Everyone credits ’80s Don Johnson for the Miami Vice; 2 day shadow, leisure coat over the T-shirt, short pants and no socks while wearing loafers, look….
I’ve seen the last 5 minutes of many Beverly Hillbillies episodes; it came on just before the reruns of Perry Mason on cable TV. I didn’t care for BH, usually turned off the sound until it was over. Perry Mason/Raymond Burr on the other, wisdom for the ages.
I remember when I was much much younger that tv shows would have “in program commercials.” The actors would stay in character and advertise the products. Some of those cigarette commercials were too funny for words.
Considering all the crap being put out these days, that’s not a bad choice. Myself I’ve been going back to Forensic Files when I don’t find anything that catches my attention in the flood of choices available these days.
Ironically, the show was drawing big ratings but the suits thought the show was “too rural” and want to be more refined. Same reason why Mayberry R.F.D. got cancelled as well.
I don’t have cable and was watching Beverly Hillbillies on Youtube just last night. I suddenly realized that back then Granny was my current age! Aunt Bea too! That was a stunning bit of reality!
Jack Benny and Burns and Allen are on some channel on Saturday nights late – okay, probably technically very early Sunday am and we always watch them – again.

Then one day he was shooting for some food,"

Jed Clampett nailed that style 20 years earlier….

The only thing not on anymore is my step-father’s ashes. The TV set’s too skinny to hold them anymore.

Our favorite is b&w Andy Griffith. Everybody Loves Raymond later in the evening.

Sounds like my sister. Power of the entire internet at her fingers, she watches reruns of Hillbillies, Good Times and Are You Being Served on YouTube.
