yeah things definitely went red pill on the story but that’s ok there is almost endless possibilities to where the story can go now.
Honestly when this whole story started I wasn’t feeling to good about Holly, i was thinking they were going to find her in BAD shape. Of course that still may be the case have to see what the truth is and what is illusion
Is it just me or is the ship going down by the bow in that last panel? Makes me think the ship was previously crashed and the AI damaged, causing it to go bonkers…
Panel 3 makes me suspect that Wally, Kirbee, Chic and Irving might have had real food. I suspect that the simulation of Ernie’s Diner might have involved our crew sitting at a real table and eating real food (prepared by an automated kitchen) while surrounded by a ditto illusion of the diner from Holly’s past. It kind of makes me think of some of the elaborate setups from “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”, the Ink and Paint Club anyone?
I love this strip, thank you, Aaron. But I’m about to go nuclear with those freaking ads that take over the page and try to give me a free app in the Apple App Store. I just reloaded this page over a dozen times before I was finally able to get the rest of the comments to load and stay up long enough to read them, and to add my own. I don’t play game apps, I don’t appreciate 12+ reloads just to enjoy a comic, I really, REALLY, dislike ads that take my iPad on a tip to multiple page land, and I detest ads that open other apps without my permission. Phew… Had to vent.
I’m hoping that Holly has worked her way back to the Holly we know and love. I don’t care where they go as long as they all go together…. in a good way, of course.
I’d like to see Holly work her way toward dealing with her issues. I think the Holly we knew and loved came from her keeping busy enough to not think about the things she saw and did. That’s why she snapped in that cell during the Milk Trial. She just had too much time alone with her thoughts and nobody she could talk to. It would be nice if she could talk with Wally and Kirbee about what she saw.
Since Wally is known to be able to control the dittos, I’m not in any doubt that they’ve actually escaped. Now the question is, do they simply leave or does Wally decide to take command of all of the ship’s dittos thus leaving it powerless? Or does he decide to find the ship’s bridge and enter it, thus becoming the captain and acquiring a useful form of transport (which can even hide itself using the dittos)?
Did anyone notice the ship’s name as they were fleeing from the hold? Fitzgerald, as in The Edmond Fitzgerald, the freighter that went down in Lake Erie in the early seventies. Maybe the gang’s in Cleveland.
Hey, all.. Finished Friday’s strip and uploaded it just before heading to the ER. Talk about deadlines.. I’m still hospitalized with leg infection #14 but I’m off the IV and back on oral antibiotics. Fingers crossed that I’ll be released within the next two days. Unfortunately, Endtown will have to be on hiatus until probably the second week of November (maybe sooner, depending). Thanks to everyone for their prayers and good vibes. Don’t worry, this ride isn’t nearly over!
Really want to get rid of those annoying ads? Don’t be cheap. Buy a GoComics subscription and let cartoonists like Aaron get the money they’ve worked for.
I don’t comment here as often as others, but I want you to know how much I appreciate you and your comic strip. Here’s wishing you a speedy recovery. Get well soon!
Sometimes storytellers need a break. And what a good one to stop on. Mr. Neathery, take your time. Don’t push yourself too soon. Get better and come back as you’re able.
Hope you’re on the road to recovery, Aaron. Don’t know if you’ve tried a reputable naturopath; sometimes a persistant problem with the immune system needs a whole body approach.Wishing you the best.
@Aaron NeatheryI do not often comment, but wanted to add another voice sending very good thoughts your way. Endtown is fabulous, which makes it worth waiting as long as necessary for the next new twists.
The way the first panel is drawn indicates that either the Fitzgerald interior or whole ship is an illusion, or the escape is an illusion. We see Wally “breaking through” the floor, but the floor is intact. The dittos are feral, so I’m guessing the ship is a ditto trap like Sparkplug’s area of Hillside. Instead of controlling the dittos, the AI was controlled by them.
I don’t have an issue with advertising, unless it’s pornagraphic, but I do have real issues with ads that trap you. It loads by itself, jumps through several pages, without letting you return to the original page, opens another app without permission, erases your saved links until you close and open your browser, refuses to release your browser, and does this every time you open a gocomcs link.
That said, it looks like gocomcs got the message and eliminated the out of control ad. It hasn’t occurred for at least two days so far.
You gotta love the Internet, where anonymous people can call you names simply because they can.
Oh, and I will never download that game app that the ad led to. Great way to kill your own product. Way to go game developer, hope that you learn something from this.
Just because Endtown is on hiatus while Aaron gets well is no reason to forget to vote for Endtown on gocomics. It’s just another way to show Aaron we care. Get well soon Aaron and thanks for bringing Endtown to a good pausing place.
Another BIG wish for your recovery – I won’t say speedy because I am sure you will probably be back at work as hard and as soon as you can (and probably sooner than you should!). Just take it easy and we will be here for you. :o)
I don’t post often, Aaron, but I wanted to send you my heartfelt wishes for a speedy – and full – recovery. 14 relapses is far too many! Please take care of yourself – you are important! :)
Aaron. I think you should focus on healing fully before you get back to the strip. id rather have to wait a month or two then wait for a month every two months. also, to others that dont know what happened Aaron has been hospitalized and im guessing is going through recovery and physical therapy and as such is unable to update the strip.
It’s very sad that Aaron is going to lose his health insurance because of this last election. It will probably be the end of Endtown, unless he can get Patreon up to at least double what it is, now. With his “pre-existing conditions” insurance is going to be hellaciously expensive, once Obamacare is repealed.
@Olongapojoe If he can pull that off, more power to him. I’ll be impressed. At the moment, however, it looks like someone driving a bus full tilt towards the edge of the Grand Canyon, and a bunch of people saying “No, wait, give him a chance—he promised he can make it across.”
Regarding Trump vs Clinton, it’s like both of the major political parties got together and decided to put forward the least suitable candidates they could, just to prove that they could get away with it.
