Handing the list over to Les allows him to continue with his plan, but doesn’t interfere with Tiffany’s plans to detach from her father. I do hope she keeps a copy, though… but I doubt she’s thought of that.
Aww, but I think they will do the plan together, and like I have always said its a friend type thing. Time will tell if it develops into anything else. It does not have to just because they are of different genders, but their PARENT trap is basically the same. Interesting he is reminding her he helped her, but since she is selfish in her issues she is not helping him. Maybe she can get outside of herself finally. Oh and those who want to see Ann brought low, well based on his plan, it still is on the table. Plus additional benefit? Tom will get rid of Ann because she will hightail it gone. Can Les get out of his debt to her? Probably up to the court.
You don’t often see a character in the comics from the back. Even less often, two in the same frame. Indeed the most dramatic frame in weeks. With perspective as a special effect.
I predicted a few days ago, “get out the popcorn,” because here comes the Tiffany – Les romance.
No popcorn here. Just crow!
Not that romance is totally ruled out, but, as Mordy points out above, the relationship between the two may well be abusive!
Worst case scenario: Tiffany is so desperate for companionship to replace (what she never got from) her father, what happened Monday is a most frightening preview of her attempts to land Les!
A perfect ending would be Les using the guest list to expose Mom, which would then show Tiff’s Dad that she was telling the truth…and he apologizes to her.
Unrelated comments: Yesterday, someone mentioned the likelihood that Les had been “held back” in school. When I taught eight grade math in a school in Joplin, honest to goodness, one kid I had was eighteen!
Shout out to Schrodinger’s Dog: Yesterday, you mentioned Maine North High School. Just wondering whether you lived near my home town of Des Plaines, Illinois?
Only Friday and I already question the direction and momentum of this arc. Tiffany has taken too many “hits” in the last few weeks and now creepy Les has a hissy fit and stomps out. Will her shining knight suddenly appear and turn Tiff’s luck around, or will Greg continue to beat her down like he does to Gunther?
When dad was alive and a cop, he had a winning lottery ticket. He put the winnings in a secret trust for his son Les, who will not get a penny of it until he is 21. And he cannot know about it until that day.
His wife, purposefully, gets nothing.
Ann, always scheming Ann, actually left that credit card in plain sight on purpose.
Those who are holding out hope for Gunther can hang in there. Tiffany may learn the hard way that Les is the bad guy that Gunther tried to explain to her. I anticipate that Les’s revenge road will be rocky and the situation will stay messy. Gunther may yet have a chance to be Tiffany’s hero – however we need G&K’s imagination to see how that could work.
For those questioning Tiffany’s response in the 3rd panel or her motivation – I say she is merely responding to that Les made a good point in saying he helped her and now it is her turn. She is turning over an item Les asked for. Whether she will get involved remains to be seen. She had declared that she walked away from the whole thing…we will find out if she keeps her word or not.
Why are so many posters wondering if Tiffany made a copy of the guest list for the lingerie show? Tiffany already said she was no longer trying to control her father’s relationships (along with no longer trying desperately to win more attention from him.) So I don’t see why she needs that list; she’s not going to be part of whatever Les wants to do to get even with his mother…
I am thinking that this did not turn out in the way Tiffany thought it would. To be honest, Les appears to be focused and driven in a direction that I did not expect. We already know from his attraction to Tiffany and his attempt to impress her at the Berger dinner that he probably would have been there for something else…
Tiff has acted this week like she wanted to lure Les into her new world of “Let’s make love not war.” She assumed Les’ advances toward her at “the dinner” meant she could (in her words) “handle Les.”So far, GnK’s Les character has been acting consistently. Consider: A sexual predator at “the dinner.” A co-conspirator with Tiff at the Party where he played a game called “Let’s You (Tiff) and Her (Mom) Fight”. That didn’t turn out as he’d hoped. Now he wants his list back to pursue his vengeance on Ann. Then he resorts to a guilt trip to get the list as opposed to just saying “It’s mine and I’d like it back.” He has consistently exhibited manipulative behaviors. Even earlier with Pru with the inappropriately expensive gifts seeking to make himself desirable. And on… and on…
There was a scene in the otherwise forgettable “Suicide Squad” movie where the Joker asks Harley Quinn if she would die for him, before she falls willingly into a vat of chemicals, after which she undergoes a tranformation. Harley Quinn surrendered to the Joker.
And that’s basically what the last two weeks have been all about with Tiffany, IMHO: “Surrender.”
