So what does Ann want Tiffany to do: go to a simple store like Dollar Tree wherein buy a $1 packet of emery boards and a $1 bottle of nail polish and do the mani/pedi herself at home?
Iâm guessing Tiffany has no pocket money. I hope they call the police. Tiffany should allow herself to get arrested. Letâs see what daddy thinks about that!!
I know someone predicted this and I think I remember who it is but I am too lazy this late to check yesterday, but I thought this might happen too, so now what? Again its control by Ann over Tiffany, to what end? To keep the money that Tom has for herself (donât exhaust the honeypot) or could it be âGASPâ she really wants to try rein in Tiffanyâs out-of-control behavior? Why, in either case? They both have their clearly defined personalities, so arguing over who is bad or good, or is being looked at unfairly is really irrelevant, what is relevant is why?
Is there a $15 to $20 tip in addition? I think most college students probably eat for a week on $100 â $115. And if they have some entry level service job â it takes a day and a half to earn that much. How often has Tiff been getting these mani/pedis? Tiff really needs to learn where money comes from.
Geeze what a *itch, and I leave it to YOU to supply the âB.â And it ainât gonna matter what Tiffany buys be it a $95 mani-pedi or a stick of gum. Ann is gonna HAUNT every purchase she makes.
The quick and dirty solution is for Tiffany to get a job. But even in THAT, Ann Wins. And sadly if Tiffany turns to Les for âhelpâ to pay for todayâs mani-pedi (or anything else) HE (GAG) âwins.â And Heaven only knows what his âinterest rateâ will be!
I hope Tiff goes the job route and gets a better job than that crappy one at kidz first where they just halved her pay. Tiff SHOULD call Simone for a job referral here in the USA and work at a high end clothing shop.
And if she HAS to burrow money, I HOPE Tiff calls Crystal, Bernice, or Gunther. ANYBODY but Les!
Services like this should probably get their money up front to keep such âinconveniencesâ from happening to their clients. Especially young things like Tiffany.
Instead of policing HOW she spends money, just give her a spending allowance per week. Example: $100 a week. She can buy $100 worth of candy if she wants. Or she can get her mani-pediâŠ.but nothing else for a week. Tiff needs to learn to budget. But I donât believe she should be told what the allowance can be spent on. She needs to figure that out herselfâŠthat $95 to do her nails was a waste.
Not defending Tiffanyâs entitled personna, she does need to learn how the other half lives. BUT, I bet Ms. Eiffel has spent the same, or, more on having both her sets of nails done, so why bug Tiffany about it?
Iâm still not buying this plot line. Tom Farrell, successful businessman, is going to allow this uneducated, former Wienie World employee, scam artist to manage his familyâs personal finances and banking info? Given his success and being a single parent, wouldnât he have had his choice of desirable female companions for all these years? Instead, heâs portrayed as having just fallen off the turnip truck.
Tiffany needs to suddenly show up at Dadâs work place or next golf outing and have a heart to heart. I have a very sneaky suspicion that he doesnât have a clue what the WWoW is doing.
Unless I am mistaken, the âalertâ only notifies Ann of what is going on. She cannot really stop the payment at this point, she can only chastise Tiffany at this point.
Has the payment already gone through? Anne is monitoring the account, but does she have the right to refuse payment? Or can she just call up Tiffany and scream at her for spending the money?
I dislike Ann, but itâs hard to disparage Ann too much in this case. Despite her motivations (which are no doubt selfish), this treatment is kinda what Tiffany needs. Though the new restraints on her spending habits should be handled by her father since he is the one who facilitated and enabled Tiffanyâs current behavior with money.
Tiff always selects Gregâs Mani Pedi⊠wait⊠shouldnât that be Soniaâs Mani Pedi at the âAll About Youâ day spa? And why isnât it called a âGirly Pediâ or A âPrincess Specialâ or some such. (I guess this is why you donât find many guys in the Nail Spas.)
In the upscale restaurant I worked at, the wait staff is considered the sale staff. Their job is to sell. Their job is to know the product and to size up the customer to figure out what they might want. They do this by talking to them and describing the items. Good wait staff keep a close eye on their customers. They follow the ebb and flow of a conversation, keep and eye of the level and reception of the food. This is not an unskilled job. Get rid of tips and pay a good wage.
