20 years ago, they’d have been watching al black and white shows!

They would have been 20 years younger – and TV would not have been a priority when cooped up, I wager!

That much Tee Vee 20 years ago? Not much chance of that, I reckon.

Watching the same shows we’re watching now.

If they were watching old TV shows in 2000, well, “The Munsters, Twilight Zone, Lawrence Welk”, and others were in B&W, no?

In the midst of the dot-com craze. Everyone would have been emailing the latest gifs to their listserves, and video rental stores would have been declared an essential service.

Their 20 years ago I would still be sleeping at work oops I mean working at work.

We’d have used all of our internet hours up the first day. Look with AOL we get a hundred free hours with this new disk!

Gene might just have a sibling :)

We relate past intimate shindigging to before-kids and after-kids. Big difference. Wonder how old Gene was 20 years ago?

In 2000 we would have had the internet, but a much more restricted version. There was no streaming of movies or TV. Netflix was around, but it was a video rental system, and by “video” I mean VHS cassettes.

We wouldn’t have Zoom meetings, Microsoft Teams or even Skype to do any video chats or group meetings. Cell phones were more restrictive back then and landlines still had more expensive long-distance charges than they typically do now. “Isolation” would have felt a lot more isolated.

Late 60’s/ Hong Kong Flu… We didn’t run around like a bunch of paranoid fools.

Back in 1968 (the last pandemic) we were just starting to watch the war on the news while we ate dinner.

If it had been 20 years earlier there would have been one more Gene in the pool.

what most of you are missing is that twenty years ago netflix did not exist

20 years ago, I was barely recovering from the dreaded Y2K virus. It was the worst of times…giggle, snicker, chortle.

Eerily similar to present times.

Books – no electricity required!

10 weeks ago I gave up tv, except for 30 minutes of news. there were a lot better things to occupy my time. in the end didn’t really miss it.

Sounds like they need to expand their video horizons. I know with all the options I have I haven’t come close to watching everything. True I’m watching things I probably wouldn’t have before, but I’m discovering stuff that was better than I thought it was.

No Westworld except the weird original movie.

I’ve really not watched any more TV during this plague. I have played more video games, read more books, and drank more wine than I would have pre-plague.

Turn it off and read a book.

HBO was widely available in the late 1970’s.Good excuse to avoid all that personal stuff.

The best of TV, as I know now 20 years ago was NO digital TV!!! I could actually look at the screen for more than a few seconds at a time! Cannot watch digital TV it hurts my eyes.

H1N1, SARS, MERS, nothing new under the sun.

No online meetings, broadband internet, streaming movies, video chat software. In spite of what we had to go through, we were still blessed.
