the debt for the rest of your life? Some marriages donât even last as long as it takes to pay for it!
My wife and met on a Saturday, she moved in to my place the next week. (Kids, donât try this at home. I was 42, she was 38. We knew what we wanted). One month later, we âelopedâ with about 12 people there. Our wedding was 3 months later, which was good because our minister missed our wedding. A friend, actor who was playing a minister on TV, married us.
Always get married before the wedding. It completely relaxes you.
âIn addition, I have good reason to believe he is still posting here â I am not alone in that beliefâ*Brdsht: Iâm your friend. You know I care about you. But your comments about DW concern me. Let it go. Heâll be ok. Youâll be ok. We should miss his posts in a healthy way, or just try to forget him.*There, donât you feel better now?
-The mystery will be during the dinner, who will throw the first punch-Why does a punch have to be thrown at all? Couldnât the dinner just be a nice, friendly family dinner to get to know each other?
I wanted small, hubby wanted big. He wanted the big party, the bride in the wedding dress, (I wanted a nice tea length), all the fru-fru. Then he got deployed to Alaska for 2 months, which turned into 3 months. Who had to make all the decisions without his input?? Who came home a month before the wedding, then left again for 2 weeks for an Air Force conference?? Who came home the week before, just in time to get the license, attend the last counseling session at our church, etc., etc. All the fun stuff. Donât believe everything you hear! 7th anniversary, coming up in May, oh yeah, he picked the day because it was close to His birthdayâŠso he wouldnât forget the date. LOL!!!
I just joined this! Even though I quite taking the paper when our local one (biggest city in the state) changed to 3 days a week and more like USA Today rather than much local. I still like the comics and Luann has always been a favorite! And yes, Iâm an old blind lady (FYI: 70 and high partial legally blind for 10 year). Iâve been reading the comments for awhile, and with Brad and Toni back in the picture, Iâm going to share a poem I wrote about them. I hope you all enjoy it.
I wrote this, using a few lines from the comic. Youâll recognize T.J., et al.
AFRAID TO TAKE A CHANCE
He thought he wasnât good enough,So his hands in his pockets he shoved. He was afraid to make a commitment,Though he dated a girl that he loved.
He thought she only liked himBecause he saved her life one time.He guessed her feeling was heartfelt,But he was afraid it was only short time.
Heâd seen her with another,Though that was a year ago.He was afraid she wanted âmanlyâ,And that he was a bit soft and slow.
He thought that if he kissed her,That she might turn away.He was afraid that sheâd reject him,Though she hinted every day.
He questioned their emotions. They worked together most days.He was afraid it was only closeness,That caused him to feel that way.
He felt like a klutz when he was with her,While she seemed âtogetherâ and âcoolâ.He was afraid heâd say something stupid. He was afraid heâd come across like a fool.
He told how he felt to his parents. He told how he felt to his friend. They all told him to âgo for itâ,But he was afraid to jump in.
He told everyone but the lady âThe one who was close to his heart. He was afraid heâd get tongue-tied or blurt out,And embarrass himself at the start.
He didnât want to wear his feelings âHis uncertainty in plain view.He was afraid that sheâd laugh at him,Which would hurt him through and through.
His friend said to quit the moaning,To ask her on a real date.âNothing ventured, nothing gainedâ, he told him,Likely it would go just great.
He doesnât want her with him out of pity,So he sweats and his hairâs turning gray.Heâs debating on pins and needles,When to ask her, and what he can say
One guy told him that he is headingFor death â this might be his last dance. The tombstone will say: âDied from boredomâ âHe was afraid to take a chance.
So for all of us who are living,Sometimes we have to go out on a limb.We have to put our feet in the water,If we ever want to learn how to swim
You donât learn to fly in a classroom. You have to get in the pilotâs seat. You donât win a war on the sidelines,Youâve got to get into the heat.
Showing emotions can be mentally risky. To be emotionally numb, thereâs no strife.âSadâ and âhappyâ are part of real living, And some people are dead all their life.
So you give up fun and passionâcause you rather save a tear.Your jobâs a gamble a lot of the timeSo you wonât chance holding anything dear.
So you wander through life being aimless,And as you take your final breath,The undertaker molds your puzzling look, andOn your gravestoneâs carved: âBored to deathâ.
I love poetry (the rhyming kind). Thanks for those posts! Off Luann subject, but I wrote a poem called âBlack and Whiteâ about losing oneâs sight, and when colors fade. It got raves a few years ago at the American Council of the Blind.
Isnât it supposed to be stereotypical that itâs the bride who wants the biggest wedding possible?Anyway, my main question is âwhenâ the wedding will take place. My guess is that it might occur somewhat after Luannâs early college freshman experience.
When, where, and âHow bigâ have to be answered by the individual couple. (Expense is another issue, adding itâs own complexity.) Is this a reference to the speculation that the mysterious shadow behind the couch is Gunther? In this literary criticâs mind, it is only an absence of light. If Gunther ever saw three teenage girls in nightgowns, he would be âscared stiff!â

Probably not too different from most engaged couples, really. There are more unorganized people in the world then people who have everything planned.
