Pig: Why is Jef the Cyclist so arrogant?
Rat: Because cyclists feel superior to everyone. There's no other group like them.
Victor: Behold, you meat-eating scum! I am Victor the Vegan!
Rat: I take that back.
Meh. If doG didn’t mean for us to eat animals, it wouldn’t have made them out of meat.In any case, vegans and such may or may not live longer, but sure as heck it will seem that way. What’s more, any extra time they might actually gain they’ll just spend fooling around with their food.
Okay, I only know one vegan. She never talks about but does cook a lot for family & friends, none of whom are even vegetarian. The reason she does so much cooking is because her food is fantastic, and everybody wants it. So, I just don’t get these comments (and yes, I’m a meat eater).
Nothing more annoying than a human who has found The Way.The Way is somehow different from the tao, though.I’m not really sure how that works. It’s probably a marketing thing.
Had me howling, as a 40+ year cyclist and 60+ year carnivore. Did vegan once for a year and a half. Was sneaking off for Big Macs near the end. That desperate.
It all depends on the motivation of the subject individual. Vegans who believe they are acting out of moral superiority ARE insufferable. Those who do it for health reasons are fine. For my part I am neither vegan nor vegetarian, though I eat very little meat because I am a heart patient. I’ve never hunted in my life, though I have no problem whatsoever with those who do. Doubt if I could hit anything if I tried. I did a little target shooting with a .22 rifle as as Boy Scout and I never even hit the paper, let alone the target printed thereon, and my eyesight has not improved in the decades since.
Get a good Vegan cookbook, Vegans are annoying but they are tasty and easy to catch, you can use compost as bait. They are free range, lean, pesticide free, organic, fair trade, gluten free, carbon neutral, green, eco-friendly and plentiful.
i got run over by a biker once. course i was laying down and he wasn’t peddling very fast so it really didn’t turn me against bikers. i am only scared of them now when i see a pack of them in different sizes wearing spandex and helmets and riding 10 speeds and coming down the bike trail. no where to go but over the edge (of the bike trail) and i’m just too old to do that fast. as for vegans i just look at the piece of lettuce, broccoli, or asparagus on their teeth while they talk and then i ask them if they have read the latest discovery about plants experiencing pain.
Any unbalanced diet is bad. If the person eating vegan style knows what nutrition is they can do fine.- Anyway, it’s usually the new converts to anything that are the most annoying. Not sure if it’s from a feeling of how awesome their new whatever will make their lives and wanting everybody to feel awesome or trying to shout over the doubts they are having.
In the Flanders/Swann song, “The Reluctant Cannibal,” the chief says to his rebellious child “If the JuJu had meant for us NOT to eat people/He wouldn’t have made us of meat!”
Awww come on. Meat eaters are the arrogant ones, if you ask me. They never hesitate to comment about my not eating meat (even if I never mention it), and make bacon jokes and other nonsense. Why do they care that I don’t eat meat? It doesn’t affect them in any meaningful way, but they still get defensive when I decline their hotdogs. Not my fault they feel guilty…
I’d love to see a conversation between Stephan Pastis and Wiley Miller. It would make for fine entertainment.…I would be willing to buy the first pitcher.Same for Albert Einstein and Niels Bohr.As long as I could listen in.
I’m a vegan and thought the strip was funny. However, people go vegan because they DON’T feel superior. I don’t feel that I am superior to other sentient beings, and I try to share the planet with animals and other humans. Instead of slaughtering animals, I acquired new habits. I’m not important enough to kill animals just for habit.

Personally, I can’t eat vegan; they’re hard to catch, and they scream like you wouldn’t believe.

Q: How can you tell if someone is a vegan?A: Don’t worry, they’ll tell YOU!
baddawg1989 almost 10 years ago
If a vegan dies from eating rancid lettuce, is it categorized as irony or poetic justice?

Haven’t seen Jef the cyclist in a while. Not that he’s been missed.

can you imagine a Vegan cyclist?
dadoctah almost 10 years ago
Vegans, nudists, atheists. Just three groups of people who identify themselves in terms of what they don’t do.
Barker62 almost 10 years ago
Vegan = can’t hunt worth a darn. Urban(and some suburban) cyclists = speed bumps.

And then there was the politician who was so committed to veganism that he didn’t want to be interviewed on “MEAT The Press”!

“So like the arrogant bicyclists, I kept him in my freezer for years to show people.”
How many arrogant bicyclists will your freezer hold, and how long will they keep? /Asking for a friend.

Some days, the comments are WAY funnier than the comics. Today is one of those days. Thank you for the laughs.

Go Comics really needs a “Like” button. Especially for this strip. Especially today.

My family eats a plant based diet… and they are very healthy! Don’t knock it unless you’ve done your research. :)

How are the writer and 99% of his readers NOT arrogant about their own lifestyle? Why does it even matter?

Victor and Jef were made for each other! Both are arrogant, self-righteous, and insufferable. May they find the fate they deserve.

Yep, that was my point. I am all for cyclists obeying the rules of the road, but most drivers are in no position to complain.
