Toe beans! Nose prints! Neighbors? I didn’t realize there were so many houses across the street. I’d always pictured the Big Pink House as being on a hill out in the boondocks.
Tommy you are so brave to expose your tummy to a mythical creature!
He’s holding letters, but that doesn’t mean his satchel is full of them. I think the cats might have misidentified this fellow, and he isn’t a postie at all.
Tommy has made first contact with the mythical mailman. OH MY CAT!! He’s friendly and giving him a belly rub. We will remain live at the scene to report this amazing news as long as we are able.
Panel one with all four cat faces, perked ears, huge eyes, Pucky smashed up against the window pane, Bea wedged into the corner….priceless and what a t-shirt it would make.
Four kitties in the window looking astonished! One kitty on the lawn getting belly rubs from an intruder who may or may not be the mailman! A moving van (moving in or out?)! Garbage day! So many issues for the boys and their little intern to resolve!
I’m thinking the Big Pink House is on a large corner lot; remember, too it’s next to the Quinns’ cemetery as well as the farm where both Burt and Baba Mouse (to say nothing of any rodents or chickens) live. Also it’s fairly close to the house of Tommy and Sophie, and can’t be far from the bookshop (see spoiler zone). If you’ve seen the Halloween special where we met Tillie, the ending scene shows the BPH in the background, so it’s definitely got lots of space on at least one side.
When I went to grad school we moved into a house in a neighborhood that was a bit of a student ghetto. The house we were renting had a fenced-in backyard and tall strands of bamboo, and like clockwork strays would show up that were mostly cats students had left behind when they moved back home or into a place where they couldn’t have pets. Our yard was safe, I’m a sucker and would leave food out, and as space permitted we took them in. We had two cats moving into the house, and at one point we were up to four (and both of the originals had unfortunately passed on). We’ve moved into an apartment now but I still worry about the cats in that neighborhood.
I just had a wonderful surprise! I received an email from my Library saying a hold of mine was ready to pick up. I was very curious since I hadn’t placed one in a long time, and it turned out to be LUPIN LEAPS IN!!! I had requested that they purchase it when it first came out, and they did! Hooray!! Georgia, you’re now in the Somerset County Library system in NJ!

All those little faces – and paws – in the window! …and outside the window! Oh, Tommy… YUP made me giggle.
Ooh – “movers” can’t be a random detail. Foreshadowing? Can’t wait to find out!

What’s going on with Puck’s mouth? o_O (Saliva trail???)

Please tell me you have a video camera, Puck. Please. And referring to yesterday’s strip, how long were you observing the mailman?

Lol, of course Tommy’s gotta get his belly rubs! When you cross a tollbooth, you pay a toll. When you cross Tommy, you give belly rubs. :D

Tommy can definitely vouch for the existence of a mailperson. Who gives bellyrubs!
Robin Harwood over 5 years ago
Don’t leap to conclusions, Elvis. It might be a Mailman, but wait till you get confirmation from Tommy.

Lots of garbage cans out on the street in front of the big pink house.

I’ll watch the outside, while you put the letters in the box for the People today!
Staring out the window for hours and hours to see you come by
Bringing your letters saying loving things for me, all is for me!
…….
Friends, come here now, and watch and meet my friend, everything is good
Such a smiling face, the window shows a scene with the mailman outside
Happy words for you, all them for you!
…….
Our house is a very, very, very fine house,
With Tommy in the yard, and Elvis now on board,
Now everything is great with all of you,
I wanna purr, purr, purr, purr purr, purr, purr, purr purr!
…….
Our house is a very, very, very fine house,
With Tommy in the yard, and Elvis now on board,
Now everything is great with all of you,
I wanna (KK’s improvised lyrics) say how much I love all of you!
…….
I’ll watch the outside, while you put the letters in the box for the People today!
