Finally getting more interesting. it is up to Luann to clearly express her feelings or muddle on in passive-aggressive land.

How could Quill be so dense? Is this the first time he has ever been in a relationship?

I guess the family Pow Wow was not where Luann wanted to air her concerns. I’m surprised Nancy didn’t bring it up.

FINALLY! Someone asks Luann to get it out in the open. She’s only been fuming about it since she heard about Prudence in the first place. And Quill is the right one to ask it. If they don’t communicate about stuff like this, there’s no hope for them as a couple.

Many times Luann is ridiculous, but seriously? He spends every moment he can with Prudence. He skipped the family christmas. Yes, to help clean up but there is a serious lack of judgement going on. If you are in a relationship you have to make time to participate in it. If Quill is in a relationship with Luann maybe he ought to call Luann to say goodnight rather than Prudence. At this point, it really isn’t so much “Prudence” as Quill is disengaged from their relationship. Yes, career is important. Yes, friends are important. However, so are your relationships.

Jealousy never keeps a person around, male or female, all it does is drive a person away. With Luann it is always all about herself.

You know we could have come to this point right after the bedtime phone call between Pru and Quill. Perhaps Quill really wants the theater to be foremost in his life right now. Let him go, Luann. If he comes back, let him go again because nobody really loves him.

A little irony in panel 3 as our touchy heroine (or, at least, protagonist) asks rhetorically “Why?” as she takes out her anger by over-stapling the letter Y at the end of HAPPY…..So, are Luann and Quill at the end of happy?

I don’t like how Quill is annoyed at Luann for being upset “about something”. If he is truly clueless, he should have a different expression on his face and CARE how she is feeling. Of course, he is now going to deny any interest in Pru, but….this discussion may actually put Pru on his radar where before, she wasn’t.

The plot thickens. Teen love, a roller coaster.

“Family Decision???” Tell Me, was it a UNANIMOUS “Family Decision,” Luzy? Or was it another case of Your Dad’s GREED, coupled with the Family’s DEVOUT, Unbelievable GULLIBILITY that “Tipped the Vote??”

Q-Ball, if I were YOU, I’d quit asking OBVIOUS Questions and BEAT a HASTY Retreat.

I really don’t find Pru all that attractive. Looks more like someones mother, and her eyes creep me out.

Quill needs to make Luann a priority. Right now, Luann is not a priority in Quill’s life and Luann knows it. Of course this upsets her, Clear communication is essential in a relationship and Luann is not being clear.

They will never be able to pry that “Y” off the wall.

At least the confrontation is coming quicker than I imagined. Hopefully to ring in the New Year with Luann and Quill happy together.

Qu, this is why you like Lu— she’s transparent and doesn’t even pretend to be perfect. Pru, on the other hand…

Let me tell you; he’s not the only guy who can’t read his woman’s mind.

It would help if she told him but she expects him to know—or at least guess.

Upgrades don’t always mean “repairs/signs of age”. Upgrades can also mean “bringing in more functionality”. – For example: You can buy a new vehicle, with brand new everything, but decide that you’d like to now install a DVD player. Or you’d like to get a different set of rims or tires. Or you’d like to further customize the engine, with one that wasn’t factory stock, or even swap out the parts for all chrome ones. All of that would be an “upgrade”, even though the car (and its parts) are still new.

Well, it is finally coming to a head! Luann needs to unload so Quill can understand since he hasn’t figured her attitude out yet. Although, he should have as she has gone thru this before with Tif. Enjoy your day!

Quill was either super naive or super hopeful in the first frame. A painful conversation coming up – or else another arc…

Yeah, I sure do remember the discussion about career versus the rest of your life. It keeps ringing home loud and clear for me. All year in 2015, I was having tests to find out why I was drastically losing weight and nothing I ate was staying with me long enough to absorb nutrients; thought it was a recurrence of the digestive disorder I inherited from my late father (who died of it at age 40), but tests showed dangerous blood indicators of either pancreatic cancer or pancreatitis. (Still no real answer)

At times like that, you really take a hard look at all the time you’ve spent on a career, and not having relationships.

Then, my little bro (he’s 60) landed in the hospital the week before Christmas for exploratory surgery that turned up a tumor. By great good fortune, it was benign (because location made it impossible to do standard radiation).

Even though little bro’s career has been good, never neglected the rest of his life. As he recovers from surgery, all his kids and his first grandchild are visiting him.

If I land in a hospital as a result of what’s going on with me, I doubt my coworkers will be helping me recover. Twice I almost married, but I was married to my job.

Luann needs to find someone who can understand the need to balance things. Quill doesn’t get that.

Just another clueless guy.

