Tillie, Sir Fig and Lupin toe beans! Lupin’s tiny thumb. Sir Fig’s sweet smile. Hang in there Puck, help is on the way—assuming nobody closed the door to the dumb waiter.
Tabitha’s a real softie under that Alpha Female exterior. Her friendship with Sir Figaro still makes me feel all warm and fuzzy…like a cat, possibly. :D
I love Tillie’s expressions in 1 and 4. Also, it looks to me like she has on a bib and tucker, or at least a tucker, plus maybe a cameo to hold it in place? And her dress in the last panel has ghostly stripes.
Insults indeed! There’s a bridge in the SF Bay Area called the Dumbarton, which columnist Herb Caen thought was unduly harsh, and referred to as the “Reasonably Intelligent Barton Bridge.”
Five personalities in operation. Tension, persuasion, resolution yielding resolve to act. Spoken and unspoken interactions. And a punchline. So much goes on in these few little panels. Such richness. All served up with charm.
Maxie turned to Megan; “I take it she’s pretty close to this ‘Yenta’?” Megan nodded, “About as close as it gets- she’s Tre-C’s mother.” “So then Kip would be… Dad?” “Yes sir. Recently reunited, all the way around. Actually, Kip is probably going to give Yenta something of a surprise. We who know Kip are hoping it works out- he’s even considered a player by other Toms.” Maxie chuckled; “I love a happy ending.” Rusty broke in; “Megan, Can I get your usual whole milk latte”? “You bet, Rus… Max?” “Earl Grey tea, if you have it. Just a bit of honey.” “Coming up! Hate to rush, Megan, but I’m up to my whiskersin orders. I know it looks slow, but there’s been a steady rush since about ten, fifteen minutes ago. I just can’t get caught up.” Megan looked at Rusty, then to Maxie, then took a bar towel from the ruddy tom. The Tuxedo at the center of the room smiled broadly, tossed the towel to Max and said, “Lay that over your arm…”
Good morning and happy Monday/Funday, orbsters and orbabies! Maybe Agatha corralled some real mice to release the dumbwaiter and send it down to the basement so the other cats can effect a rescue. Or maybe ectoplasm can become solid enough to affect real objects and Tillie (pardon me, Miss Matilda) was able to lower it herself. Inquiring minds want to know.
You just knew that Elvis would take the ‘Dumb-waiter’ as an insult. All we needed to complete it was snare drum and hi hat after the joke (Ba dum tss!)
As a former Contractor, I got to see a few Dumb-waiter’s in old Mansions in St. Louis. They are really cool. They were outlawed because the shaft acts as a perfect chimney during a conflagration, and make a bad fire even worse.
First time we’ve seen Sir Fig look any other way than confused. I’m sure it’s pure delight at finding another friend who speaks Kitty Sign Language! And wonder of wonders, the Alpha Crabby Tabby seems to be a bit soft on him…but don’t tell anyone – she has a reputation to protect!
Oh, the sweetness! Tabitha and Elvis denying their burgeoning romance, Lupin and Fig signing their friendship (does Lupin still smell of vanilla?), and Tillie making them all see sense. A great way to start a week.
I haven’t been on for about 8 hours. Sometime during that period the comment programmers have struck again and messed up the spacing in the comment boxes. They are filling lines and breaking words any old where with no regard to sense or meaning. Last comment above this was 2 hours ago, so maybe it was more recent since no one else has commented on it yet. Noticed it on several strips.
I knew Tillie and Tabitha would take charge. I suspect there will be some tactical disagreements along the way even though they’ve agreed on the strategic objective. :-)

I put my groceries away, and opened the door again, and the kitty was definitely showing interest in the interior of my home, then Pingpong went over to the door, and scared that cat away. I put some food out on my porch for it.

WAY TO GO TILLIE!!!!!! There may be a Nobel Prize in this for her somewhere. Have they gotten smart enough to award them to ghosts yet?

Every time Elvis reveals the squishy little heart beneath his hardened exterior, I tear up a little.

Even though she’s being a tad difficult in that panel, Tabitha looks so beautiful wearing that unamused look—such lovely golden eyes.

I still say Tabitha and Elvis make a cute couple—aren’t they just adorable together in panel 3?

Dumbwaiter as in ‘dumb’ meaning ‘mute’, unable or does not talk. Elvis certainly is not ‘mute’ and never has been.
cat19632001 about 6 years ago
So where are the Woman and the Man? Still asleep “like maniacs” (as Elvis once called them) and totally unaware of the danger that Puck is in?

how much weight can the dumbwaiter hold? 1 cat, 2 cat, 3 cat, more?

Is Lupin a polydactyl or just giving a thumbs up?
DorothyHeydt about 6 years ago
Aha. Look at panel 3.
Lupin is polydactyl and Figaro isn’t.
(But Tillie is.)
Perhaps as time goes on we’ll be able to count the toes on the other cats.
