– Well, the reason being is that all some people think the District is, is the White House and the Capitol. So apart from that, there’s “no room” in anyone else’s minds for anything else! Same way some people think that as soon as you are in LA, you’ll be next to entertainment stars right off the bat, or in Dallas, you’ll all of a sudden be riding a horse, and tending to a longhorn steer…..

NOBODY hangs out at the Mall anymore.

It’s so….., “80s”.

They are expressing friendly confidence in their friend’s dreams. Nobody is really under the impression anything will just automatically work out that way.

I still can’t figure out why shopping on the internet beats out going to the mall when you can have it RIGHT NOW! at the mall rather than wait for Amazon to get their finger out.

“Mall” means something a bit different in Washington, DC than elsewhere.

“They could become your new BFFs.”*Delta – alas, if you’re going into politics, you’re going to have to be able to make and shed BFFs like they were dandruff. Unless, of course, you want to be the “Mr. Smith goes to Washington” type of politician.

BTW – when they talk about Washington balls and going to the White House, her current BFFs are joking!

Mind you, in DC, ‘The Mall’ has an entirely different meaning than elsewhere

I wonder if Mr. Evans will have the new school year start on time for the folks here (and throughout the Luannaverse) roughly around Labor Day… or if the goodbye transitions will continue into the Fall? Any predictions?

Some years ago (in the 70’s) in Washington, D.C., I noticed that you could see the slums from the upstairs window of the White House. That should have molded somebody’s outlook.

I couldn’t use the ‘reply’ function to respond to ReallyBad2’s comment about cartoonists not being able to do much with minority characters.(Half the time when I try to use the ‘reply’ function, I get a box that doesn’t let me type anything or submit anything.)-I’d suggest that ReallyBad2 and others who think cartoonists can’t do much with ‘minority’ characters take a look at strips like Morrie Turner’s Wee Pals, Herb Cantu’s Baldo and Stephen Bentley’s Herb and Jamaal.-And bear in mind that some people called ‘minorities’ in the US are among the fastest growing demographics.

True. Both, were “Patricia.” But the senior Ms. Nixon was always “Pat.” The junior was always “Tricia.” Neither were “Patty…” not in public, anyway.

Please understand I greatly regret Robin Williams’ loss, nonetheless while listening to the news this afternoon, I heard them say,

A few years ago, when Luann’s class took a field trip to Washington DC, didn’t Tiffany make some airheaded comment where she thought “The Mall” was a shopping center?
