Somebody better tell Danae that before one can write great science fiction, one must learn great science.

Should we be worried about when Danae’s fiction meets the facts?

Interesting that a Capt. Kirk Communicator is EXACTLY the same size as a flip phone, isn’t it?? And how many people have a home computer that monitors things like the lights, the A/C, even the food in the fridge, and you can ask it to “Open the Garage door, please HAL?” Hummm…

Maybe she should read a few books before tackling one of her own. Actually, I know a small indie publisher who has called for fantasy submissions from authors between 8 and 18 years old, so their is a market.

One thing I find interesting about SF up to at least the 1970s, is how much it can underestimate the future capabilities of computers.

On the other hand, there’s a well known story by Murray Leinster, A Logic Named Joe, which did a fair job of imagining the Internet. In 1946.

The science fiction and modern horror genres were created by a teenaged girl. The basics of the superhero genre was created by a woman.

Read this very humorous exchange between Mary Doria Russel and Sir Arthur C Clarke…about what constitutes “science fiction”. Russell stands her ground and is awarded a point by Sir Arthur himself.

It’s not just the current year, either. Every year for the last 3 decades no fewer than 75 of the top 100 box-office films of all time (a list which keeps changing continually) have been science fiction, fantasy, or comic-book movies. It took Avengers: Endgame about 2 weeks to crack the top 10.

A vast majority are from comics which were written many years ago. I’m talking Marvel and DC. A very tiny amount of movies and tv come from recent novels, most of which are teen dramas. So, good luck with that.

How many Different SF films will Danae rip off while writing her screenplay?

She might even be able to Sell it since that’s Hollywierd’s usual MO.