Tiffany Surrendering her dad to Ann Eiffel. Tiffany on the verge of WILLINGLY Surrendering to Les on June 5th. And Tiffany now on the verge of Surrendering that List.
But but with Les, I’m seeing a guy that for a split second I kinda grudgingly admired, slowly turning into the Joker while Tiffany transforms into Harley Quinn. A “Harley Quinn” whom I suspect will do any thing for her “Joker” at this point. And a “Joker” that quite happily directs Anger at her and manipulates her.
But let’s say Les gets that List, and uses it to call the women on with it with Tiffany’s help. Who’s to say at least one of women won’t call the police? And with the Police involved, they’re gonna start asking questions at the scene of the crime, namely the Fuse. And there goes Les’ vow of not wanting to involve the Fuse and his “friends.”
And if by some Miracle and I mean MIRACLE, Ann is taken down, what then? Many have argued that the reason “Les” hasn’t come on to Tiffany is that he entirely focused on taking down his mom. I maintain that it really has to do with Tiffany’s weight. But the bad part IMHO, is that unless her Dad cuts her money off completely, Tiffany is still the poor little RICH girl, while Les is just poor. And besides revenge, Les talked about nothing but MONEY since he’s met Tiffany earlier this year. Don’t forget, He’s the guy that stole the Fuse’s tip money. Who’s to say he won’t take advantage of Tiffany financially in the long run?
If this so-called “romance” goes forward, it WON’T be a match made in Heaven and may end up being as Toxic as the chemicals Harley fell into.
Apparently, Tiff is “letting go” of more things…. I hope she does keep a copy of the list, but if she’s truly “letting go,” I wonder what it will accomplish for her to keep it. I also think it’s a wise decision to let go of the list, as it (hopefully) shields her from any blow back that happens when Les tries to attack his mother via that list. For reasons we’ve discussed previously, I don’t think Les will be as successful as he thinks he’ll be.
But I also have to wonder if Tiff, by giving Les the list, is also “letting go” of Les himself. Hmmmm. With that done, there’s no other reason for them to interact with each other at present. Maybe that’s just her very clever way of putting Les out of her (new) life.
Now I’m pondering tomorrow’s follow up – only three frames before G&K jump to another arc. Maybe Les leaves with the list – and a tearful Tiffany calls Gunther. Or maybe Les calls women on the list and finds out they really don’t give a #%€!…
Now, does Tiffany value the friendship? Is she truly turning a page in her life and had a sudden ‘moment’ realizing she should do right by Les and help him in taking steps to take down his mother’s scam?
Les could very well be holding the remaining evidence (the leftover lingerie). I still maintain he wants the list to call a few customers to rally them to take action for a fraud report. He doesn’t need much in that regard, just a few angry customers, and then more would come forward. Isn’t that how class action, fraud, or wrongful action type lawsuits normally work? Get a few onboard and then more smell the money and jump onboard.
OK… let’s put things in context and perspective here.
We may have spent a while following a “meanwhile, back in Luann’s life” arc, but for Tiff and Les, this is still the day right after the Ann showdown, which was late just the night before, and Les was really enthusiastic about it, as was Tiff (and wherein he was truly a great friend and support to her, at the cost of an easy and well-paying job for him). At the close of this showdown, Tiff told Les she can’t play as dirty as Ann does, and he promised to help her figure out a plan, which is what he he’s spent his time doing since.
Meanwhile, Tiff gets some rest, then spends her morning at Mrs. Fogarty’s (who is the Moony Uni counselor these days, for anybody who still didn’t get it…) and realizes what is the right course for her to take.
Which is all very well and good, but a complete 180 degree turn from everything Les had every logical reason to expect to find, when he came to see his new friend and ally to discuss what they should do next in the venture she talked him into in the first place… so of course, he goes from confused, to disappointed, to angry – and even then, not in any violent or threatening way.
There is absolutely nothing at all unreasonable, sinister, threatening, or otherwise condemnable in Les’s reaction here. And Tiff does not take too long to realize that while she was busy working out her issues in her own way, she let down a really good friend…
So, I’m looking forward to seeing where they go next, but I expect this arc to be on the way up from here. :)
Totally off the wall speculation: Suppose that Evans reads our comments (I said suppose). In a way, we’ve been toyed with, what with Tiff – Gunth alternating with Tiff – Les. We tend to be blinded as to who’s getting the most votes, so to speak. Maybe they’ve taken a tally…

But Team Evans DEFINITELY went “down that dark path” with Ann Eiffel. And They went down it with a Vengeance.
