The other problem is that Joanieâs wrong. The country very much does NOT yearn for decency, probity or common sense, or this baboon never wouldâve been nominated, never mind elected. Liberals have to stop thinking that We Just All Need To Come To Our Senses and realize that Trumpâs the sort a large number of people want in office.
I do wonder what happened to the Republicans. Is it just misplaced nostalgia to imagine that Laceyâs brand of conservatism ever existed? Was the Republican party hijacked by malevolent forces? Or was what Lacey represented really so benevolent as it seems and actually contained the seed of what we see today? I donât know. I genuinely wonder.
âFiscal restraint, personal responsibility, collegiality, probity . . .â That these values are no longer part of todayâs spineless group of republican sycophants is exactly the reason I stopped being a republican. Of course, the democrats are as incompetent as the republicans are lacking in moral courage. Tough as an independent finding people to vote for.
Trump is back from his European vacay. Dan Rather:â as a taxpayer, I would have rather paid for the Griswolds to go on a European family vacation than the Trumps.â
I do miss Lacey, though. We donât have âconservativesâ anymore, and there is no ârepublicanâ principle in the Trump Worshiper Party. Not any moreâŠ.
Lacey said in the sixth frame âFiscal restraint, personal responsibility, collegiality, probity . . .â; We donât find that in Republicans. We donât find that in Democrats. We donât find it among the people in many settings, such as on college campuses. The country is more divided than it has been in decades⊠I am unsure how far back there were those qualities among most politicians, most people, âŠ
When children had fights like that, our parents would separate us and tell us to stop playing with so-and-so for the time being. We might be better off with loosening that âmore perfect unionâ, and giving blue states and red states more freedom to do as they wish, without being mandated to do this or that by WashDC.
The majority of players on both sides of the political aisle used to have those ideas as core values. The whole political spectrum has managed to become childish, left and right. Each blames the other like my children fighting at the dinner table.
@Renatus Profuturus Frigeridus: never mind an Italian town some years ago, try Nevada in 2018. Dennis Hof was elected to the State Assembly despite having died in the month before the election.

Nancy, if you are referring to Hillary, the majority of Americans did vote for her. If you are referring to Lacey, she is a fictional character.
