Trump is not draining the swamp.

Who knew that when Donald Trump yelled “Drain the swamp” on the campaign trail, he meant, take all the mud and alligators out of the swamp and dump them in a big spread from the White House to the capitol?

Who knew that the ones yelling “lock her up” would be the ones rotting in prison cells?

GUILTY: Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort

GUILTY: Trump fixer and lawyer Michael Cohen

GUILTY: National Security Advisor Michael Flynn (who led the “lock her up chant”)

GUILTY: Deputy campaign manager, transition and White House advisor Rick Gates

GUILTY: Campaign foreign affairs advisor George Papadopoulos

Trump keeps calling it a “witch hunt” but we keep finding the SMOKING BROOMSTICKS!

Draining the swamp? That would be Robert Mueller (decorated war hero, much respected non-partisan investigator, and life long Republican).

The Totus may have run on a slogan of clearing the swamps, but he brought a lot of alligators with him. There’s wonderful Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, who so passionately advocates for school choice that she has praised historically African-American colleges as pioneers of school choice (totally misunderstanding – or maybe ignoring – the fact that those colleges were founded because segregation laws kept African Americans out of many colleges). And of course there’s the wonderful Secretary of HUD, Ben Carson, who has long been a strong critic of HUD’s role in enforcing fair housing laws, and who believes that anyone who receives any subsidy for their rent (whether disabled, over age 80 or what) should be required to accept any job…

Not a swamp, those are just floaters from the septic system passing out to the leach field.

This looks more like just the overflow from the swamp. What remains, well crap, there’s just too much for this forum. I could write a book about it but it appears several other people already have.

My goodness, Garry Trudeau apparently has a huge readership in Russia! I guess that’s what happens when they sense dangerous truths. Force of habit, I expect.

Frankly I think the words “the swamp” has become a Republican racist dog whistle phrase to describe the social safety net, which Trump gleefully wants to tear to shreds since he thinks the only people who are on welfare are blacks and Hispanics and he thinks they all cheat the system.

I wish that the Republican Party – what’s left of it ( no pun intended ) – would wake up and realize that Emperor tRUMP is not a Republican. He is a RHINO and has no loyalty to any party or any person but himself. He’d even throw his own wife and kids under the bus, if he deemed it necessary.

So, what other “administration” in the history of the U.S. has had SO MANY officials, lackeys, flunkies and assorted hangers-on either indicted, convicted, or “resigning to spend more time with their families” , hum? Maybe St. Ronnie the Senile, or “President” Cheney and mini-me shrub?? King Richard the Nix, perhaps??

Did you say ‘learned president’? Honestly? This president has said he knows more about climate change than do people who have made a career of studying the climate. He has said he knows more about ISIS than do the generals. There is an old Arabic saying, part of which goes like this: ‘He who knows not and knows not that he knows not is a fool. . . .’

Most women I know in my (boomer) generation don’t talk about assaults from high school, or even college, boy friends or acquaintances. They talk of older, often married, men who corner them somewhere away from friends and family. Teenage girls and young women in their early 20’s, even today, tend to feel helpless when confronted with an aggressive and confident older man. And predators tend to choose victims not so much for their attractiveness as for their youth and vulnerability; in other words, the ones who won’t report them.