Oh, that path is not yet played out…
1. The police ask for the guest list.
2. Les is charged with theft of the list, and accessory after the fact for not reporting a known scam.
3. Tiffany is also charged with extortion, since she demanded money without returning the product.
4. Tom does not immediately post Tiffany’s bail.
5. Do you really have to think about Ann letting Les stay in jail?
6. Ann tells Tom she will ask to have the charges dropped upon return of the money and the list, but only after Tiffany spends a full night in jail.
~~~
Too dark to last more than one day’s panel.
So…….
~~~~
Possible deus ex machina twists:
1. Tom asks, “Who is this d named Les Knox?”
2. Al Gray posts bail using his part of the Fuse as collateral.
3. Simone, in conversation with the police, “How can Ann not know she was selling fake copies? She owns so many of the originals. I’ll email you copies of the receipts.”
Speaking as someone who had to grow past a violent home-life, Tiffany is more on the right path than Les is. Hopefully, he thinks about what she said and grows.
A number of people react to an abusive parent by being the opposite, but that is not optimal. EITHER copying OR going in the completely opposite direction still allows that parent to have a continuing hold. Ultimately the best goal should be finding ways to live your own life according to your own choices and morals (and while there are people who were abused who become violent themselves, there are more who work hard to oppose violence). Finding your own path may lead to doing some things in similar ways, some in different ways, but to a large extent it permits doing things in ways that simply were not encountered in your own home but may have been seen to work elsewhere.
Hopefully Tiff is just handing over the list which Les can use has he sees fit, but without her participation. After all, Les is probably the one who compiled it; he manned the door to check off names of people arriving. In a sense he is entitled to it. I say there is a 50-50 chance that Les is so angry at this point that he just keeps walking.
Just to add to complications, I want to raise the question of who that list actually ‘belongs’ to. Since the list is of women who attended the lingerie parties, I’m thinking the list actually belongs to Ann. She gave it to Les so he could check to make sure that those who were coming were actually invited (this was Ann’s self-protection so a possible investigator checking rumors about fraudulent sales couldn’t sneak in). But ultimately, if Ann created the list, it’s hers. Not Les’s…
I am beginning to wonder if Les will manage to get a legal case rolling against mom. He has motive, means and opportunity. Earlier I said we need Ann the villain, but this could be interesting, if Tom hires a crack legal team to defend his love toy. The facts would be on one side and a great deal of $$ on the other!
And SHE doesn’t want it being made public or, for example, given to the police.
Exactly wrong IF this conversation, as told to Tiffany, took place that night with Tom:
March 2nd:
Oh, Tom! I feel so victimized! The dealer I bought the lingerie from said it was genuine Souffle! If only I’d known!!
AND IT DID
Ann, innocent Ann, has to tell everything to the police to remain innocent. She has to cooperate in catching that nogoodnik dealer. Tom, now knowing what he knows, has to keep his name clean. He has to get Ann to call the police.
And to get a refund to her cash customers, and only the cash customers, and only from that last party, she needs that list.
So if it is only a week or two after the party, that’s about the speed of a bunko investigation, isn’t it?
Tiffany may have intended to give Les the list but was taken aback when he angrily stomped out. So maybe she is just calling after him to make sure he takes it. My hope is that by handing over the list to Les (if he in fact he turns around) she is washing her hands of the issue once and for all.
Let us hope that Tiff is doing the Right Thing in her sudden reversal and choosing to give Les the list of Ann Eiffel’s clients in the Souffle lingerie swindle!
1) I really hope Tiff is smart enough to realize letting it go isn’t the same as forgive and forget. She’s been hurt pritty bad and has every right to keep her defenses up. 2) A long time question I’ve had, what are Tiffs grades like?? Shes been through a lot and shes still in university? She must be doing alright on the grades front, in which case why drop out and be depressed working a menial job which probably wont pay for antidepressants rather than college? 3) The Fuse must pay really well. If Les is really trying to pay off his debts by working there I’m a little surprised. He seems like he’s smart enough about cash to realize working the local theater company isn’t going to make him rich. So why does he keep the job? Get another, and get serious about paying back mom/buying your freedom. Or better yet steal the money to pay back mom from Ms. “I’ve let it go, you should too”. Guessing she wont let it go.

2) “WHO” Is this “person” and WHAT has he done with the REAL “Les Knox???”

Not Les’s…

Stop thinking of what a teenager should do, and start thinking about what Evil Ann has already done.