Unless Evil Ann controls the credit card, Tiffany should just ignore her nagging. It looks like Ann gets notified when Tiff uses the card, but Ann canât stop the purchase.
What I would like here is for Tiffany to act wiselyâŠ..
1) First, I believe she needs to figure out a way to actually talk with her cojones driven âfatherâ to make certain he is aware of and approves this funding control that Ann is exerting. I suspect it is indeed something he is approving of, but she should check.
2) Presuming it is legitimate, she then needs to have a talk with Tomcat to get him to give Tiffany some indication of what his âspending limitsâ are meant to be.
3) Whatever these limit are, Tiffany should accept them, with the caveat that ANN has nothing to do with the regulatory process between Tomcat and Tiffany.
* * * *
The above, however, are only a sadly ephemeral pipe dream. The above is how we would want it to occur in real life. But, in the comic world, we (sadly) need the horrendously villainous Ann to drive the story.
I have my doubts that there will ever be any âhilarity ensuesâ in regards to story arcs involving Ann and TiffanyâŠ. they will likely be captivatingâŠ. but in a harsh way.
Not to worry. Tiff knows how to get what she wants. When she was six years old, she gave a department store Santa a lap dance to sweeten up her Christmas gifts. She tried the same thing when she was sixteen, but almost got the Santa arrested.
Iâm so sick of the Ann Eiffel character. I read the comics for enjoyment, not to read the antics of an obnoxious scam artist. Iâm just going to skip reading Luann until the Ann Eiffel story arc is done.
For a bit, it looked like Tiff might have turned into a worthwhile person. Guess not. Looks like she will always be dependent on a sugar daddy. Time she looked for one. Glad that whatâs his name escaped.
Hopefully some of yâall saw âReservoir Dogs.â At the beginning, the bad guys are in a restaurant having breakfast and they discussed tipping. Mr. Pink (Steve Buscemi) didnât want to tip â making a good argument that he used to work at McDonalds and never got a tip. But the boss sorted it all out, saying, âLeave a dollar, you cheap SOB.â If youâre squeamish â turn off the movie after the breakfast.
But if Ann doesnât allow the payment, how will Tiffany pay the beauty salon? Working for it? ⊠Could this finally be the beginning of Tiffanyâs brilliant beautician career?
Tiffany is what her absentee-father created. He has always thrown money at her as a substitute for actually being there when she needs him. No wonder she uses money to make herself feel better. Annâs just pissy because money spent on Tiffany is less money spent on her. Tiffany could get a job, complete her education, and make something of her own life, but itâs still no sub for parental love and presence.
This is not about Tif needing to learn to live within her means. Ann is missing with her to make her miserable, either out of spite over the Souffle Lingerie Scam or to drive her away. No doubt Ann spends more on herself than Tif ever spent on herself.
Tif should consider suing her dad for Separate Maintenance to continue to âLive in the manner to which she has become accustomed.â
RE: THE REAL WORLDâŠâŠâŠâŠTipping is ridiculous in all areas, food service, salons, etc â employees should be paid a decent wage â customers should not have to pay for a product/food/service then pay someone who asks them what they want to eat and brings it â the employer should be paying the employee to do that. And grumpy, rude, unattentive servers do not deserve to be tipped â they are in the wrong business if they think they can treat customers that way and then expect to be handed a tip
We never learned whether Tiff had her hours cut at Kidz-1st or if sheâs even working there still. She needs to go through the mental exercise where she looks at all the stuff she buys and decides, for each thing, whether she would still buy it if she had to pay it herself. Itâs unfortunate that we have to have Ann in the picture for this.
As a lesson in economizing, Tiff should give up her smartphone (controllable by Annie Awful) and go retro with a simple, dumb flip-phone. That would cut off Annieâs interferenceâŠ.
But, taking the Long View, the towering Eiffel must be brought down! Permanently!
Sonia is okay and the little French Canadian would be cute if Greg had given her a neck and defined her eyes. Ah, but we know that she is just one of the generic characters who will now exit the strip. At least her hair didnât look like some Lego construction.
