OK, I’ve been wanting to say: Ryder isn’t going to be a boyfriend. He only appeared in shadow earlier indicating he won’t be a regular character.

Dates with me were NEVER light on the cheese.

I was born with “dad humor”.

yeah but who can blame here really? we didn’t get to see this date so i’m curious how it went too a tad. i’m more curious what the guy looks like to be honest or like i said last night is he gonna stay in The shadows?

Luann isn’t that swooned over him. So neither am I.

I’m really not liking Tara’s attitude here. Tara’s got no right to get bent out of shape because Luann doesn’t feel like sharing the “deets” of her date with Ryder. Luann does not owe her a recap, or an explanation, or anything, really.

I’m with Seasnork and Howard the Duck: Tara is useless (except for causing trouble).

Very disappointing is the disappearance of Nil. Though he, too, was pretty useless yesterday.

Watch Ryder be the next nude model they have in class… LOL

Looks like the date was ho-hum to Luann…unless she is being flippant to conceal her true feelings.

Tara & Luann have teased each other since they first met in chemistry class. In frame 2 Luann is obviously having fun as opposed to being annoyed.

The elephant in the room: Has Tara dated Ryder? Hopefully after class the conversation will continue – maybe with both sides playing hide & seek.

And speaking of cheese, hello Professor Zebo.

I would never be friends with someone like Tara….ever since she ditched her friends at that (truck?) rally. She is not a nice person…. I don’t even like her as a foil in this strip. Tiffany is a better foil. Even Bernice. Tara is just unlikeable all the way around.

Can’t help skimming through the overnight comments to save my life, and I will respond to the perception that Tara is competing for Ryder (silly) or is some kind of bad person (a bit judgmental, although I like her) etc, etc., but that aside, what I see is happening is that Tara and Nil, are artistic and character tools through whom Luann’s perpetual issue with romance, and fundamentally, her personal self-confidence, is being examined. I think that Luann will or may be (lawyer in me) forced to realize that she is not being honest with herself, and that, in my belief, she has someone, Jack, who she really is either purposely or blindingly not seeing as someone she should look at seriously as a romantic object. Professor Zebo has no problem with her as a TA btw, that is just the face he puts on for his students, I think he really is not a bad guy, but his imperiousness is a plot device, not really the way he is, he is not some malevolent force after all. We have Ann for that.

That’s just a great answer to say. The jokes Luann exchanges with Tara are more salty than those she exchanges with others.

There are so many of Luann’s pals getting on her case about her love life. First Jack appeared uncharacteristically pushy at the dog park. Now Tara appears concerned with Luann’s reticence. Even Nil expressed an interest in Luann’s date. He never got excited about anything before. (Recall that Luann was not short on sharing her Quill thrills with Bernice.) So Luann’s just not makein’ it in the smitten department.

Now Zébo calls the reader’s attention back to the classroom milieu. Is she “up to speed?” Tara opines “not.” But not for what?

We’re being set up people! I think (maybe) we will see T.A. Luann stumbling and bumbling over some new guy in class.

Is Ryder the newest male model for this wacky art class?

Tara’s unhappy, cool!!! While she’s no Tiffany a few years ago she’s an ok foil and I do like Luann’s reply.An interesting shift coming back to class (btw, what classes is Luann taking this term/semester?). While Zebo isn’t my favorite character he does seem to enable a few things Fogerty didn’t (must be the artist in him). I’ll be curious to see if there’s a new “subject” for Luann in class though I would expect the TA to know those things ahead of time (I like your idea Mordy but I think it’s on the early side, last time the nude was later in class though it would be cute to have Jack as the subject so Luann and Jack could clear the air). Three more days and I’m certain that Friday or Saturdya will bring a twist for us, subjects like this are always good for that.

Is TA a title as well as a position? Or is Zebo just conferring it on her like he does by falsely referring to himself as “professor”? (a title which, despite what the Harry Potter series implies, is not just a synonym for “teacher.” It is a very specific type of instructor at a highly advanced level, and I don’t think teaching Intro to Art at a junior college qualifies.)

nosy Tara got some cheese and tomato on her face, ha ha… Glad to see Luann is focused on her work w/ Zebo. BTW, I am a little disturbed that Jack shares with Tara and Nil his interactions with Luann. Perhaps he is not the kind of close friend one would like to have.

It was hot and gooey and very satisfying. Oh, You mean how was the pizza?

Pretty fun today…. Tara is perturbed….. the “NOT” is in reference to Tara not being “up to speed” in what she wants to know…. the “deets” about the Ryder lunch.

It also sounds like Luann is prepared for her TA role today….. which is also good.

The only somewhat sad thing….. it appears that Nil is out of the picture today….. does it mean he is not in the art class any longer? Or, does it mean he is just out of frame at the moment? Since he already took the class…. and seemed to do well, I am worried he may have dropped or gone into another class. I like Nil as a character and would like to see more of him. Same thing for Piro.

Luann happily and emphatically states her readiness to start the class because it relieves her of the task of having to talk to Tara about her date.

Meanwhile, I just think it’s nice to see Luann in her own strip again. XD

Tara and Professor Zebo are not on the same page, but “T.A. DeGroot” at least says she is.

Here’s the skinny, Tara: the Ryder date was a dud.

Luann has left a trail of discarded possibilities. But, I imagine most of us have at that age.
