I bet she does not make it to class.

He’s on a bench in the park. Why is this not a surprise to me?

Some of us had been wondering whether Piro was a student at all. Apparently Bernice thinks he is a student.

Even though Bernice wanted Piro’s phone number, she apparently didn’t ask him for it the last time she saw him.

Well, that was certainly convenient.

That way, all he has to do is rotate 90 degrees from the sitting position to the lying down position and back. Up for day, down for night…

Is Piro actually a student? I thought he was just a bum who mooched off the other kids.

Is Piro some kind ghost or angel?

Well what DOES she know about him? Or maybe that’s the appeal there. The “mystery.”

Am surprised Piro recognized Bernice with the look on her face and her body language. Would anyone really want to talk with that?

Piro is such a zero character (Piro the Zero?) that there’s no anticipation as to future interaction with Bee/Bern/Bernie/Bernice. He’s like iceman & she’s like bipolar. Unless his character changes I don’t see any room for sparks to happen nor any crash and burn scenarios. Just admiration from afar. Big whoop!

As I really enjoy the “Piro” story arc, I am pleased this is the current focus. For me, today is especially interesting because we are again seeing Bernice so “in her head” that she is not focusing on where she is or who is around her. She is fixated on Piro so intensively in her thoughts that she doesn’t see that Piro is actually there.

To me, this is a pretty good analogy of how Bernice has been as a person, especially since she went to college (but it was noticeable albeit somewhat lesser part of personality even in high school). She (much like Gunther) tends to be so living in their world “of the mind” that they do not fully interact with the real world. I can understand the personality, and have had some similar tendencies myself, but have worked hard to step outside of that realm as much as I can muster.

Mulling over thoughts, “obsessing” over thoughts, and ruminating over thoughts can all be very useful, but it can become TOO MUCH as well and become a hindrance to what a person wants in life. Hopefully as Bernice (and Gunther) both progress further through college, they will become more aware of that personality trait in themselves, and begin to work to keep it in perspective, and likely tone it down a bit so they become more well rounded and experience real life more.

We’ve seen a great deal of growth and change of life-situation with Gunther that we’ve not seen in Bernice. I see nothing in the Piro character that would move Bernice to “grow.” That is, move out of herself and her unrequited fascination with Piro. But, this is a cartoon world. Things can change overnight. Sigh.

Time to swap information.

Like a hottie like him would be interested in a bespectacled dishrag like Bern. Seriously?

Too bad she doesn’t have time to talk to Piro. Bernice has time to say Hi, then go to her class.

@GERMANSHEPHERDS4EVER: Apparently you, like Airman, can only be interested in a female (whether human or cartoon character) if they resemble the women who are of interest to the current POTUS. And never, never if they wear glasses and are not smiling, smiling, smiling. Your loss, since there are a lot of great women who don’t look like runway models. The loss of your companionship would not be THEIR loss, since there are also great men who don’t expect women to exist just to be decorative.

Does anyone remember when was the last time we physically saw Piro in this strip? Not a character just talking about him or the missing tv? Who was he with?

Has Piro ever said “Hi Bernice” before? Isn’t it a good sign he is acknowledging her?

alrighty…………..now Bern if you could just unclench your fists for a moment……..life might be a little more rewarding…………
