Man in blue: I think it means we don't have to worry about it being too crowded in there.
Sign reads: Entrance Requirement: Actually practiced the morals taught by your religion.
I’ve never been able to get behind the dogma of all religions…They all claim to have started in impossible happenings……Seriously, Turning a woman to salt? Asking Abraham to kill Isaac? That’s just sick, God! I don’t need anybody to tell me we have to love each other…Any idiot can see there is no other way!……..
I can’t help but feel that if anyone actually practised the morals taught by their religion, that the pearly gates would be a lot more brimstone and fire.
At least that is under a number of obvious assumptions.
The doctrine that only Christians will be in heaven is just so twisted. I think I would actually prefer to see this sign at the pearly gates….even though I know I’d have to turn around and walk away. There’s an old joke about a huge wall in heaven…on the other side are all the Southern Baptist. The wall’s there so that they still think they’re the only ones in heaven.
Love the hovering Angel Cat & Dog. I’ve always thought of our little Shellie rescue as an angel disguised as a cat, especially for keeping me company at night with soft nuzzles & purrs when old body needs to relax & sleep.
does that mean that wearing two different cloths won’t get you in? or, touching and eating of pigs doesn’t get you in? or, have females in positions of authority like teachers, doctors, etc.. won’t get you in? or, having a dog? or, eating shellfish? or, eating beef? or, charging interest? or, not believing the red sea parting, turning water into wine, walking on water, make the lame walk, the blind see, and god of war and peace? or, is the son the equal of father or lesser? or, that it is sinful to consume the following: caffeine, tobacco, booze, sugar, and salt? or, that cats, dogs, snakes, apples, strawberries, bananas, and peaches evil?
All too many of the self-professed Christians of my acquaintance clearly much prefer the Old Testament over the New Testament. If you think about it, that is really funny.
Religious mythology and fantasy survive in a tradition of humor; which is enlightening when there is, in America, such a concerted effort by hypocrisy to further political gains through polarization of beliefs and faiths.
Yet the Christian Bible in the first part it is salvation by “grace” not works and the second part it is salvation by works. So you can easily get confused.
>>>>When they threw me out of the seminary, they told me I wasn’t " communicating with grace". I tried to explain, that we’d been writing, and calling each other for months.
Yea. This typifies Wiley’s lack of understanding on the topic. The point is that we don’t want to follow God’s moral code. Wiley shows this all the time in vilifying anyone who disagrees with him. How is his constant mockery “loving one’s neighbor as himself?” How does he KNOW that he’s right and that all others are wrong? Isn’t that self righteousness?
What??!! We actually have to practice our religion? I though we just had to believe! It’s a lot simpler that way: we believe and are saved and everyone else goes to hell.
If anyone reads the bible, they become a christian. If anyone reads the bible with understanding, they become an atheist.Seriously, you want me to worship a god or son of god who tells me if I don’t follow him, I will go to hell. Then tells me I can’t follow him unless I hate my Mother, as well as my family.
Luke 14:26. KJV is an exact translation from the original Greek.
Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, Eph 2:9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Pascal’s Wager – if an atheist is right, his best case is he pops like a bubble when he dies, but if he’s wrong, he has chosen Hell. If a Christian is right, he goes to Heaven, but if he’s wrong, he pops like a bubble and won’t even know it. It’s much more serious than a game, but analogies can’t be prefect. Place your bets…
Or the Christian has spent his whole life praying to the wrong god (of about 5,000 worshiped by humanity), making the right one madder and madder. He’s foregone many of the things and people he wanted in his life, and cast away relationships that could have brought him love, and goes to Hell anyway.
(1) G C GI’d have no complaint if Brother Christian would just stay A D-D7In his own church, or his own house, to worship his own way; G C GBut out into the marketplace he feels obliged to go D GDespising everything in sight and telling people so..(Chorus) C GAnd he’s just another bully, when he pushes folks around; C A D-D7He’s a bigger, badder bully—I don’t want him in my town! G C GI don’t care what his reasons are for stomping you and me; D GBut by his works I know him—and this is tyranny..(2)Now I’d not grumble much if Brother Christian just complainedAnd whined and nagged in public, though my patience would be strained; But up into the City Hall he feels obliged to stray,Demanding bans on everything that doesn’t go his way. .(Cho).(3)I’d not raise my hand if Brother Christian would just bitchFor laws to censor everything that makes a body itch; But on the Congress floor he feels obliged to take a stand:To make his tastes and morals the one law of the land. .(Cho).(4)I’m tired of Brother Christian’s tricks, and all his bigotry.I’m tired of tight-ass morals that he tries to put on me;I’m tired of politician fools who follow where he runs;He wants to make a Christian world. Forget it—get the guns!. (Cho).
What if everybody is wrong about everything and they are actually just ordinary mortal beings without any special intelligence from a super-human source?Well… except for me, of course…
Not seeing any of my previous posts, so gonna try again. If they suddenly appear, sorry for all the added posts to this thread.--As for this strip, I’m thinking the couple talking know they are getting in, as those are pets that passed before them….

I once heard someone say “There are 5 major religions, 4 of them must be wrong.” I think it´s all 5.

If the preacher preaches hate then that are the morals people follow. Westboro Baptists for example, sadistic parodies of human beings.

Yes, a place that does practice morals there, because it’s not being practiced anymore here.

Fortunately for most of us, God’s grace doesn’t work that way.
