What’s bothering Sam …?

Sam?

Yes, what’s seems to be the problem with Sam?

Where’s Selfy? Probably busy feeding Lena… with Vic.

Wondering if it’s family-related, Sam’s apparent malaise.

If Selfy weren’t so vain, he could dye his hair, and get it cut, maybe even try to grow a beard, just so he wouldn’t be recognized in the shots by those ever-present cameras.

Maybe Sam is sad that more attention wasn’t paid to the anniversary of JFK’s death.

… or to the near-simultaneous premiere of the BBC serial “DOCTOR WHO” – which turns 53 in 2016

It seems like Selfy’s hideout has worked so far.

As for Sam, we will have to wait to find out what’s bothering him, but I’m sure we’ll know soon.

Maybe Sam is having problems concerning his nicotine addiction…..

I went back through the strips…can’t see anything that would upset Sam, other than losing a car chase to Selfy. Maybe that sort of thing really bugs him.

Is it an anniversary of something in Sam’s past? If so, it can’t be recent enough to show on this archive.

Perhaps Sam tried the Great American Smoke Out?

What’s the deal with Sam? —I was afraid I was the only one who didn’t remember the big crisis he was/is facing. So, I’m relieved to see that it is in fact unknown (to us) what’s troubling him. Is this just a momentary diversion, or is this the first thread in a new sub-plot? How serious is Sam’s issue?

(Hint to Tracy: look at the zoo-cam footage!)

It was a real treat to see some of my favorite “lurkers” surface to comment on Mysta yesterday! Filed under “people I’d like to hear from more often” are 60sFan, Day-Day2001, T. R. Gunn, Marion, JerryH, fhofmann and more. I hope I’m not leaving any lurkers out. The point is, it was way back on August 1, 2012, when Mysta first appeared. There was much excitement and applause from our peanut gallery. The late, great Sydney Phillips noted that the reactions of fans could well determine what happens in the future. Sydney was onto something there. The reaction was overwhelmingly positive, and the saga of Mysta Reborn continues, much to my delight. Other “missing” voices were heard that day: coldsooner, Chief Patton, Tarry Plaguer (who linked us to the I Love Comix Archive), Fenrisulfr, GES Who, MystaMan and more. A landmark day in Tracyville! Having Mysta and Honeymoon become vital characters in Dick Tracy puts a shine on everything that happens. What great characters! And what a great time to be a Tracy fan.

Knowing Selfy, he’ll probably do something stupid like post a picture of himself at the zoo on social media and get caught as a result.

All the snarky comments about Sam’s smoking.. musta forgotten how its been MONTHS since Sam has been depicted with his cigarette. I’m thinking that something ‘terminal’ has befallen his missus, and since they are Jewish, by rights, there shouldn’t be a ‘funeral scene’ at all

I like the way there was no buildup to this, no hints. Things happen off-panel and we are not always privy to them.Sometimes there are setups that take months to pay off and sometimes there are no setups at all.

Actually, Sam is seen staring at the computer screen, very much in a stupor. He’s all down in the dumps because he’s following DT on GoComics and has gotten all frustrated because the thread has jumped around all over the map.

Maybe an issue with Marge’s health?

Maybe the onset of the holiday season has triggered some memory for Sam? Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day and Hanukkah starts in one month (the first full day falls on December 25 this year).

oh and by the way since I most likely wont be on here the rest of the week.. HAPPY EARLY THANKSGIVING TO ALL MY AMERICAN FRIENDS/POSTERS!!

From the Dick Tracy wikia: “In 2006, during the incident with Dr. Figment Froid’s mind reading device, Tracy was surprised to learn that he and Sam belong to different political parties.” Maybe…nah! :)

Or it could be he’s down because he just found out that Volume 21 of Dick Tracy won’t be available in local comics shops till January 18, 2017.

It’s interesting that Tracy doesn’t think that Selfy could have left town.

Could Sam’s problem be connected to Thanksgiving dinner?
