Once a month doesn’t sound too bad to me. Gunter and Leslie will be seeing each other every 30 days or so. (Will next time be at Al/Leslie’s home?)

Peru is starting to look good to Gunther, again.

The rate this may be going the dinner dates between Mr. Gray and Mrs. Berger may be daily!!

Nice to see them team up in the second panel. Now, Gunthie’s mom is going to give them a chance to team up every month!

Mrs. B might not be so oblivious to the situation if she opened her eyes a little more frequently. Then she might be able to see the joy in their faces.

My guess is that both Gunther and Les define ‘fun’ very differently from you, Mrs. B…

Gunther’s Mom (what IS her name??) is SO clueless. Maybe it’s for the best.

Uncle Gray and Mom are clueless. These young men do not like one another. We’re all not comparable.

Suck it up Gunther and act like an adult. Your mom has been alone for a long time. Stop thinking about yourself. Let her be happy. The moment you can’t be flexible enough to help your mom be happy and you can’t stand the way she lives her life is the exact moment you need to move on and give the space she needs to live her life.

why does she keep calling him “Mr. Gray”?

Giving the “C” team a little ink. But I have to admire how the Evans’ can come up with material week after week. I never could do that.

Plus – we’re getting married!

Ma Berger is kind of adorable. I have a crush on her.

Good Grief, You Guys. With Gunther’s VAST Intellect and Leslie’s Uncompromising RUTHLESSNESS, You Two should be able to BREAK these two ANNOYING “Love Monkeys” Up in about Six Months to a Year, ‘Our’ Time.

Unless of course, You Guys Want to be ‘Brothers.’

I Didn’t Think So…….,

Wonder when they will start being on first name basis.

I admit, after seeing yesterday’s strip, I was almost scared to death that Gunth and Les were about to enter a “meeting of the minds” of some sort. That might still happen, but seems less likely with today’s strip. Thank goodness! I much prefer them better as enemies than “frienemies.”

I don’t know where Greg is going with this plot line, but if Gunth and Les get any closer, I think I’m gonna lose my breakfast, lunch & dinner for quite some time…. :(

Wouldn’t they and “Mr. Gray” be on a first-name basis by now? And, inasmuch as the “boys” are over 18, they would be under no obligation to attend such a miserable gathering! Grow a pair, Gunthie!!!!

It looks like Mr. Gray and Ms. Berger have made a long term commitment to each other if they are planning events months in advance.

Fortunately they are both adults and can politely say “No Thanks, we don’t want to do that”.

Ugh. Two completely inert adults and two 18/19-year-olds acting like they’re 12. Is this going to go on for one week a month?

So, what happened to the TV??

From the Luann novel, first chapter:

The one guy Luann wished didn’t notice: Gunther Berger. Gunther wasn’t a creep or anything, in fact he was a really sweet guy. Luann just couldn’t get past his geekiness. Gunther had the school’s highest I.Q. and lowest have-a-clue. He was Nerd Number One. He looked like a doofy cartoon character with his thick glasses, wiry hair and stupid grin. Luann had no interest in being a geek’s girlfriend and it bugged her that Gunther seemed to think they were equals.

Yep, what fun that will be. About as much fun for these two as going to your parole officer every 30 days.

And they didn’t ask the boys first?

This seems to be leading to nuptials between Mr. Gray and Mrs. Berger. I guess this lead to Gunther and Les becoming cousins by marriage. :) Or better yet, maybe Gray adopted Les as his guardian along with his sister (Les’ mom). Then Gunther ad Less would be half brothers by marriage. :)

Look at that very subtle, very sly smile on Mr. Gray’s face in Panel 3. Why, you ol’ dog, you!

Gunther and Les can’t stand each other, so the best solution is to tell Mrs. Berger and Mr. Gray that simple fact and also that they will not be participating in the monthly get together.

I still feel that Mr. Gray could be the father that abandoned Mrs. Berger and baby Gunther years ago, and now he’s back to make amends. That would make Leslie his cousin, stretch it even more and Leslie could be his half brother.

Les and Gunther are trying very hard not to jump for joy!

This might be a little off-topic, but has Gunther really grown, or has Les stopped wearing stacked heels?

I’m wondering if Gunther’s Mom has teeth, or if she just forgets to wear her dentures?

Ms. Berger and Mr. Gray oblivious to the current unsocial/antisocial dynamic.

They should play a game of “Risk” after each dinner. That will get their frustrations out on each other.

Time for Gunther to grow a pair, methinks. Sure, we all want Mrs. B to be happy, so Gunther should stand aside, move out, and let her have Mr. Gray if that’s what she wants. Wait…do I hear Rosa calling from Peru?

And the Dragoncat Award for Best LOL goes to Carole Athena Costa! Good one! Love it!

What is the point of fearing Hell if you’re living in it?

Maybe Gunther & Tiffany can pool their money to rent an apartment. Gunther can get away from overbearing mama and Tiffany can get away from the dorm’s overbearing R.A. Bernice.Alternative, just have other plans. “No Mom, I can’t cancel out on study group to have dinner wit Mr. Grey and Les. Do you want me to flunk?”

Is Les currently living with Mr. Gray or with his Mom still?

I guess most of us didn’t expect the arc to move in this direction. But it makes perfect sense now (hind sight is 20-20!!!) given Mrs. Berger’s apparent courtship with Mr. Gray. If the two of them want to move in together and if Les is living w/ Mr. Gray, then Les and Gunther will wind up under the same roof. Mrs. B and Mr. G are planning for that possible eventuality.

I think these sets of panels are foundations to new directions these characters are taking, starting with the Bernice and Tiffany arc, with a seasoning of Piro, to make the future arcs tasty. Now the same is happening with Les and Gunther, with a spritz of Pru and a relationship between Gunther’s mom and Mr.Gray, although one can see that coming from a mile away. I know that Sunday is the usual break from the action (I get the print paper early, nah, nah, the nah, nah) so I expect a new foundational arc to start up Monday. I do say however I could be all wrong, but we will see.

Gunther being so selfish and childish that he wants his mother to be lonely, bereft of any kind of romantic company, just so she can play mommy to him full time is what made me hate him as a character. How selfish and childish. Mothers are people, human beings with needs. Ugh.Most of the characters have some pretty awful, narcissistic, selfish personality traits though.
