This cartoon brought back sooo many childhood memories of Sunday’s, sitting in our inferno of a car, in bumper to bumper traffic, crawling down the interminable two-lane “highway” in Connecticut, to go the Watch Hill, RI – spending an all-too-brief couple of hours on the beach and then repeating the process to get home.
My Dad was a saint to be able to put up with the heat, the traffic, two whiny kids, my Mother’s incessant “backseat driving”, just to give us a little Sunday treat.
Or you can do like we do here in San Diego, wait until after Labor Day to go to your favorite beach. Tourists are gone, its still warm, you can get a table at a good restaurant, life is good after Labor Day.
Oh man… this a timely comic today !!! I have been lamenting the fact of Summer being almost over and I haven’t been to the beach (any !! Lake or ocean) yet

If you get to the beach and find no place to park…..Then you lagged. Go EARLY!

Apparently, all of those beachgoers are familiar with Danae. That’s why they fled.

Good Luck indeed. The world’s population keeps growing exponentially. More than doubled since the 70s

Good public transportation could remedy that- but will never happen because it’s difficult to monetize and government hasn’t the gumption to fund it.

I kind of like how Calvin does being a dinosaur better, but then, he’s a tough act to follow.

I can think of situations where I’d love to be able to transform myself like this. e.g. Long supermarket lines at the cashiers.

I would be willing to bet that the reason they are late to the beach has something to do with Danae.

Boy that looks a lot like a coastal road in northeast Massachusetts! Right down the the unending cars.

Love Gooser Rocks beach.

There’s no way a car evacuation will be at all quick. Should have thought ahead and started a Twitter rumor that there was a sewage leak at the beach.

That’s what is nice about having a private beach.
