/The one who’s never been to this restaurant, before… the one with the “Garkon”, The “Mater D.J.”, and the “Val-it”. /And you keep muttering to yourself how you hope that they don’t see the Steak and Lobster Bisque on the menu…

I haven’t read the Cathy comic in years and suddenly there is the sales clerk from the Cathy comic. Wonder who else we’ll see. Working Daze has also featured guests the last few days including Dr. McCoy attending the birth of a baby girl to Kathy and Roy. Anyway, Luann should pull back and lighten up a bit. It’s Toni’s wedding, not hers.

If Luann is out of line, the person who should call her out is Toni. Not Nancy. and definitely not the sales clerk.

Hmm.. a cameo. It certainly seems to put the Ack!! in Acknowledgement…

I also notice that this is the second time that Toni has had to raise her hand, this week…

At least this isn’t Gasoline Alley, where the sales clerk would be Frank Nelson.

Hey Luann i just exuberant and romantic. Toni will come to love that spirit if she already has not. Generally she could not be a beter family.

Now I haven’t read a Cathy comic in years but I am sure that’s the saleswoman. Mistake me if I’m wrong.

I was about to say the clerk looks like someone straight out of the “Cathy” strip, but you guys were already on it. Haven’t read it in years (too much dialogue), but the shape and look are Cathy Guisewaitesque all the way.I think Luann needs to quit projecting (or at least Nancy needs to tell her to zip it). Too self-indulgent, even for Luann.

If Luann could get even 10% as excited about schoolwork as she does about someone else’s wedding, then maybe she wouldn’t be stuck taking art at Pitt CC under Prof. Zebo.

It’s definitely some kind of comics crossover week. A few days ago, Hi from Hi and Lois made a ‘Dagwood’ sandwich, and when Lois asked if he was going to eat the whole thing, he said she sounded like Blondie.

Yesterday, the Roadrunner delivered pizza to Nancy and Sluggo…

Cathy I can see right away, but in the last panel she also looks like Charlie Brown in a wig.

Also, as they say, you can take Luann anywhere but OUT.

I thought Luann had decided to become a teacher.

Anyhow, Gregg pretty much nailed the “Cathy” saleswoman. Nice touch!

And yes, it is time for Luann to dial it back a bit – and for Nancy to remind her that this is not her show.

should we all begin to worry about when (if) Luann ever gets married?? It could turn into a side show if this is any indication. Like sister…like brother..??

All I can say is, if Toni keeps this up she’ll never make it on “Bridezillas”.

Luann needs some parenting. As for the sales clerk, “Cathy” was the first thing I thought of when I saw her! I see I am not in alone. :D

I know the police do, but if firefighters have a dress, or semi-formal uniform, Toni could avoid this chaos and simply wear her uniform. So could Brad for that matter.

At least Toni don’t wave her arms about and sweat bullets like Cathy.

@JPuzzleWhizTo answer your question, I don’t know. I’ll still try the polls, but the formatting is going to be all wrong. The best thing would be for people that like the polls to visit the site every M-W-F to check the interviews (I have enough material for next 3 weeks), and look at for the poll question at the end of the interview.

Cont. Otherwise, i only know of unverified cases of successful cartoonists kids going into education. It strikes me that successful cartoonists have to be great communicators and i could imagine a child raised w that being attracted to fields w communication needs like education

Heads up. There were more of the toons i follow in the mailed collection today than in my website compilation. I am wondering two things. Firstly, if GoComics might have suffered a bot attack yesterday rather than the restrictions being due to troll complaints, and secondly how many functions lost as of last night might return after repairs

‘Bridal Barn’ doesn’t really conjure up attractive images for me.

There’s no reason to assume that the spamming problem occurred here in the Luann discussions. As far as I can tell, the ban on HTML links and images applies to all the comics here on GoComics.com. The problem could have originated in any of 100 other comic strips’ discussions.

Had a cartoon dream last night. My skull opened w a zipper and a cartoon brain emerged on a folding lift with flying books that sounded like a pigeon flock lifting off, a coo-coo clock, and a toy 19th century woman on horse toy going fast but staying put (Red Qeen Hypothesis, go as fast as you can to stay in the same place?). Anyway, funny!

Spell function back at GoComics, so they have that repair done.

Interesting, the new “rules against spammers” has seemed to also:1. Eliminate the ability to insert blank lines between sentences and/or paragraphs and 2. Prevents bracketing of information. To my manner of thinking this is going to become rather stressful and makes it more difficult to communicate. I hope that GoComics reconsiders this move and perhaps AT LEAST allows some additional editing tools. I do indeed miss the old style from just two days ago.

Pipe, you came up against the character limit. It does not show that when typing, but about seven lines seems to be current limit. It is something i hope changes, if, as i suspect, the current difficulties are due to bot attack damage. Again, check mailed collections since this morning that was more complete than online one.

I like the new length limit. Of course, I have the attention span of a housefly.

