I’m pleasantly surprised that no one has said anything negative about today’s strip. (So far…). After all, we’ve seen Tiff in a bikini, so this is no more of a “big deal” than that…cool!

Boy Luann has gone a long way since she was the central character in grammar school. Actually it has been growing along with her in Luanniverse time (I added an i since noticed that the Evan’s spell Luanniverse with an i, either works but I will be agreeable). Anyway can we all agree that other than Jessica Rabbit in Roger Rabbit, Toni is the sexiest female drawing in comics? Man is Brad a lucky young man. So are we because we know her story, her problems, the fact she really, really loves Brad and why, and she is about as troll proof as can be.. I know, I know nothing on the net is troll proof, but she is as close as it gets IMO. Sexy, I can say that about Luann.

Drat! We’re running out of week. P.S. Ick! Lose the tat!

While I can readily see that a lot of folks here really do enjoy Greg’s portrayal of strip poker, and of course everyone has a right to his/her opinion…. my own opinion is different:

I personally do not like this portrayal of strip poker between Toni and Brad as part of “Luann” the comic strip. In my opinion, it is significantly far afield from Greg’s core story telling style. That it is so different may very well be what Greg is going after…. and if so, that is of course his right. I just happen to not like or enjoy it. To me, it is not an appropriate comic to run in actual newspapers. I am wondering if there will be any refusals from any newspapers? Perhaps, perhaps not.

Again, I am not a prude. I enjoy sex as much as the next guy. I just tend to feel that this level of sexual expression is better kept private between partners. While technically, Brad and Toni are indeed being private about this within their story arc… portraying this private moment in a public medium seems just a bit too much in my opinion. When I showed the comic to my wife this morning, she was surprised as well about the comic.

How many internet services do you need?

Creepy and boring at the same time. Quite a feat. Brad, don’t bother looking at those figures; there’s not much interesting to see.

There are well known ways of making naked without actually seeing anything some people find offensive…imagine the human body offensive to humans!

I guess we now know that Brad doesn’t have any hair on his chest.

I see that my hero, Irwin Corey, aka Professor Irwin Corey, the world’s foremost authority, has passed away at the age of 102. One crazy guy with his white lab coat, tennis shoes, wild hair, and a push around blackboard. Never could understand what he was saying. Would have fit in well with this group of commenters. RIP old guy.

Folks who don’t like this arc should realize that from a clothing point of view this is no different from pool-side scenes where we have seen Quill shirtless in swim trunks and Tiffany (and sometimes Luann) in bikinis. All we’re seeing now is a similarly clad Toni and Brad working on financial documents. They’re teasing each other (nothing wrong there… we’ve seen that..) but there’s no passionate engagement and I don’t think there will be… at least not for us to see. Greg is very good about leaving things to our imagination, which is good. There’s a part that we see and another part that we don’t but there’s no harm in implying the latter

Luannin a bikini? You’ll have to go back a long way to see Luann in anything other than a one piece bathing suit. I think the last time she wore one was in the story where she was dared to run to the corner mail box and back in her bikini, in the rain, and ran into Aaron Hill. Ah, good time… good time…

I would think Brad has seen Toni quite a few times over the years wearing just a bra, or less.

Woohoo. Its now a REAL comic strip. Getting hotter by the day. I"m sure every guy would love to check Toni’s figures.

I think Greg and Karen want to have some arcs depicting married life (at home) for Toni and Brad, like they have for Nancy and Frank. Obviously the two scenes will be different. We have seen Frank and Nancy in bed together many times… not doing anything except discussing issues, maybe joking or making suggestive remarks. Now enter a new young married couple.. Frank and Nancy’s oldest child. I think Greg want to have comparable home-life scenes for Toni and Brad but tastefully done. I think this arc is really cute and funny.

Remember, Brad commented that Toni had on one more piece of clothing than he did.

Even though I sometimes disagree with PipeTobacco, (Professor Party Pooper), I’m glad that he triggered the information about Sukie from Schrodinger’sdog. I did not know that and hope she can get back, soon. She is always civil and polite with her comments and I wish her well. I’ve seen phones that print out what is being said for the hearing impaired, they must have computers or smart phones that would speak what someone is writing for the visually impaired.

Okay, I’m calling it now: tomorrow’s strip will be simply a closed bedroom door with a “Do Not Disturb” sign. (Obviously, with TJ gone, the sign would be unnecessary, but it cements the joke.)

Sure, Toni. Hand those blasted big sheets of paper over to Bradley, and we’ll all do some figure-checking!

EVERYBODY who commented prior to me missed the most important point! A good daily strip stands on its own every day. If I happened to read the strip today without seeing any others in the “series” it would simply be puzzling—no independent cause for humor whatsoever. “Why are these 2 people dressed as they are?” The strip poker idea can’t be deduced because there is simply no basis to think that’s the real reason for the clothing—or lack thereof. Check out all other dailies that are not serial, and you’ll see tons of confirmation for this—THE truly most important thing (flaw that it is) about this particular strip.