The fact that he doesn’t even know shows he’s innocent. So now she will self-fulfill her prophesy. Doen’t excuse him for failing to get why she’d be horrified at this point, yes clueless.

The real villains here are Luann’s parents for being insensitive to her needs.

Quill is such a nice, decent guy. He deserves someone nicer than Luann. She is passive-aggressive, and unpleasant to Quill when he does spend time with her. He hasn’t done anything wrong and he really has no idea why she is upset. I don’t know what he sees in Luann anymore.

“If you’re happy, Luann, I’m happy. That’s what I get, your happiness.”

Quill is spending time with Luann right now. They probably spent time together working at the Fuse. If she has something to say, she should say it. Don’t make the poor guy read her mind. That never works.

Is Quill really that slow? Is Luann that stupid to play coy?

If he’s really this clueless, she’d do well to just dump him now. It will save her years of grief…

I don’t see Luann ever overcoming her jealousy/insecurity, even as an adult. It would take some very serious introspection and attitude-shifting for her to do so.

“I’m not even sure why Quill is dating Luann in the first place.”If you don’t recall, when he first arrived in town, he found Luann the most appealing girl there. Tiffany was chasing him but he clearly rejected her in favor of Luann. He was not yet into theatre.

That’s funny! It’s always Karen’s fault to some people.

Now is the time to speak up and say what’s on your mind Luann. Quill is clueless.

Hopefully we will now get beyond the “failure to communicate” and have this resolved one way or the other.

Time for Quill to put on a leather vest, a raggedy cowboy hat, grab a 13 inch hunting knife and go kill a croc!

Either that, or time to tell Luan that pru is not straight.

Luann has never been very respectful of other people’s walls.

Quill is looking right at Luann, but Luann is avoiding eye contact. It seems that Gunther has the same problem of not having eye contact when he’s with people, not always, but it is frequently noticeable.

Anyone who uses that many staples from a staple gun has some anger issues.

After I read 20 or 30 of these comments, I got tired of seeing people blaming Quill and Luann’s parents for not being sensitive to her feelings, but not seeing very many people at all thinking that Luann’s silence might be the problem.

She’s had plenty of opportunities to tell people how she feels about the different aspects of the whole “Prudence” situation, but instead she keeps it all bottled up inside her. So how is it everyone else’s fault for not knowing what’s in her head? Hopefully, she learns from this situation how important it is to actually talk about your feelings to people who care about you.

She is just exhibiting classic teenage behaviour. And not even just teenage GIRL behaviour. It’s natural for people to resist talking about what’s bugging them. It makes them vulnerable, and no one likes feeling vulnerable. She’s afraid that Quill will tell her that she’s right, that her concerns are valid. But at the moment, everything is in her head.

Meanwhile, everyone else is just exhibiting classic human behaviour, not catching any of the little clues that are so obvious to all of us. The little clues are only obvious to us because they happen to be featured in the comic. If this were real life, and we were really there, most of us would also be completely oblivious to anything that might or might not be wrong. People in general have a remarkable capacity for being clueless.

The fact that it’s Quill who has recognized that there’s something wrong is a great indicator that he really does care about Luann.

Ahhh…. I miss Quackers and his miss-aligned debauchery.

I applaud Luann for restraining her former clingy self. The ball is in Quill’s court now and he hasn’t answered her question. Funny how Quill seems to know everything about this arrangement. It would be interesting if Luann took all of this as an opportunity to re-focus herself (concentrate on her own art, e.g.drawing and painting, college, teaching kids) maybe even to the point of eventually moving out.She’s 18 and while she can live at home, Frank and Nancy aren’t obligated to make everything conducive to her needs.

C’mon Luann – take a hint from Knute, and staple with enthusiasm!

Quill is learning the hard way about American women. And I don’t think that he likes it.

Wait a minute, if you read closely Luann asked Quill a question first .I.e. ’…what will you get out of this arrangement?…", and he dodged it.. Quill is also avoiding the fact that Pru is largely his friend and “pal” by making it seem as if she will be everyone’s pal especially Luann’s.

If I’m Quill, I would tell Luann that we are better off as friends since you cant trust me.

It would take balls for Quill to kiss Prudence on New Years in front of Luann and her parents. That would be gangsta.

These two people don’t talk to each other and really have little in common. They should decide to go their separate ways early in 2016.

Our boy Quill needs to be enlightened so he might recognize when a woman is putting the moves on him……he always seemed to get it with Tiffany….with Pru…not so much.

Quill couldn’t fathom in his mind that Luann is insanely jealous of Pru. I hope there won’t be any cat fight scenes over the horizon for Luann and Pru…just saying..

Is this when we find out Pru is lesbian, was never interested in Quill….and Luanne realizes she was being a silly little crybaby and freaking out for nothing???
