See? Gunther wasn’t being forced into this. He thought that because Mrs. B “kept him close” and because he never saw her any other way, that what he was doing with his plans and goals was all that there is . Mrs. B has been learning from her experiences, and is trying to help Gunther to not “pigeonhole” himself… a little forethought is better than even a lot of hindsight….

Interesting twist. Yesterday, I was going to post that maybe the reason Mrs. B. was giving Gunther the ’bum’s rush’ to head for Peru was that she had someone waiting in the wings that she didn’t want Gunther to know about…….….wasn’t thinking of Quill, either.

If Ms. Berger had Gunther when she was young, that means she is in her late thirties/early forties. She is still young enough to skydive, scuba dive, and other fun things!

I feel like you’re missing the great comedic stories that would come about from Gunther’s mom trying to sleep with Gunther’s friends (Quill, Ox, Knute) and Gunther trying to ruin her dates from the shadows.

Naaahhh – Once Gunther is out of the house, it’s her house, and she’s the Alpha wolf! She can do whatever she wants. But if she starts doing it while Gunther is still there, he’ll never leave it!

Just hang in there Ms. B. Gunthie will be gone soon enough!

I’ve been secretly wondering what was going to happen back at the ranch when G-man left. Quill is apparently living there before & during his 4 years at Muni— unless he has to stay in the dorm.*And he apparently isn’t going to Australia for the summer/winter break.

It’s always interesting when grown children discover that mom and dad actually were young once too with hopes and dreams that they may have put on hold for one reason or another.

An interesting twist to the story arc this week, to be certain. I like and enjoy Mrs. Berger’s attitude and ideas. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++However, I do personally think that a SUMMER in Peru would be good/potentially great for Gunther, with a full mindset that he should come back in the fall to attend University. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++That said, I doubt that is how this is going. I think Mr. Evans and his coauthor daughter are shedding characters who may not be seen for years (if ever again). Not really sure how this will end up, but of course it seems like this may evolve into a college-age sort of strip.++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++With the apparent shedding of characters, I am now wondering about the future role for TJ, and for Brad, and for Shannon? ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++It seems a strange/odd/albeit interesting metamorphosis.

Get your head out of the gutter, Gunther. Your mom is not into boys. She is thinking of the older species. With you gone, she have the freedom to go out and socialize with the males her own age and possibly date them. Some single mothers wait until their children leave the nest before starting to date again. These single mothers don’t want to divide attention and loyalties between the new man and her children or take on HIS children. Mrs. B has raised Gunther with undivided attention. Now it is her time. She wants Gunther gone to explore new things so she could also.

Quill is looking rather hunk-y in his shirtless state, just after Mrs, Berger was talking about getting “wild” after Gunther leaves for Peru. No wonder Gunther is practically having a heart attack in panel 3 (where Mrs. B’s swelling heart is a nice touch)!

I love the look of shock on Gunther’s face as he contemplate his mom “being wild”. A little like my own youngest son who is the only one to know just WHERE I met my current man (and he called it a “hook-up site” (AFF)).
