Girls posse to the rescue I bet. Tiffany needs the full force of Luannverse to confront Ms. Awful. Les will help of course, but I wonder if TJ can be inserted here. There I said it. TJ and Les, not that’s best. And by the way, the point of this is parents, Luannverse, and all the parts are being connected, watch.
Dez, Luann & Tara got their money back. I think it would have to be other customers to file charges. Most of them had fun and liked Ann. I think Tiffany, Les and their posse confronting Tiff’s Dad at this time should not work – but hard to say how Evans wants this to sort out. The elephant in the room is that Tiffany resented her Dad having a girlfriend and that was her main motivation to get involved. I remember Gunther going ape in Peru when he realized that Ma Berger had a boyfriend. Maybe this background will bring Tiff & Gunther closer together – maybe not.
Bernice! Your behavior has reverted to your high school days. I am disappointed in you. I’d think you’d be supportive and go see her to lend your ears.
For all those saying Bernice is “happy about this”…..look again. She is going ‘back and forth’, trying to ‘correctly predict’ the outcome of the message (like we all do, on what the next strip/story will be). She says: "Okay, bad news!“. Then, she nearly admits being wrong. Then, she goes back to her first guess. Her saying “Called it!”, is akin to our own reactions, when we can claim an element of the story to our credit, though she here is trying to ‘safely cover all the possibilities’. She’s not guilty of gloating….just of being pessimistic.
-
And a second line of evidence: she was rooting for everyone to get her money…. and tried to help Tiffany in her recovery, and in getting ready to take on the plan, to get everyone’s money back.
Oddly predicted (even by Bernice) and yet oddly atypical at the same time:
1) I find it surprising to a degree that Tiffany openly admitted in her letter what Tom “Cat” Ferrell did in this situation. I would have thought her first inclination would have been to say nothing about it to others (besides her initial indication to Les).
2) I find it predictable that Tiffany refunded the money in this fashion… to me it is in keeping with her not wanting to have to interact with anyone because of the hurt/frustration/anger she feels towards her dear ’ole dad.
+ + + + +
A) I find it surprising how many folks are griping about Bernice at the moment. To me, Bernice is doing “ok” here. She did predict that the letter was problematic, she began an apology when she thought she was incorrect about the letter, and she rebounded when she was able to see she had predicted it correctly.
B) I suppose some find her “smug” look in the last panel to be off putting… but I think that expression is only about the idea that she had the intuition to think something was wrong. I do not take it in any way, shape or form to be a smugness ABOUT the situation…. which I think some may believe.
C) Many are predicting that Tiffany and Les are “romantically entwined” in some fashion in her room. I certainly hope this is incorrect. If Les is in Tiffany’s room, I hope that they are talking (Tiffany expressing her emotions about her dad)…. but, I predict they are both in Tiff’s room… scheming about the next step in their “take-down” effort.
Mr Grey still has to make an appearance. It’s his sister whom he knows very well. He’s also a business man so he could appeal to Tiffany’s dad. Additionally, he has to protect the interests of the Fuse.

It’s easier to hate Bernice than to admit the uncomfortable truth that the comic exposes. That sometimes the desire to be right trumps the desire to be good. It’s happened to all of us—hopefully momentarily. But it’s more and more true all the time, when in politics, religion, families, business and everywhere else we’d rather score a point for “our side” than think of the good of the community.
Sorry if someone already said this and I didn’t notice, but Tiffany should not assume she shut the scam down. All she did was force refunds for three people. What about all the other ladies?
Now begins the search. Call Gunther, call Les, call Ox (the man who really cares for Tiffany). Just hope that she’s not hidden in the corner of some donut shop drowning her disappointments in custard filling.
Although I doubt that this ‘toon would go as deeply into this issue as it could, depression should not be overlooked as a serious problem. It is still the case that a lot of people dealing that that condition reach a point of feeling that they would be better off not living any longer. It’s true that men are more often those who succeed at suicide, but this is usually because of the methods chosen and not because the attempt is any less serious. I would rather that Tiffany be with Les trying to figure out what to do next than she be alone and giving up on life…
Called it! Now do something about it! Bernice, do you know that Madame Souffle is actually Ann ‘the witch’ Eiffel? Call in the heavy artillery [the DeGroots, TJ, Brad & Toni, etc] and blow her away!
Bernice should be very happy in academia for the rest of her life. It’s one of the few fields that rewards being correct over being sensitive, kind or non judgmental. I kind of pity her – it must be tough always having ones ego connected with being “right”. Unfortunately have known a few too many like her. I try and eliminate them from my life. Also why I hope Tiff is in her dorm packing to get far far away from Pittsville and academia. There are far more fun ways to spend your life.
Bernice is positively ecstatic that she is turning into the next Full-time Villainess of the strip. She is growing up to be like Ann Eiffel, except not so attractive….

All three refunds in one envelope.
Tiffany will not be in her room.
It is way after visiting hours, so she went to Gunther.
Mom will only ask that the bedroom door be left open.
If anyone asks mom if the door can be closed, it will be Tiffany.
Certainly not Gunther.

I would have expected Ann to quickly toss out hundred dollar bills to Tiffany, instead of a stack of twenties.

Hmm. Tiff’s letter sound awfully upbeat and triumphant, and oh so “Mission accomplished.”
Strange She didn’t do this in person instead of writing a note.
Say, maybe Tiff’s depressed. That’s it. She’s depressed.
You two should go to her room right now and thank her this instant!
Praise her for a Heroic job well done!
Go! Right Now! She might need another…, uh I mean ”A” shoulder to cry on.
You may want to put your ear to the door and listen first…..,
