Hi folks – hope everyone is doing well. I wanted to share something I’ve done to honor our friend Brein43 (Martha). She never would have considered herself an artist, but she had a very distinct doodle style and left simple line drawings of cats, dogs, mice, weasels and other animals wherever she went. (Like placemats at restaurants that didn’t notice a couple of grown-ups had nabbed some of their crayons.) I have translated some of her doodles to a fabric design that you can see here: https://www.spoonflower.com/en/fabric/9399109-martha-s-critters-by-little_gray_monster and here: https://society6.com/littlegraymonstercrafts. Aren’t these cute? Oh, and I’m donating my proceeds to the Cat Adoption Team in Sherwood, Oregon. We used to go to their fundraisers, but never adopted from their because our cats all just showed up, kind of like Goldie and Bea.I also have an ulterior motive in mentioning the Spoonflower site here – I think the world would be a better place if it had BCN themed fabric in it! Remember Tommy’s footed jammies from the Peep Toad episode? Wouldn’t it be great if we could have our own footed jammies in the same fabric? But what if you don’t sew? Well, this site also does wallpaper. How about Beatrix Color Coding Office Supplies wallpaper for your home office? Don’t you think this would be great?!?
OT: Here’s an article about my friend and fellow cat rescuer, and her two-legged cat Feta. https://meow.af/meet-the-stunning-two-legged-cat-who-found-an-amazing-mom-after-she-and-her-kittens-were-rescued-from-the-side-of-a-busy-highway/
Thank you to everyone for your good wishes yesterday. My hand surgery went well. Have a HUGE bandage on my thumb which definitely limits my paw power! Slept a lot yesterday. Pain meds make me dizzy, but guess that’s way better than being in pain. ♥♥Orbsters♥♥
A few words of experience from an old lady who’s not feeling well today and taking a medication that has a known side effect of causing one to act in a restless, hostile, or aggressive manner. DON’T MAKE ME ANGRY; YOU WON’T LIKE ME WHEN I’M ANGRY.
If I download a book I don’t enjoy, I stop reading and delete it from my Kindle. If I start watching a show I don’t like, I click to another channel until I find one I do like. If I try a new food that I don’t like, I push it aside and eat something I do like. If I encounter a comic I don’t enjoy, I don’t add it to my “favorites” and don’t go back there again.
And the number one rule about strays is that if you don’t feed or otherwise encourage them, they will go somewhere else in search of sustenance—especially the ones who feed on attention.
I’m curious about the comment from Johnathan Mason; it looks like a couple of other comments I’ve seen on other strips I follow. Almost like it was cut and pasted…
Seriously, Orbsters, we have a troll and it goes by the name “Jonathan Mason”. According to BCN regular, poppet bear, JS has been sowing discord in other forums and has recently attempted to poison BCN with its posts.
Please remember, a troll thrives on attention, especially negativity, so do not attempt to communicate with it, either through likes or direct replies. The "Jonathan Mason” troll does not care about the BCN Orbsters, and the best thing we can do as a community is to IGNORE THE TROLL until it is bored enough to leave.
If you feel you must respond, please try to keep your sense of humor in tact! Our resident D**m Master, Robin Harw**d, posted a classic nugatory response to one of the troll’s comments. But always remember this: The troll doesn’t care about – or for - anyone but itself, so it can and will say anything to hurt and poison what the BCN has to offer. For the sake of the community, and for all the Georgia Dunn has given us, PLEASE IGNORE THE TROLL - do not Like, do not Reply, do not give it your attention!!
My new chair arrived sometime yesterday. ETA on getting it put together: Next Thursday (one week from tomorrow). The delivery guy just set it inside my front gate. I guess they thought it too much trouble to get it on the porch (it’s pretty heavy). It was all I could do to get it on the porch and inside the front door. The box is now blocking my coat closet.
It’s possible that someone else might be able to come by before next Thursday to put it together for me, but for now, it’ll have to sit where is it now.
Dear Orb: I just wanted to say something. Hope that Nushi and Shirins and Mazing and all who need prayers, boops, purrs and good thoughts will be better soon. I love how everyone supports each other, prays and offers good thoughts and things – for which I pay much homage and thanks to ShaunnMunnn (we miss you!).
Now I did wish to say something about and to TheresaFichtner and hope I say it the way I mean it. I looked at the comments she’s made and they have all been here on BCN. They’ve been pretty positive and I don’t think she’s the troll in disguise. Theresa please understand that we all care about each other here and wish each other well. Sometimes somone is in need of something more than prayers and with only the Orb to help – or to suggest ways of obtaining help. If a person has never been in need – God bless them. But I hope that you will understand that this is a special place and that if a person needs help or advice that they can post here and be able to obtain it.
Anyway guess just wanted to say something. I didn’t see the strip today or comments until this evening Eastern time as I’ve said I enjoy being cheered up after a long hard day. ((((((((((((((((((Go Orb!!!)))))))))))))))))))))))))
Kitten update. Saw the vet yesterday, looks like the swelling in the jaw has been draining and is not as painful as before. The vet thinks he bit through his cheek and it got infected. Teeth are ok. His tail antics are lessening as he gets better so good news all around. Another two weeks of anti inflammation medication and he should be all better!
