Yesterday, Posie crashed into Mysta. Today, the first panel makes it look like the opposite happened. So I guess we can’t really know for sure whether Posie intended to crash her or not. I still tend to think it was deliberate.
Evidently Posie found in prison what happened to his beloved Mindy. Wonder what will happen when he figures she literally no longer exists (providing he doesn’t have a heart attack from getting zapped by Mysta).
As much as Posie might like her to, Mysta is decidedly not going to “snap out of this” nor does she want to, even if she could. I’m sure he is disappointed that he won’t be getting his daughter back.
Seeing Posie grab Mysta’s arm rings a bell about Posie and Mindy’s original 1968 story.
In the earlier tale, Mindy intended to run down to the street to retrieve Posie’s hat which had fallen out the window. Before she could leave, Posie grabbed Mindy’s arm and jerked on it violently, loudly forbidding her to go. (This happened over two days, 9-9-68 and 9-10-68.)
In the first story, Mindy meekly complied to Posie’s demands. In today’s story, Mysta not only resists Posie, but she forces him to meekly comply to her greater power. A very interesting contrast!
Not only this, but in both incidents, an accidental collision between Posie and Mindy preceded Posie grabbing her arm. In the first story, Mindy was knocked backward by Tracy, causing the perfume bottle she was holding to explode in Posie’s face.
I’m not totally sure if the connection between the two stories is intentional, but it sure seems to be. Comparing the two events, we discover that Posie is still the same domineering father who is willing to use physical violence to dominate his daughter and bring her to heel. And it reveals that Mysta is not the same homely girl she was before, but rather a powerful and beautiful young woman who will no longer be pushed around and controlled by her brutish father.
I realize Posie is Mysta’s father, but putting her life in danger by crashing his car into hers is not the action of a caring parent. Pushing his way out of the car to commit assault and battery against her and refusing her repeated requests to let go is also indicative of a violent man who doesn’t deserve my sympathy. Good for Mysta that she can take care of herself. It’s always fun seeing her in action.
Look, Posie – you"re going about this all wrong. Kidnapping is illegal, can (in this case) get you zapped and is somewhat passe. Do what most people do nowadays; get a lawyer and sue Diet Smith.
Always a pleasure to see Mysta. Her first instinct was to help the reckless motorist, her next was to assure she was not manhandled by a lout. What a creep. Posie didn’t develop any patience while doing his stretch up north. Let this be a lesson to him. Keep your hands to yourself. Show some restraint.

The second time Posie lost his cigarette. That’s a good sign that he should quit smoking. :) So the last panel of Friday’s strip shows the cigarette just left his mouth, and will fall due to gravity. Posie is next seen without the cigarette in the right panel of row 2, where he first grabs Mysta’s arm with his right hand. In the next panel, he has “the magic cigarette” in his mouth again, while still holding her arm – meaning he had to use his left hand to put the cig back in.
Now, note that in the last panel we finally see Posie without his hat, revealing he does not have Lunarian horns, as initially suspected by some of us.
legit question: why do they have Mysta dressing like a ho/stripper? Seriously…I am NO PRUDE (in fact I LOVE strip clubs), but I think it’s a bit odd that she apparently walks around in her panties and dominatrix/stripper-style thigh high boots. Anyone know why they decided to have her dress like a stripper?
He certainly deserved the zap. I dread the day I need to use my CnC but I won’t allow anyone to make me a victim either. He’s getting off easy I believe.
What did I say?? What did I say?? Maybe Mysta’s origin is what was say…..but what Posie believes is a different matter. And he believes that Mysta is his daughter!!!!
In the collision as seen previously, Posie hit Mysta’s right front fender with the left front of his car. Today, the direction of the impact is far less clear, though not necessarily different; maybe one or both vehicles fish-tailed a bit due to the crash.Meanwhile, Pequod’sSunday Morning Delight states the present circumstances clearly, while 60sFan’s explication ably fills in the background.
Mysta has acted uprightly and properly to this point: but what does she do next, particularly with regard to the zapped Ermine?
I remember reading the Posie story originally. I haven’t seen it in a while but I seem to remember Posie having a wife who was also involved in the illegal business they had at the time. No mention of her. I also had a thought that I wonder if Diet Smith ever notified Mindy’s family to let them know what happened to their daughter? and what he was doing to help her? Of course Mysta is a adult and made the choice to remain as she is. Posie has no legal claim on her.

Mysta takes a pleasant drive to pick up magazines
Whistles on her journey and peruses roadside scenes.
Who should interrupt her peace, but a man she does not know
His daughter killed by Dr. Sail. In her place does Mysta grow
Into a model citizen. Lunarian DNA
Works more changes even now. On Mysta it holds sway.
Posie spies the stranger, swiftly blindsides her with force
Thinks he’s found lost Mindy, much to Mysta’s shock, of course.
Posie lacking class or grace, grabs Mysta by the arm
Thuggish, brutish and a heel, no sorrow for the harm
He renders unto others, this vile preening clown
Tries a little rough stuff with a woman of renown.
Mysta quickly warns the fool he must remove his hand
Before she zaps him with a jolt so juiced he cannot stand.

Morning, fellow Mysta watchers!
A few days Ago, I jokingly asked if they were going to crash, and if Mysta might zap him ‘extra crispy.’
She made his hair stand on end, and even exploded his cigarette!
So much fun to see her in action!

Can’t say he wasn’t warned. Now Posie is having an electrifying experience he wasn’t expecting….

Mysta shows concern for the man who rammed her car, while he acts like a brute toward her. She’s definitely not Daddy’s little girl anymore.

Stupid criminal lays his hands on Mysta. Bad idea. He got a lot more than he bargained for, but he can’t say Mysta didn’t warn him.

I guess the poor cigarette tried to get away in panel three by jumping into Posie’s pocket! LOL!

Why would Mysta need a jacket if she loves the cold? Just asking.
avenger09 about 8 years ago
Two cars, colliding on the street
Would have been safer to travel with both feet
A father so desperately needing to meet
The daughter he loved with his every heartbeat
His child, lost in a sea of memories not real
Innocently believing she truly is the real deal
No way for her to understand what he feels
His desire for his daughter Mindy to return safe and healed.