They are not planning or fixing things. Received email from GoComics on my complaint. Too many characters to repost but gist is:

A. Comments are now limited to 500 characters

B. Captcha has been added to comment “Submit” process to reduce fake posts from bots

C. Images are no longer allowed in the body of comments

D. Comment art is now restricted to the use of bold and italic font characters

Soooo — we not only see Toni not liking the ceremony, but I’m wondering when she announces that the whole concept of marriage is distasteful to her… before or after the ceremony?

I may be wrong (that has happened before), but I think the real reason they are doing this is data storage space. This also coincides with last week’s disappearance of millions of earlier posts by thousands of commenters. A couple of examples would be Night Gaunt. Prior to Aug. 23, he had over 190,000 posts. Now, he is down to 3,533. Prior to that date, I had over 21,000 posts, and now it is down to 326.

How hypocritical. No images allowed on a site whose product is images. Makes it impossible to reference past strips or add humor to posts. Complain heavily about these changes!

By limiting characters, forbidding images, etc. and going with Capcha they no longer need to have a human moderate anything. The moderators probably received pink slips.

How many people thought this was going to happen?

How many people think this wedding is going to happen or that Lu is going to be in it?

changes caused me to begin looking into financials of parent company, Uclick and its parent, Andrews McMeel Universal if any of our retirement’s brokerage investments include them. Chges seem poor considered, similar to companies having layoffs for quarterly profit but not considering later quarters. GoComics would not want that as a topic. Others can look if they have cause. I need to see if we even have some retirement money in it, and alternatives if so.

If you think the protesting of GoComic’s new policies is thick here, you ain’t seen nothing. I have taken a little time to look through a number of different strips and the comments regarding the new “regime” here are dominating the boards. Some of the comments are rather nasty, and many are cancelling their “PRO” membership. Just an honest observation…

Remember all those “say yes to the dress shows” It was exactly like this. The friends, parents, etc. all try to take over and override what the bride wants. This is what this is like. Eventually Toni will get what she wants but it takes a while to get through to everyone else. Always made me wonder why the bride brings all these people who are going to shout down anything she likes or even worse, say hurtful things about how she looks in the dress.

Thank goodness Alley Oop’s thumb went back to normal. I was really worried.

Well we certainly get enough spam from them already with all of their pop ups and surveys.

This change in the comments sections seems such an ill conceived idea. I wonder what the “real” reason is? Speculation of bot attacks, spamming, too much space being required all make sense…. but from a monetary perspective…. which one of the above (or other unmentioned reason) costs the GoComics folks the most money? I suspect that may be the answer.

The unfortunate thing is that…. the change in the comments section will destroy our sense of community. All comics will be affected…. but if any of you read Frog Applause, I think it will be utterly decimated. Coming to GoComics was an “event” sort of destination for me that I looked forward to daily and willingly paid PRO for. Now, it can and will become an empty shell of its former community and it makes me sad.

It’s a good thing Luann isn’t attached to anyone, or she might be walking down the aisle with him. Of course, if Pru has her way with Luann, she could be the one.

It is sad that the new GoComics rules have basically turned us into a new form of “Twitterers”. Very sad.

I’m not into dress design, but I kinda’ wish Greg would hold a contest for hair design. There are more helmets in this strip than on the New York Jets.

One of my favorite things was rewriting Andy Capp, as the present writers are absolutely AWFUL, If I can’t draw and post drawings, 50% of my enjoyment is gone!

And if all this is not enough, in “Gasoline Alley”, Joel broke his jug. Almost a scene right out of “Silas Marner, The Weaver of Raveloe” (Chapter 2)

It is indeed the ubiquitous saleslady from “Cathy”, and I suspect that the red-haired woman a few days ago (red hair, round glasses) was an older version of Margaret from “Dennis the Menace”.

Since just about anyone can use a free AdBlocker extension, there is little reason to pay to be a “Pro” on a board where only the most basic and short commenting is possible. A number of commenters on other comics have said they will not renew “Pro” status. If enough do so, GoComics will take notice and may ameliorate its harsh tactic….

Ack! Stifle yourself, Luann!

I haven’t seen Capcha yet, but when I do, I will no longer be able to post. With macular degeneration, it is difficult for me to use Capcha.

It’s something I was making reference to, before, in those who kept complaining about “how and what” anyone should comment on. They acted as if it should be the “Sunday Morning Times”, where you just go: “This comic is red today. That comic is blue. The end.”

The irony is, they are probably among the ones missing it most… now, they’ll have nothing to complain about. Now what will they do?

Novel length comments usually aren’t worth the time needed to read them..Make your point, then hit submit. If you want more space, do what Night-Gaunt does and submit 10 straight short entries, it is more likely people will read them.

I am catching up, having not read this comic for about 10 days, and the very first thing I notice on this one is Cathy’s saleslady. It’s funny seeing her here looking so not like the other characters.

Well, if Toni has no idea what she wants or how to exactly go about it, Luann is the perfect person to get her started.
