Actually, that cave seems kind of cozy…Shelter from the rain and snow, a fire…eventually they will put it closer to the opening, trust me on this one… a pile of weeds for a soft bed….Spider for dinner…What’s not to like? Cozy…
“There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.”—Douglas Adams (R.I.P.)
Play “Horizon: Zero Dawn.” Basically, the world is destroyed by robots, so we build a giant computer to reboot the human race, which goes back to tribal wars with spears and arrows.
Okay, I admit to being of the elderly persuasion. Some aspects of modern technology either baffle or terrify me. Alexa, or Echo, or any of the other “voice control” devices manage both. Why would I request, or pay for, what is essentially an electronic listening device in my home? I admit to some paranoia here, but given the current environment, let’s just say that personally, I think not.
Although I personally might not mind living as pictured in this cartoon, I don’t believe that the world would be “a better place” with the current billions of humans and no technology. And no matter how it might occur, reducing the human population to a primitively sustainable level would certainly not be a “better” interim.
I doubt a better world would have humans in it. Their absence would herald the rise of the meerkats, who are much cuter and not as violent or self-destructive.
Which is scarier – a malign sentient supercomputer system determined to end human existence, or a benign sentient supercomputer determined to protect human existence from itself?

I enjoy the idea of taking a break from all the mind-numbing technology, but that’s going a bit far.

Good thing about this period – Wiley bears would soon reduce population to peaceable numbers.

The pre/post-nuclear family. Father at his place BBQing. Children and mother all attentive. Those must be the grandparents keeping watch.

Reminds me of Asimov’s story, “The Last Question”: " And AC said, “LET THERE BE LIGHT!”And there was light—— "
