And that’s why I bought a carrier with a lid on the top as well as in the front. You can reach in and pluck them out. Otherwise they brace themselves with all four feet and you can’t get them out without blood, lol.

I imagine that’s not the first Siamese she’s had to deal with.

The last time I had my 18 pounder at the vet’s, the tech took the carrier in to a room. A half a minute later, he stuck his head out of the door and said, “I need your help here”

I think this vet has it under control. Elvis has not left the carrier.

I would NOT look directly into the carrier! And WHY would you have it tilted at an angle?? I can just see Elvis taking a swipe at her face . . (covering eyes) can’t watch!

I´m sure nothing bad will happen, Elvis isn´t an eclipse after all.

My carrier has four thumbscrews that let you take it apart. Remove the top and lifting Josette into the open is no problem. She’s also more secure in a small carrier than in a larger one—the smaller size must feel more like a safe hiding hole to her.

Panel #2 is hysterical. I keep laughing every time I think of it. Of course I’m very happy today. My sweet kitty Cara, who ran out four and a half months ago, IS BACK! I’m beyond happy. She is loaded with fleas, but, I combed a lot out of her. It will take time to completely get rid of the fleas. I have done it before with other cats. Just takes persistence. However, thank you Georgia, for making me laugh. It was like icing on a beautiful cake today.

I once upon a time had a friend deliver to me a cat her aunt found behind her house – completely feral and in danger of being killed by construction crews. (he did respond well to socialization thankfully.) We had to take the carrier fully apart to get him out. That was a new one for me.

Cafe, also chocolate Siamese, is next to impossible to get out of the carrier, and yes, we have had to turn it upside down. I would hold the carrier and the vet reach him for him. Never thought about thymb screwing the lid off. Will try it next time. And, yes, the smaller the carrier the safer they feel.

Hi Yah! Kitty Karate – The Vet pose as demonstrated by Elvis. Notice how all the claws are out and spread wide, the tail is at full puff, the fangs in full view, the eyes at full sinister look, and the ears are at a full airplane with a backward twist. This is a 10 Elvis, very nicely done, indeed!!

I think today’s comic is a nod to the eclipse.

I think Elvis looks both terrified and furious, and Georgia captured the mood exactly.

I feel left out— my cats were very mellow. When I (alas) had to give them away, the one I brought to a friend’s house: sat the crate down (in a strange house, mind) opened the door, and he strolled out and went straight to one of my friends to rub. Always good at the vet’s, too.

When I was a volunteer at my local shelter the only cat that ever bit me was a meeser. Hit the artery in my wrist so had to go to hospital for a stitch and a tetnus shot. Unfortunately, since they didn’t know if the cat had been vaccinated for rabies, he had to be put down so they could test him and he was negative. What a waste but there is no test for rabies on a live animal. That is why they give you the tag so if your cat goes wandering, make him/her wear it on a collar. IT COULD SAVE THE CATS LIFE!!

I wish there was a way to like this strip more than once. Georgia, you’ve outdone yourself again.

Well, she is a vet…I’m sure she knows what she’s doing.

Is this a new vet for the boys? Otherwise she’d know his name.Those top loading carriers are great for cats like Elvis.

Back in the 70’s my sister and I took her car to the vet to be neutered. We took him out of the carrier and the vet casually picked him up. I told him that the car was very strong, and he might want to hold him more securely. He told me, “Don’t worry, I AM a vet, I know what I’m doing.” He carried the cat into the back room. We heard a lot of noise and yelling. A few minutes later the vet came out with huge scratches and claw marks on his arm. They had a dog that was allowed to roam around in the back room, and our cat did not like that. My sister and I waited til we got out to the car and then we laughed until we cried.

Less Cat Carrier, more Cat Bomb!

…this is hysterical :)…my late great Genghis had such a rep at the vet’s that one of the vet’s assistants would take the morning off if she knew he was coming in :)…it usually took two or three of us to get him out of the carrier…

Great! Made me think of my little three legged tuxedo cat, Holly. It took at least three people to de-crate her and we all had to hit the bandages afterwards.

Reminds me of a cat I had. her name was ‘Possum and she wasn’t the alpha female, she was queen. The vet tech had her carrier turned up to dump her out, and she wasn’t coming. The girl started to reach in her and inside to pull her out, and I told her that I wouldn’t put my hand in there if I were her (I wouldn’t put my hand in there if I were ME). It all ended happily, with very little bloodshed.

We had a kitty when I was younger that would be sedated before they took her fully out of the carrier. She was sweet with the family… and an absolute maniac to anyone else. She would chase full-grown large dogs out of the yard if they wandered by.

All I can say is…too funny. And too true!

It appears that the bite-a-lot condition Elvis had in the waiting room has advanced to Tasmanian Devil Syndrome.

So happy for car a and family. Look now, even the heavens are sending a sign.

I had a collapsible carrier. When I tried to get my kitten in it, she fought so hard she popped out the wires that held it up. But I got her in and the zipper closed. By then it was just a mesh and nylon sack full o’ cat. After I dropped her at the vet to be spayed, I cleaned up all my blood and her fur from my clothes, then bought a sturdier carrier for the trip home.

Wow! I wonder how she captured my cat Vlad when we go to the vets!

Georgia reported on Facebook that when she came in from viewing the eclipse, Elvis slipped out! Here’s the story, ""Someone" decided to slip out past the Boy during the eclipse and dart angrily across the front yard. “Someone” made this Woman chase him through the mulch and tackle* him in front of all the new neighbors. (And wrestle him back inside). Now “someone” is making sure to sit beside me with his back turned and ears pressed to show me how annoyed he is with me.*By “tackle,” I mean clumsily lunge and frantically scoop."

I love the 4th panel, and the expressive posture of “the Woman”. :-D

Tommy’s Woman is wonderful with animals. She’ll win Elvis over.
