I should be in bed, but my kitty Maxie is napping on my lap on the couch. I am not going to be able to sleep in this position so I am going to have to wake her up soon. She must have read my mind she just woke up.
My dog bravely defends me from intruders, mailmen, guests, snow falling off roofs, thunder, workmen in the yard, and spoons clanged against bowls while cooking. Whatever would I do without him?
“You flea-bitten old alley cat! You mangy, immoral hairball! You… you… DOG!” Kip was decidedly confused. “Do I know you?” Tre-C’s back was arched and her tail looked like a bottle brush. “How could you leave mom like that? TWICE! And that’s just the times I’m aware of!” Kip knew he needed to do something to diffuse the situation- at least until he remembered who Tre-C was referring to. Did she say “mom”? He thought he’d sweet talk her; it had worked for him so many times in the past. So he warmed up the purr motor and walked toward Tre-C intending to melt her with a gentle bunt. Megan closed her eyes and winced. Kip would forever remember that however well this worked with potential mates, it was considerably less effective with his daughter…
Love the banner though I’m not sure if Burt’s being sarcastic or not about Elvis and his bravery. Footy season has started so the boys and I will be sprawled on the sofa in front of the telly – a long time Saturday tradition in my house.
Elvis, sweetie. You can quit guarding now. You belong in that pile.
In other news, I just ordered a Breaking Cat News tee shirt from the BCN store. It’s called Pile of cats. It features our 3 boys and other feline reporters. I’m looking forward to wearing it.
Norton, a former alpha cat in my house, had a habit of staring intently at people he didn’t know and even following them from room to room when they visited. Once a friend of mine stayed overnight in the guest room and said she was spooked by “the big cat” who sat on the nightstand where he could see the hallway as well as the bed and watched her all night without neglecting his duties to guard the rest of the house.
Wonderful thunder and lightning storm soon after 3 a.m. I actually love it. My cats don’t and let me know I should do something about it. Turn it off I guess. Storm ended by 5 a.m. but I’m up for the day. I hope I don’t have to do anything today that involves coherent thought.
This one reminds me of the one from Dec 17, 2017. When the people were taking a “light bath” by the Christmas tree. I loved that one so much I bought a print of it.
If numbers mean anything, BCN should be FIRST in the lineup. Come on Editors, Look at the numbers on the other comics! Give Georgia top honors!!! >^.,.^<
I just realized today is Red’s adoption anniversary. He reached his paw out from the shelter kennel and said “pick me”, on Aug 11, 2010. Happy Adoption Day, little Mister ♥
Slow but sure progress. Lupin and Elvis will allow themselves to be picked up with only a very slight hiss and no fussing. Deposited into a lap and given rubbies, purring and some limited blinkies are forthcoming. Even better, when hands are withdrawn, they will look up to “ask” why. And if left unattended in the lap, they are content to sit for 5 minutes or more before sauntering off.
Last night Lupin sauntered off the lap over to the food dish and spent 5 minutes snarfing. Milestone. Its the first time either of them has been willing to eat while we are in the room.
This AM we shifted over to screen door instead of solid. They can look out, the rest of the family can look in and they can link what the many sounds of the house look like. Elvis gave Lisa some hand licks this morning, and then stood up in her lap to do a nose to nose sniff.
On the down side we have only seen Mom twice this week, a fleeting few minutes at the food dish and poof? Working out a safe trapping is going to be interesting.
Of course, as we all know, Elvis is only really concerned about The Woman and The Baby, and possibly the Big Red Couch. The others, well, they can fend for themselves, at least as far as he’d admit.
Completely unrelated to the sleepy cute and extremely brave comic of today. Yesterday I went to see a friends art exhibition. She paints insects. I wore my Elvis pin, as I felt they would most likely be the art critic/culture correspondent for the network.
OMC, this is so adorable, it could not be any more so. Its adorableness kind of sums up the whole feeling of BCN, which is always here to give me hope in a sometimes hopeless-feeling world.
Georgia, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful furbabies and even more wonderful imagination and artistic talent with us. Since coming across Breaking Cat News I have made many intelligent (i.e. cat loving) friends very happy with an introduction.

I wonder if that couch is one of the really deep old fashioned kind. Otherwise I don’t see how the Man could look so relaxed.
